Do nice looking walking sandals exist or are they all fugly?

Just that really. Are there any around or am I searching for the holy grail? I had a pair a few years ago for a walking holiday and they were so incredibly comfortable but looked hideous! They’ll mainly be for dog walking so i shouldn’t really care what they look like but to get a pair that looked ok too would be a bonus!

i’ve ruled out number 2. As a PP said they look medical! Side views here of 1 and 3 which highlight the fugliness. 😂the black pair are merrell’s and like walking on air! I quite like the brown ones too (although SIL has made me vow never to wear them to lunch or dinner with her!)

I like the colour of the first pair and could be prepared to overlook or even cut off the stupid plait. They would go with anything whereas black is very, well, black. Uncompromising.

I quite like the plait 😂

I just splashed out on 5 different pairs of sandals from Pavers. I love them all and have already walked more than 50 miles in one pair.

Confused... the side photo of the black are no 2 in the OP? Anyway, IMO they are the ugliest of the 3, however, as per my PP... embrace the ugly in glory of the comfort!

Yes sorry I’m getting my numbers mixed up! Have ruled out number 3 so side pics are 1 and 2. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I got my fugly walking sandals on Oxford street in London in a decidedly non hiking gear type shop. Therefore I think fugly sandals are actually fashionable and having a moment and therefore for once in my life i'm fashionable.

DeathMetalMum · 28/04/2022 22:35

Try Timberland, I have some comfy non fully sandals from there.

I also have a pair of Tevas from a few years ago which are not fugly and have lasted really well. I love them however they seem to have stopped doing any type of variety in the style I liked (I can't wear sandals without a toe post).

friskybivalves · 29/04/2022 20:19

I like the first pair from the side and with the plait!

Mimijamroll · 02/05/2022 11:35

These are the ones I have

The black and grey are the best

Chaoslatte · 05/05/2022 10:45

I got mine from Earthrunners and I don’t think they are too ugly www.earthrunners.com/products/circadian
I have the black laces

ScrambledSmegs · 05/05/2022 10:49

I have some Tevas which I think are ugly but apparently are also too cool for someone of my age Hmm.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 05/05/2022 11:09

The good thing about most walking sandals is that they set a low bar and are usually easy to outcompete in the attractiveness stakes. Thus a reasonably comely ankle, rest of body and face will look even better by comparison. It’s the nonchalant 'too beautiful for my shoes' effect which just can’t be achieved with a pair of 'try hard' elegant heels.

That's my theory anyway!

Lovemusic33 · 05/05/2022 20:01

I bought black teva last year and my feet burnt in them, I wouldn’t buy black sandals again 😬😬, I would go for brown or tan.
