This dress? I love it but people seem indifferent.

I’ve bought this lovely dress. I hope my DH likes to see me in it.

Lol at looking "womanly" 😂

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2022 18:38

Amish chic is a thing. And that dress is a thing too.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 27/04/2022 18:40

It's awful, it looks awful on the model so can't imagine how much worse it would be on the average person

I don't really know what the point of this thread is. The dress is by a Danish designer and the photograph is from a Vogue shoot in 2018. Does the OP think this thread is clever or funny? It isn't. I doubt very much if she has bought it.

The comment about hoping her husband likes it is a bit misplaced. It's the type of dress and at a price that it will be bought by women who couldn't care less whether men like it.

The dress is much nicer than 2 hideous nylon monstrosities being praised on other threads

You've clearly missed the joke

To be a joke would need something to be funny. There's nothing funny or amusing here.

JuicyBuffersElasticNut · 27/04/2022 20:48

I like it. I would wear it for synagogue.

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 27/04/2022 23:26

@IamEarthymama @GuppytheCat

I would also love to see the Georgette Heyer heroine coat! Can we have a photo? Or at least a historically accurate description in elegant prose?

GuppytheCat · 29/04/2022 14:09

Along the lines of 'She stood up in a round gown of figured muslin with a spencer of twilled silk', NomNomNom?

MushMonster · 29/04/2022 14:16

I am not keen on the neckline, the sleeves, the bodice pattern and colours, do not like the long frill at the bottom with the material in a different direction, at all! And I dislike the contrast between the sleeves in white and the pattern in the dress.

I cannot see what you see on it, at all.

MushMonster · 29/04/2022 14:23

I would got with something like this? **

Now I will sit down to watch some TV waiting for your arrival LOL

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 29/04/2022 20:55

@GuppytheCat 🙂and probably something about a hat too

GuppytheCat · 29/04/2022 21:21

Ah yes, would you prefer a charming villager hat of chip straw or a silk-lined poke bonnet, not that I’m sure what that is without googling?

SmellyWellyWoo · 29/04/2022 21:24

It makes the beautiful thin model look like a sack of spuds so I imagine it would look hideous on an ordinary woman.

But we all have different tastes so you do you.

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 29/04/2022 21:58

Depending on the heroine, it would have to be either the one that sets off her curls to charming effect, or the one that allows a glimpse of the determined expression in her eyes

GuppytheCat · 30/04/2022 22:39

Of course — and one must not forget the neatly turned ankle in a half-boot of kid (or orange jean, though that sounds unlikely written down).
