This thread has bought back a memory.
My mu. Had one and my dad buys a charm for ever significant event in their lives. So he hmgot a house for the first house they bought, an aeroplane for dust holiday abroad, a football when England won tbe cup, a storm for tbe first baby etc. It's a monster of a bracelet! I dont like it but I like their way of 'making memories' from the mid 60's!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/03/2022 11:27

@Viviennemary

Pandora is ok for schoolchildren but not for adults. And the ridiculous inflated prices for what is basically tat.
This is always trotted out on these threads about Pandora. I always ask this question - find me an alternative as I've tried some and they've broken!
evilharpy · 24/03/2022 11:35

I just can't cope with anything chunky or dangly on my wrists at all. I have some nice wooden bangles but they last about five minutes before they annoy me and I have to take them off.

My mum has a gold charm bracelet that my dad bought her charms for during the 60s and 70s but I'd never be able to wear it. I love all the charms though.

windmill26 · 24/03/2022 11:43

I love charm bracelets but not the Pandora or similar kind. Ideally I would go for a vintage one .They make me think of summer in Palm Beach in the 60s / 70s ...Kaftans,cocktails rings...that kind of vibe.

Popsicle33 · 24/03/2022 11:53

I assume you mean 'think of'.

I've had a classic silver one since I was 15 and it's full of beautiful and significant charms. I've got some vintage charms from my great grandmother which are well over 100 years old.

MedusasBadHairDay · 24/03/2022 11:56

@LovelyYellowLabrador

I was thinking of something like this From fable England With little birds and animals on ….
I really really want this one, but it was saying out of stock when I looked the other day.
LovelyYellowLabrador · 24/03/2022 11:56

Here this type of thing

Well it’s for myself plus I’m ordering a necklace for a friends birthday too

Those Fable enamel charms are beautiful. The bracelets wouldn't work for me - I'd be forever catching then on things. I might buy one of the necklaces though.

LadyPropane · 24/03/2022 12:07

Looks gorgeous but will catch on stuff. I suppose it depends what you're doing while you wear it. Day at the office in front of computer, or drinks and dinner with friends, would be fine. Anything fiddly or physical you'd have to take it off.

ScarlettDarling · 24/03/2022 12:31
Agree with the PP that they're awful for catching in your clothing.

I've got loads of Annie Haak bracelets and wear them in a stack. They're more easy to wear. They've all got different sort of charms on but it's very delicate and not clumpy. www.anniehaakdesigns.co.uk/bracelets/bracelet-stacks
I’ve just followed your link and I love those Annie Haak bracelets. I’m so tempted!!

Funnily enough, this is exactly how I wear mine. I love a kaftan.
LovelyYellowLabrador · 24/03/2022 12:38

Well you could it as a charm necklace say buy five then attach them to a necklace might catch less

LittleGwyneth · 24/03/2022 15:32

I absolutely love the vintage ones, reminds me I must get my more recent additions soldered on. Hate Pandora with a burning passion, always have.

PukkaP · 24/03/2022 15:34

They're OK for children

Northernsoullover · 24/03/2022 15:35

I've just been given a Pandora bracelet for my birthday. I like it 😂. It's a bangle though. It doesn't catch. I doubt I'll have a million charms on it but it was bought with love from a dear friend.

ImAvingOops · 24/03/2022 18:45

I think the bangles are really pretty

NeedleNoodle3 · 24/03/2022 19:26

I have a silver Tiffany’s one with a little shoe, two different bags, a key and an ice skate. I love it, the charms are so cute, some are silver and some Tiffany blue.

BusterGonad · 24/03/2022 20:35

The Fable charms are so gorgeous. Particularly the deer. I love them.

MrsDThomas · 24/03/2022 21:20

Hate them. Esp pandora. Tarnishing tat!

I love Joma for every day wear. And i wear earrings and bracelets made by a local maker.

Fairislefandango · 24/03/2022 21:26

I really don't like them. Not Pandora ones, not vintage silver or hold ones not ones with little enamel animals on. There's just something naff and cheesy about them somehow, whatever the price tag!

Kanaloa · 24/03/2022 21:30

Some are nice and some aren’t. If you like one you should get one!

DramaAlpaca · 24/03/2022 21:32

Nope, far too fussy for me. I don't like them at all. Unfortunately I inherited a rather splendid old one, complete with lots of charms, but it's kept in our little safe as I'll never wear it.

Snailhaterz2 · 24/03/2022 21:36

I inherited my mothers which is gold and heavy with lots of charms. I very rarely wear it, partly because I'm scared of losing it, and also because it tends to catch on things. If I ever get really skint, I'm hoping I can sell it!
