Bikini waxes… what do they wax?!

Does a bikini wax wax your… undercarriage at all?

Basically I like to read my book on a sun lounger with my legs bent (if you know what I mean) and I don’t want “tufts” poking out the sides of my costume for passer bys to have the misfortune of witnessing!

there isn’t much to remove but does a basic bikini wax do any of the undercarriage or just the upper bit? Would I be better off going with an extended bikini wax or even a Brazilian? Thanks

Hi OP just check with your salon. Where I go this would be an extended wax or Brazilian/Hollywood.

Flyinggeese1234 · 03/05/2022 10:33

A basic bikini wax is usually just the sides.

shivermetimbers77 · 03/05/2022 10:35

Standard bikini is usually front only.. Brazilian/Hollywood is undercarriage too.

Staynow · 03/05/2022 10:37

What about tankini shorts instead of all that pain?

StarlightLady · 03/05/2022 10:56

Just show them exactly what you want off. I find all off is far easier than faffing about, but at the end of the day you are the customer. You can take your bikini along to show them if it helps.

They need to book in a particular time for the app

I’ve changed to Brazilian
thanks!
ps I really don’t find it too painful at all!

OP, I agree with you. Uncomfortable, yes, but saying painful is somewhat over the top. I know what pain is! Always avoid a wax just before a period though.

isurvived3under2 · 03/05/2022 12:21

You need a Brazilian to do anything more than your bikini lines :-)

starlingdarling · 03/05/2022 12:32

but saying painful is somewhat over the top.

For you maybe. I found waxes horrendous. Laser was similarly painful but at least that's lasted me a few years so far. Don't think I'd ever have the courage to get a wax again.

mubarak86 · 03/05/2022 12:35

Does a Brazilian take absolutely everything off? I'm just wondering how that works in and around the labia?

doadeer · 03/05/2022 14:49

I would get brazillian then you can clarify what you want removed, doesn't need to be everything. I think basic bikini wax you keep your knickers on and it's just around sides.

StarlightLady · 03/05/2022 15:08

To avoid any confusion, if you want all hair off, it is better to ask for a Hollywood, then they will know exactly what you want. She might ask you to assume some untimely positions. Just remember that the beautician has seen it all before many times.

Oh I don’t give a hoot!

yep booked a Brazilian

My preference is for a Hollywood and means everything. My beautician must be the cheeriest women ever to ask "do you want your bum hole area waxed today" 😀

Lookingoutside · 03/05/2022 16:58

It’s fine. The hot wax goes directly on to the skin and kind of shrink wraps the hair rather than adhering to the skin/labia. All comes away leaving everything silky and perfectly intact.

OP you’ll never look back!

Xztop · 03/05/2022 18:44

Can someone tell me the procedure? For example, do you wear paper knickers? How do you lay ? etc etc. I really want to get a Brazilian but I am mortified at the thought!!

Coffeepot72 · 03/05/2022 19:17

A Brazilian leaves you with a very narrow “landing strip” on your under carriage, if that helps. Not quite as severe as a Hollywood or playboy, but nothing will be poking out when you’re sunbathing

SheilaFentiman · 03/05/2022 19:20

@Xztop some beauticians like you to wear paper knickers, others don’t mind. If you want to, say when you book.

EarringsandLipstick · 03/05/2022 19:29

How do you lay
Generally you'll be on your back, propped up.

For the underside you'll hold up your leg / legs so they can get to your bum area.

It's one of those things that sounds worse to describe than it is in real life.

It's really not too bad, and no need to be mortified. They just take it in their stride!

Lambzig · 03/05/2022 19:40

Can I just ask, is it way better done in a salon? I did some ‘experiments’ at home during lockdown with a home hot wax kit and found the results very disappointing.

StarlightLady · 03/05/2022 20:18

I honestly would not bother with paper knickers. They have to pull them from side to side anyway. I can't imagine anybody achieving the same at home, even if you had a periscope to check progress.

Hot was is a must. No silly strips.

doadeer · 03/05/2022 20:53

For mine you often lie with your feet in a butterfly position, then knees into chest when they do your bum. No knickers. It is embarrassing at first but my wax places does hundreds a day so I doubt they are embarrassed

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 03/05/2022 21:19

I've never had a wax in my life, my lady garden is, erm, as nature intended... but that's because I was brought up believing it was "tarty" and a bit shameful. Am mid 40s now.

Have a big holiday this summer and am thinking maybe this is the year to be brave. But.... it really is bad. What would I need to do to prepare? Trim?

Oh Jesus yes. Salon for sure.

I couldn't imagine trying to do it myself. You'd need to be very, we, supple & it's hard to pull off the wax / strips yourself.
