Charlotte Tilbury make up - is it worth the hype?

Bunglemom · 13/04/2022 13:32

So its my birthday coming up and i think im going to invest in some Charlotte Tilbury make up BUT before i splash the cash is it really worth it?!

Looking at the airbrush foundation and pillow talk lippy... maybe could stretch to an eye pallet as well.

My skin is Dry and Combination too so would like to know how others have found it to be?

The lippy is alright, pretty colour but very obvious when my lips are a bit dry. Find it overhyped personally and also weirdly sexualised marketing probably bumping the price up. Prefer the nars foundation for my dry skin.

seensome · 13/04/2022 13:56

Yes although the particular two things you've mentioned I don't like. The airbrush foundation is very thick and wears patchy, there are so many shades it's confusing what to pick, definitely get a sample first if you can, the pillow talk lipstick doesn't suit me, although they come in different shades now. There is plenty of good stuff though, I rate the bronzers and highlighters, lipglosses, pillow talk mascara is my favourite and I like the magic face cream.

aftonwater · 13/04/2022 13:58

I haven’t tried the foundation but Pillow Talk lipstick is the one I wear every day. I also really like the colour chameleon eye shadow pencils.

BundtCake · 13/04/2022 13:59

Colour chameleon eye pencils are stunning. Love the lipsticks too, I buy both when they do Black Friday etc and sell multipacks.

TheProvincialLady · 13/04/2022 14:00

I am not particularly a makeup person but bought a cream eyeshadow and eyeliner a few weeks ago, and am totally sold. They are far easier to use and last far longer without smudging/wearing off than any I have bought before, which has included Chanel/Dior/benefit/No 7/Nars and mac

@Sameiam

thanks so much :-)

I do love CT but not really either of the products you've mentioned. The pillow talk is the perfect shade but I find the formula quite drying, there is a revolution one the same colour which is probably better in my eyes. I prefer the new beautiful skin foundation as its a bit lighter on the skin.

I find the hollywood flawless filter and the setting spray unbeatable. I do like the eyeshadows too.

Tabitha789 · 13/04/2022 14:08

I don't think it is, other brands are better. Ysl, Fenty etc

rc22 · 13/04/2022 14:22

I have the pillow talk lippy. The colour is great but comes off and needs reapplying more quickly than other (cheaper!) brands.

funkylittleboatrace · 13/04/2022 14:42

I brought the airbrush foundation yesterday, I’m shocked how good it is ! I normally use Dior Forever foundation, which is ok but can look a bit heavy. The C T literally melted into my skin.

billydilly · 13/04/2022 14:46

Slightly off topic but the Hollywood Flawless Filter is amazing.

Bunglemom · 13/04/2022 14:47

Thanks so much for all the replies it really does help me make my mind up!

The under eye concealer is the best thing ever

They will happily give you a load of samples so I’d try those first

Lochjeda · 13/04/2022 14:50

Iv got the wonder glow primer, airbrush flawless foundation and the magic away concealer and really love them all. I also like all the lip products. Iv worked in cosmetics for seven years and its my fave foundation.

IchBinAnnaOfCleves · 13/04/2022 14:56

Colour Chameleon pencils are fab and I love the Enigmatic Edward lip balm.
Didn’t like the Healthy Glow stuff, looked great at first but oxidised badly on my skin.

ArabeI · 13/04/2022 15:01

I bought Flawless Filter on recommendation from here just before Christmas. It does give a nice glow but I don't think it would be great if you have dry skin (I have combination/sensitive).

Another recommendation is the Uptown Gurl palette, but that's more evening/occasion look, at least for me!

I bought the foundation and it made my skin really dry, it looks very obvious on -- and my skin isn't even dry to begin with!

MargaritasOnMe · 13/04/2022 15:39

I really like CT and definitely rate the eye shadows and lip products. As you have dry skin, avoid the foundation. I have dry skin and unfortunately CT foundations are very unforgiving with any hint of dryness - it looks patchy and cakey. I'm getting through mine by mixing tiny amounts with moisturiser but it's an absolute pain and my main CT regret!

Charlieiscool · 13/04/2022 15:49

The powder shadows go overboard on glitter and it ends up all over the place. I like the lipsticks and eyes to mesmerise pots but the Bobbi Brown sticks are better. The foundation is nothing special and the mascara smudges badly. The eye pencils and liquid liners don’t last more than a couple of hours. The blushers are nice but then you can buy others just as nice much cheaper. The setting powder is pretty good and so is the Hollywood flawless filter.

Have a look at Delilah cosmetics, I prefer them to Charlotte Tilbury.

delilahcosmetics.com

There is a lovely nude lip collection on sale at the moment.

I prefer CT Wonder Glow to Flawless Filter. FF is too thick and sits in lines and pores. WG is much lighter. It can be used just on it's own and really gives skin a lovely look.

grownup2 · 13/04/2022 19:29

If you would like to try Pillow talk plus a few other bits and bobs from other brands

@Buyitinbamboo ooh what is the name of the Revolution dupe for Pillow Talk? I'd like to try it but the CT stuff is so pricey.
