Like converse but comfier

So my beloved navy converse have finally given up the ghost and I'm on the look out for a replacement. I wear them. So much in summer I suppose I could just get another pair, but if I'm being honest, they were always a little narrow and had no cushioning. I'm wondering if there is something out there like converse but a bit comfier and wider.

A friend has some Superga that she wasn't that keen to recommend as they are quite heavy, according to her.

Can anyone here recommend anything similar? TIA.

Can't help but following with great interest I find converse too flat and not comfortable on the toe, superga rub my heels, I've tried joules, hidden etc but the stitching is often rough or seams stiff and dig in, so I'd love to know if a comfortable plimsoll exists!

Air & Grace are beautiful and have gorgeous insoles to make their shoes extra comfy.

Twitterwhooooo · 11/04/2022 22:21

I've got these, or something very similar from Ecco.

They are much comfier than Converse and very light.

littlebitnonchalant · 11/04/2022 22:21

Springcourt are unbelievably comfy

runnerbeany · 11/04/2022 22:23

Rocket Dog Jazzin?

PeskyRooks · 11/04/2022 22:25

I've got navy Vans. They're wider and comfier than converse and don't have the rubber end bit that makes my toes cold!

WeddingFavour · 11/04/2022 22:26

Vans? I've got the Sk8-Hi with comfycush and they're much comfier than Converse. They do low tops too

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 11/04/2022 22:37

Van are good.
Fitflop are teetering on that fine line between super comfie and granny shoes, so you need to decide which side of the line each pair is
DC used to be good but not so sure now.

LegArmpits · 11/04/2022 22:41

Vans. Comfiest trainers ever.

CiderWithLizzie · 11/04/2022 22:44

I had this problem and ended up buying some trainers:

I find the Dunlop dupes are slightly wider and comfier and as a bonus much cheaper than Converse

SufferingJet · 11/04/2022 22:51

Cariuma. Without a doubt.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/04/2022 22:53

I like Skechers Bob canvas shoes as they have memory foam in and are very comfy.

PointeShoesandTutus · 11/04/2022 22:55

Superga. Don’t discount them. I’m on my 4th pair - and each pair has lasted 2-3 years of near daily use. They’re instantly comfortable out of the box and much more cushioned than converse. I’ve not noticed them feeling heavy?

Hotpinkangel19 · 11/04/2022 23:02

Converse do wide fit?

HarrietSchulenberg · 11/04/2022 23:02

I've inherited some Airwalks from DS3 who has grown out of them, and they are soooo comfy. Look quite Converse-esque. I was really glad he picked them at the time as I liked them (they're green and white) and from the minute I bought them for him I planned on nabbing them the minute his feet grew out of a 7.

SpeedofaSloth · 11/04/2022 23:05

Agree, Dunlop are comfier and lots cheaper.

AnnaSW1 · 11/04/2022 23:14

Skechers Bob canvas are like walking on cosy clouds. Supergra and converse feel like glass in comparison

SheAndHerAreWomen · 11/04/2022 23:17

Breaking news: I've just bought a new pair of Converse and they are really cushioned! I never wear my old pair, as you're right, they aren't comfy on the bottoms. My new ones are really squidgy. I'll try to see if I can post a link x

Carbis · 12/04/2022 02:58

I love Superga. I have quite wide feet and find them really comfy.

Bloody hell £150 for such ugly trainers

Yutes · 12/04/2022 06:15

I would second Rocketdog

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 12/04/2022 06:45

Another one for Vans. I have a few pairs of canvas plus a leather pair for when it rains.

boatyardblues · 12/04/2022 06:54

Fitflop Rally are very comfortable and they have new colours each season. Some of the colours look grannyish but most are fine. At the price they should have a leather footbed IMO.
LooksBetterWithAFaceMask · 12/04/2022 06:58

Have the rocket dog jazz ins changed then? I’ve had a few pairs and while they were lovely they definitely weren’t cushioned the sole was really thin and you cold feel rough ground under them.
I love vans much comfier than converse and another that says don’t discount Superga they are very comfortable.
