Can I ask what works for you if you have dark circles under eyes?

I’ve been using the eclait highlighter, but it doesn’t really seem to do much now.

What works for you?

@dipdye

A tan, as pp's say. Also, wearing colours that suit you, next to your face.

Obviously sleep helps

Sleep makes no difference to me so it's really not obvious. Fake tan does help slightly.

Fortunately no hollows yet. My favourite concealer, if my eyes are looking shadowed and tired is By Terry, Terrybly Densiliss. Expensive but lasts ages - l know you're supposed to replace but mine must be over a year old now.

Also if I'm extra tired I discovered, incidentally, that Chantecaille Eye base on the eyelid is wondrous. It's quite drying, I find, so I apply with my finger rather than directly from the stick.

@stayathomer

I know people hate hearing people saying drink more water and sleep but I have started putting my phone away earlier and drinking more water and my dark circles have definitely lessened, to the extent that people are starting to actively say am looking well! Rimmel concealer (radiance one) and cerave eye cream too
Have you had them your whole life though? I wonder if these make a difference to those who have them through tiredness or being run down rather than genetic/hereditary.
ArabeI · 30/03/2022 20:04

@sweepeep

Honestly...more sleep 🤣
Yes! It really tells now if I can't manage enough sleep.
Howdiditgetsobad · 30/03/2022 20:08

Following with interest. More sleep would definitely help, but tell that to my 6 month old.

I have awful under eye bags, both hollow and puffy and some dark pigmentation. I use Sisley under eye concealer. It’s good but at £78 I’d like to find a cheaper alternative!

Milomonster · 31/03/2022 08:17

So you have deep hollows? I did have along with dark circles, which were banished with eye filler. Something to do with light reflection.

Howdiditgetsobad · 31/03/2022 16:43

@Milomonster I’m absolutely considering fillers but can’t whilst I’m breastfeeding. We’re you happy with the result?

Milomonster · 31/03/2022 16:46

@Howdiditgetsobad yes very much so! I look less tired. The only thing I’d say is, at times, my eyes look a bit puffy - maybe when there’s fluid retention or I’m over-tired. I’m the whole, I’m happy and would have again.

catelina · 31/03/2022 16:49

Clarins instant concealer was a total winner on mine, but it's been discontinued, god knows why.

No idea what I'm going to replace it with when my tube runs out.

Lookingoutside · 31/03/2022 16:50

Super luminous under eye genius from Beauty Pie.

It reflects light rather than concealing and is the only thing that has worked for me.

SmellyWellyWoo · 31/03/2022 16:51

Tear trough fillers have worked well for me but are pricey. I'm going to try micro needling with mesotherapy soon.

ConkerBonkers · 31/03/2022 16:52

Mac painterly Paint pot. It goes over dark circles, it's an eyeshadow primer. It's amazing. Flawless. Great coverage

Thewheelsfalloffthebus · 31/03/2022 17:36

More sleep.

Howdiditgetsobad · 31/03/2022 18:25

Thanks @Milomonster that’s good to know. I’m desperate to look less tired. I don’t mind the wrinkles and my skin is good but looking knackered and haggard because of the eye bags is miserable. I’m hoping I can stop breastfeeding in 6 months time and then j will treat myself!

Notthatbad · 31/03/2022 22:45

@Milomonster can I ask how painful the fillers were? Also, how did you find recovery with bruising and swelling? Thanks!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 31/03/2022 22:58

You have my sympathy, I've tried so many concealers over the years, including many suggested on this thread, which haven't really helped. I suppose that what works for one person doesn't work for another.
However, some one asked a similar question a few weeks ago and No 7 lift and luminate serum concealer was mentioned by a few people. It's the best I've had so far. Doesn't hide them completely but they certainly look better. I always apply eye cream and let it sink in for 5-10 mins if I've time before applying the concealer.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 01/04/2022 17:23

@Gwenhwyfar - in relation to my tear trough fillers, I think they didn’t make much difference because they were going for subtle and I have deep hollows (plus pigmentation).

I did not have again as was told hollows were too deep and now my aging skin too thin Sad

Iggly · 01/04/2022 17:25

For me it’s ditching alcohol completely and drinking loads of water. And eating healthier.

I’m not very good at keeping it up though!!!

Oh dear. Can I ask how old you are? Before I leave it too late.

I had dark circles at the age of 12. Obviously not caused by alcohol.
LdeS · 01/04/2022 18:25

I have very dark circles which are hereditary. I've tried many concealers. Most say they cover dark pigmentation but they dont really. So far Kevyn Aucoin SSE has worked for me. Tiny dab. Less is more and you can build. Plus it comes in many shades/tones

Naimee87 · 01/04/2022 18:35

Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

SmellyWellyWoo · 01/04/2022 18:37

@Naimee87 sleep doesn't work for everyone. I've had dark circles since I was a kid, both of my DC have them and get plenty of sleep! It's often genetic.

SmellyWellyWoo · 01/04/2022 18:38

@Iggly and alcohol obviously not an issue for either DC! I have them whatever lifestyle I lead.

CocoLoco123 · 01/04/2022 18:48

Hyaluronic acid injections. It's obviously the most invasive procedure, but if you have dark circles due to volume loss then no concealer will cover that.
