Phase Eight jumpsuit

I am looking for an outfit to wear to a summer wedding at a church and hotel. I am 50, size 14, 5ft2 with a bit of a tum. I prefer a v neck or scoop rather than a high neck.
I don't fancy a dress as they all seem to be midi length or a shift with lace.
I quite fancy this jumpsuit, but what to wear as a jacket or similar in case the weather is rubbish?
I would prefer to order from Next, M&S, JL, Littlewoods or Freemans as they will all deliver/hassle free returns for where I live.

I think it is stunning. I would go for a wrap to accessorise.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 11/04/2022 22:59

I wore something similar to a wedding a couple of years back. Took a silver wrap with me. Worked well.

Isabelle70 · 12/04/2022 17:04

Thank you, I thought wraps and pashminas were a big no no on S&B?

The jumpsuit has arrived and I think I need an in between size! I returned the 14 as it was snug on the bust and back and also hard to do up. The 16 has arrived and I think it could be too big? But then again I don't wear a jumpsuit so not sure if the loose fitting trousers is ok? They are a wide leg which I don't normally wear.
Shall I keep or return?

The fit looks okay to me. It fits on the shoulders and waist and you don't want it too snug especially if you're eating.

MiniCooperLover · 12/05/2022 18:53

It looks too big up top and the shoulder strap looks very close to falling down your arm, which it shouldn't do if comfortable?

vjg13 · 12/05/2022 19:00

Can you get it altered professionally, just to give a slightly more fitted look?

PomRuns · 12/05/2022 19:17

it looks a bit big.
have you looked in Hobbs - stocked in John Lewis.
Boden do free returns too.

Thanks @TheQueensCousin yes all day wedding with sit down meal at a fancy hotel. I can do it up and undo it by myself which is a bonus!
@MiniCooperLover the arm strap will stay up as the back comes right up to the neck. It does feel just a bit too loose in the top and it the middle as well!
@vjg13 I will have to shorten the legs as I am only 5ft 2 on a good day but I would rather leave the body as is as I will sell on eBay after I have worn it for a couple of occasions. It has a back zip so i could look to take the sides in slightly and let out afterwards.
@PomRuns I will take a look in Hobbs, we do have a small concession here but they only has shift dresses. I wouldn't go for the dress with being short and it would be a pain to shorten. The jumpsuit looks very glamorous for me, but I like the colour.
I will go and have a mooch on JL
The wedding isn't until July and I will be travelling to Birmingham for a couple of days in June so might find something in the shops.

I have a photo of the 14, it does look better but maybe a bit snug on the bust!

The 14 looks a much better fit on you OP. It doesn’t look snug on the bust, in fact it makes your boobs look fantastic! Unless it was uncomfortable over the busy I would absolutely go for that one.

BeetyAxe · 14/05/2022 09:21

The size 14 is far better, but if you’re anything like me you might gain a few pounds in between now and the wedding. Do you think it will be comfortable if you did?

Resilience9to5 · 14/05/2022 09:23

You're scrutinising the fit too much. I can't tell the difference between the 14 and the 16 but overall, the impression is lovely. It's a really nice jumpsuit it looks lovely on you.

Catabogus · 14/05/2022 09:24

14 is vastly better! Is there any way to take the 16 in, or let the bust out a tiny bit on the 14 if you’re worried?

Awrite · 14/05/2022 09:33

The 14 is lovely on you.

My personal view that for a wedding or other dressed up do the main event is the dress or ,in your case, jumpsuit.

Unless the jacket is tailored as a 2 piece with the dress ( see eg Camilla and Megan Markle's mum and Oprah at Harry's wedding) wearing a jacket obscures the dress in a way a shawl doesn't.

KittenKong · 14/05/2022 09:35

I think the jumpsuit is lovely - probably better for the tall/long if leg - but it’s a gorgeous colour.

OldTinHat · 14/05/2022 09:36

The 14 is far more flattering! It looks amazing. The 16 is okay, the 14 is gorgeous.

KittenKong · 14/05/2022 09:38

More importantly (from experience) can you get out of it easily to go to a pee??

MarmiteCoriander · 14/05/2022 09:42

The 14 does look snug, but more importantly, can you bend, sit, walk comfortably in it? That is all that matters. Try it with support wear underneath to smooth the stomach, and possibly a minimiser bra and it might fit alot better. Lovely jumpsuit though.

GarlicGnocchi · 14/05/2022 09:44

14 looks better

PomRuns · 14/05/2022 10:21

14 looks lovely. Does it feel tight ??

Isabelle70 · 14/05/2022 10:23

@MikeWozniaksMohawk not uncomfortable at all. I have the 14 on order again and should arrive on Tuesday
@BeetyAxe if anything I should loose a bit of tum as back to salads for lunch at work rather than the leftovers from the night before in the winter!
@Resilience9to5 I have a terrible habit of buying clothes a size to big for me. It doesn't help that the assistant in the Phase Eight concession said to size up in there outfits.
@Awrite and @OldTinHat thank you 😊
@KittenKong I can do the 16 no problems but the 14 was a bit more work but the zip was stiff as even doing it up to send back it was catching on the waistband area. Hopefully the new 14 will be much better.
@MarmiteCoriander yes can move around it fine and it did feel good on. I have a wear your own bra body to wear with it now so will give that a try when the next 14 arrives .

Thank you all for your comments, I feel so much better and hope the new one will be ok 😀
What is even better is that John Lewis has it with 15% off so the price is going down the longer I take to decide!
