Any Chanel bag experts on here....

I've just bought a Chanel bag off Ebay, but I have a feeling its fake as I can't see any authenticity numbers or serial numbers etc. I've attached a few photos of the bag and wondered if anyone could have a look at them and see if the bag is genuine or fake. Thanks so much in advance x

If you bought it off Ebay, it’s more likely to be a fake.

OP the pictures aren't that clear but there should definitely be a serial number. I have a few change bags and they all have one - I can't remember what the exact signs are to tell they're real but if you googled you should find some good tips - if still in doubt you can have it authenticated at the handbag clinic if you're near one or authenticate4u which is online.

Also just because it's off eBay doesn't mean it's fake both my Chanel bags are from eBay and they are not fake - though you do have to do due diligence ie - the person you are buying from investigate - do they seem legit? Were they selling other designer goods? There are tell tale signs of a fake seller, I have fallen victim to a few in the past.

At £550 in that condition, it's likely to be fake. Something like that on the secondhand market would retail for £3000+. Also the grain of the leather doesn't look right to me, the inside shade of the leather is not the right colour either (though that could be the photo). Also the interlocking CC looks to be overlapped in the wrong direction.

No serial number and 500 pounds means its fake. These bags are over 7 grand in the shops. No one will sell them for so little. Most reputable shops r selling the jumbo for at least £4.5-5k and that would be considered a bargain.

Not that I would consider that price a bargain btw but cheaper than in the boutique.

See link for a 2019 bag/serial number for a preloved bag on a reputable site. Hope that helps and if you intended to buy authentic I hope you are able to get your money back.

Depends on what year the seller is stating the bag is from. Are they claiming it’s new (post 2020? Or vintage?)

Chanel recently stopped doing authenticity cards/serial numbers for several of their bags - the classic CC flap being one of them.
If they are claiming it’s an older bag, pre-2020 then they should have a black authenticity card with a serial number on it with it.
Did the bag come with a dust bag? A box?

As PP have said, £550 is a steal for a Chanel (especially since they have had at least 2 price increases in the last 6 months) so most likely you’ve bought a fake - sorry OP! If you purchased with a credit card then you might be able to get some money back as they often offer some sort of protection.

For £550 that rings massive alarm bells. I have in the past been duped by too good to be true prices. A Chanel bag of that style would be absolute minimum £1500 and the condition would be tatty even for that price I would expect.

The new bags may not have the old style serial number but they have an attached metal tag or plate which has the number imbedded. Look online for images

Definitly fake. No classic flap will be 500.
500 is a lot for a fake bag. Get it authenticated and raise a paypal dispute asap

@Popsicle33 that's exactly what ly what I thought - awful! I've never seen a Chanel bag with a finish that looks like that, the leather is usually dreamy soft and smooth.

Did you research at all before parting with your hard earned cash? As a PP mentioned you would NEVER be able to get a Chanel bag for that price second hand.

Luckily you should be able to get your money back easily from EBay but let this be a lesson eh
