Which dress?

Attending two wedding this year. One in April and one in October. Hoping to get one dress for both.
Here are the ones I am a looking at but each has its minor niggles.
Dress 1- will need control pants and I'd rather not wear if avoidable.
Dress 2- will it itch under my arms
Dress 3- is black and white oaky for a wedding?
Which would you pick?

Third one for me

KylieCharlene · 30/03/2022 14:11

I really love no.3 and would choose that one. Black and white is fine for a wedding. You could get a beautiful shawl for your shoulders in October.
To my untrained eye no.1 looks a bit dated.
No 2. could have a touch of bridesmaid about it. I do think it's lovely though.

SpringLobelia · 30/03/2022 14:13

2 or 3. Both are lovely.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/03/2022 14:14

3
One looks a bit night time
Two is too bridesmaid

Don't wear a shawl though!

girlmom21 · 30/03/2022 14:16

I really like 2

merryhouse · 30/03/2022 14:17

1: I don't get out much nowadays
2: I'm one of the bride's best mates
3: I'm the mysterious sophisticated Italian various people vaguely know

Depends on your colouring but I vote 2 without hesitation.
Black or B/W so boring at a wedding, even though it's a beautiful shape

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 30/03/2022 14:31

I'd bite for 2 or 3. But would probably go with 3. I wouldn't wear 2 to an October wedding. Plus I agree with others that it could look a bit bridesmaidy (I think anything g pastel & chiffon can really)

Just realised the bridesmaid are wearing pale blue so maybe not the second. Might look for style of 3 in another colour!

3 is gorgeous, could you wear a coloured hat or fascinator then match shoes and bag if you're worried about the bkack/white?

LazyMareofEastown · 30/03/2022 14:56

I only like No 2 but see you've ruled it out as being too similar to the bridesmaids.

I don't like 3 at all and really don't think it says mysterious, sophisticated or Italian. The shape and the too large floral pattern just scream generic Debenhams wedding guest to me. Usually accessorised with a big ugly fascinator.

What's your size and budget OP?

Size 10, budget up for £80. The more I look at these the less I like them. Seen lively ones on Shein but don't trust it! Will consider recommendations. I'm quite short which makes things a little harder.

I have to agree with @LazyMareofEastown about the generic wedding guest vibes of 3 - which is absolutely fine if it suits you and you want to blend in.

Going against the grain a bit but I think 1 is the nicest dress (2 definitely screams bridesmaid). I can’t quite tell if it’s black or navy - black and I agree too eveningy, but navy could be accessorised really nicely.

londonmummy1966 · 30/03/2022 15:13

Coast have a sale at the moment with hundreds of dresses in your price range, quite a few with the neckline you like.

Tomatel · 30/03/2022 15:17

Mmm, sorry but I think the first one is too nightclubby and I wouldn't wear black to a wedding. The second one is a bit too Christmas partyish and the last one is a bit old fashioned. If you are a size 10, I'm sure you could find something that is much nicer, sorry!

SirChenjins · 30/03/2022 15:18

3, definitely. 1 is a bit 'short black lacey' meh, 2 is more like a prom or bridesmaid's dress.

I'd keep looking if none are grabbing you though Smile

How about this OP? Similar to No 3 but in a more modern style

Never used that company are they any good? I'm a bit nervous about buying it online at a place I can't return to store.
