Facial SPF 50 for under make up - holy grail?

Looking for a new SPF50, need something that provides a good base for make up, is good for sensitive skin, non clogging and doesn’t sting eyes. Most recently used eucerin pigment control which I’ll probably go back to if no other recommendations.
In the past I’ve tried frezyderm - made my eyes water terribly, anthelios lotion - didn’t soak in that well, biore watery essence, absorbed quickly but apparently full of alcohol.
Recommendations much appreciated.

I use Tropic Sun Day facial moisturiser, which is spf50. I don't wear make up much but find the moisturiser light and not eye-stingy.

Not much help but I’ve just ordered the Beauty Pie one - good reviews, will update after testing! I currently always use Trinny BFF but it’s only spf20

QueenofLouisiana · 01/05/2022 22:12

I use the Beauty Pie one. I’m really pleased with it.

persephone19 · 01/05/2022 22:13

I really like thank you farmer

Less alcohol than biore watery essence - I use it as a moisturiser for my slightly oily skin

Quitelikeacatslife · 01/05/2022 22:13

I use dermalogica dynamic skin recovery sof50 and use it as normal day cream

persephone19 · 01/05/2022 22:14

I found the Beauty Pie one too greasy but it's a good bet if your skin is dry probably - does have a nice texture but made me too shiny.

Blogdog · 01/05/2022 22:17

I’ve recently started using Murad City Skin. It’s lovely, doesn’t clog or hurt eyes or make make-up slide down your face and has a lovely glow. Pricey though.

GailTheFish · 01/05/2022 22:17

I’m using Ultra Violette supreme screen spf 50 at the moment, which works well under make up without piling etc. I’ve also quite liked the Supergoop Unseen sunscreen, although it has more of a primer texture which makes me worry I’m not using enough to work as SPF, if that makes sense.

marmiteloversunite · 01/05/2022 22:19

I like the Nivea Q10 spf50 for face. Wear it every day and my eyes normally react to suncream.

Cetaphil Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF50+
I find it nicely moisturising for my combination skin and works well under make up for me.

Gunpowder · 01/05/2022 22:34

The kiehls matte factor 50 is good (but expensive!)

BangtanLove · 01/05/2022 22:35

Obagi is very very good but it costs a fortune. Lasts a long time though.

sHREDDIES19 · 01/05/2022 22:45

I use Hawaiian tropic it’s quite cheap and feels nice on the skin plus it’s not thick and greasy unlike many that are spf50.

Benjispruce4 · 01/05/2022 22:54

I use La Roche Possay SPF50 Anthelios and it’s fab under makeup.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 01/05/2022 23:03

Heliocare!

Rainraingoaway21 · 01/05/2022 23:13

Another vote for Cetaphil Daily Moisturiser spf50.

Cheap too.

Ballsaque · 02/05/2022 00:00

I’ve tried a few mentioned above but my absolute favourite is Nivea Shine Control spf 50. It’s probably the cheapest I’ve used but I find it the best.
I don’t use moisturiser as well,just this.

I will ramp up to spf 100 when I go abroad or when it’s hot here (eucerin actinic)

WeeM · 02/05/2022 08:18

I was also going to start a thread on this but plumped for the anthelios recently and I’m pleased with it so far. I have combination skin so used it in place of moisturiser as I feel both would be too much (no idea if this is right or wrong!). I left it about 5 mins before applying primer and make up and make up goes on well and seems to last as long as it normally does.
I had fancied trying the heliocare as it gets great reviews on here but when I looked at recent reviews on Amazon quite a few were saying the formula has recently changed and it’s not as good now so that put me off.

LightningAndRainbows · 02/05/2022 08:19

Randomly, the body shop one is really good under make up

WalkingOnSonshine · 02/05/2022 08:20

Bondi Sands.

I alternate between the under make up lotion and over make up mist.

I second this one. It's unbelievably light on the skin.

It was out of stock for ages though so I decided to go back to Clinique's City Block but bought the newer one which I hadn't tried. It's factor 50 and in orange tube. It's absolutely gorgeous on skin, super light under makeup and lightly tinted which I liked

Crawfishspots · 02/05/2022 08:29

I’ve just ordered the bondi sands one in the hope it’s not too greasy. I use boots soltan once a day on holiday but realise I need a daily one now!

Karmatime · 02/05/2022 16:20

The Beauty Pie spf 50 works well for me, the spf 25 was too shiny but the 50 is much lighter weight and dries down quickly.

JoanDarc · 02/05/2022 17:41

Thanks everyone, some promising looking recommendations. I’m kicking myself as just placed a beauty pie order on Saturday, it sounds a good option but will add in to my next order instead. In the meantime, think I’ll try thank you farmer and will report back.

If you have quite sensitive eyes, try the Anthelios stick. I use this around my eyes and not even a hint of sensitivity, I have sensitive eyes and most SPFs and creams make them water. It sinks in nicely and no issues with my make up, eye area is ‘normal’.

On the rest of my (oily
