Which of these Cartier watches do you like best?

Just as the title says! I've promised myself for a long time that I would invest in a luxury watch when I was able to and it comes down to these two Cartier watches, which I can decide between.

Which one would you choose? Rectangular face is the classic Tank Must and the circular face is the Balloon Bleu.

Deffo the tank.

How much do they charge for servicing?

Angrymum22 · 02/04/2022 00:14

Square one. Timelessly elegant and won’t date ( sorry for the pun). I wanted a very similar Longine one but couldn’t source one when I was looking.
I wanted an automatic rather than quartz since they need less maintenance. My son ster has a lovely Omega sea master that costs the earth to have the battery changed because it has to be sent away to have the seal done properly. Since she doesn’t use it to do anything more than wash up she no longer bothers but it still has to be done by an experienced jeweller.

Sonster? Sister

Tank. I have it and I love it. Bring it to Australia for servicing - last time I had mine done it was AUD$400 for the service at Cartier in Sydney although about 2-3 years ago now.

Eloise666 · 02/04/2022 00:19

Tank 😍. I’ve been looking at this but black with gold hardware.

ToothGrinder · 02/04/2022 00:19

These are just the first two pictures that come up when I Google "Cartier watches women".

Surely you need to do a bit more research OP? Like go into a shop at least?

Appleblum · 02/04/2022 00:19

Ah I don't know, that's why I got both! In my opinion both are classic watches but the ballon bleu comes across as younger and more casual, probably why I got it first. As I got older and wanted a more mature looking watch I then got the tank. DH thinks the tank is boring though.

HomeHomeInTheRange · 02/04/2022 00:31

I don’t like the way the circular watch face is interrupted in the round one.

BestPyjamas · 02/04/2022 00:51

I prefer the balloon bleu. I think it's more feminine looking, which I like.

100problems · 02/04/2022 11:35

Always the Tank. I have one, it is a lovely piece.

NewYearCalavicci · 02/04/2022 11:51

I prefer the Tank , I agree with pp go and try them on .
Many years, ago I was in a similar position but with much cheaper 2atches and was surprised how different they felt when wearing them . One was much heaver than the other.

NETSRIK · 02/04/2022 11:54

The square one is the best by far

3peassuit · 02/04/2022 11:54

What a lovely dilemma. Of the two, I prefer the Tank but they are both beautiful watches.

Chewbecca · 02/04/2022 12:03

I love the tank but we do need to see them on your wrist to be sure it's the one for you.

5329871e · 02/04/2022 13:34

Both are lovely. I considered getting the Tank but decided against it because it’s quartz, and if I’m spending that sort of money I’d like a proper mechanism. Ballon Bleu is the next price bracket up, isn’t it?

I ended up getting a Longines which is a bit of a blend of the two you’ve got there - elegant Roman numerals, round face, automatic.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 02/04/2022 13:37

Classic tank for me.

RandomUsernameHere · 02/04/2022 13:47

The Tank definitely. It's a classic and rightly so, it's lovely.

RubiesandRose · 02/04/2022 14:44

For those suggesting I try them on, I have tried the balloon Bleu on and really liked it! I was going to order it when I saw someone on TV wearing the Tank and like PP have posters have said, it looked really classic, which got me questioning my decision and hence my post.

Yes, I need to try them both on my wrist and hope the answer is obvious. The Balloon Bleu is the next price bracket up, but this is something I promised to buy myself when I was in a position to do so and for me it's more about getting what I am going to be happy with for years to come as opposed to the price difference.

It's just weird that like I say when I Google those are the first two hits I get, and from the same retailer you're considering too.

Obviously you've done a lot of research though especially the ongoing costs etc.

PegasusReturns · 02/04/2022 15:12

The tank definitely

ISpyCobraKai · 02/04/2022 15:13

Circular face.
Gorgeous watch btw.

TheDogsMother · 02/04/2022 15:15

I have the Tank Francaise and bought it in the late 90s. I've worn it pretty much constantly since then. It costs twice what I paid for it Duty Free back then so it's been a good investment even with servicing costs. Enjoy your lovely watch.

luckylavender · 02/04/2022 16:36

Tank. Classic

honeylou42 · 02/04/2022 21:08

Bleu 🤍

RestingMurderousFace · 02/04/2022 21:15

Tank, no contest.
