Is a Mulberry Roxanne a bit passe now?

Have seen a beautiful one up for sale, second hand and I think it's a classic, but is it a bit 2006?!

OP posts:
ThenAgainMaybeIWont · 20/03/2022 19:24

Probably yes.

However, if you love it and want it then it really doesn't matter a bit!

ZaraSizeMedium · 20/03/2022 19:27

I love mine (also secondhand), I don’t care if anyone thinks it’s passé.

My only complaint is that it’s bloody heavy though.

Sexnotgender · 20/03/2022 19:31

I think they’re so old they’re probably back again! Most people wouldn’t recognise it.

I’ve got a beautiful emerald green one.

dumdumduuuummmmm · 20/03/2022 19:33

Mulberry is a bit passé tbh. It's...functional. Tends to be the brand of choice of women who want a 'designer' bag but want to limit the amount the spend. Also tend to be bought by women who don't wear anything else designer. Just own that one Mulberry bag that they drag around for years.

PinkGinBigGrin · 20/03/2022 19:37

I've really gone off my mulberry's lately. I have a few - I think my first one was purchased about 18 years ago and I usually use my cross-body (Anthony?) as an everyday bag but I think they've become far too ubiquitous. I get sick of seeing so many of them (as well as loads of fakes) everywhere.

Ive got my eye on an LV bag but I have to justify spending nearly £2k on it! I really want something different than my mulberry's though.

Agree they are really heavy too - dh bought me one that I've only used about twice as it's so heavy!

Just bought my first LV, it’s beautiful ❤️❤️ What are you after?

IWasFunBeforeMum · 20/03/2022 19:41

Classic.

PinkGinBigGrin · 20/03/2022 19:54

@Sexnotgender

I've got my eye on these two - just can't decide if they're too much for an everyday bag as I want something to replace the mulberry I use. I like some of the LV monogram print bags too but they never seem to be in stock!

What did you get if you don't mind me asking?

So what you're saying is it's the handbag choice of common people? Nice display of snobbery right there. Hmm
RogueV · 20/03/2022 19:58

Hmm just googled. Not for me sorry OP. Have you seen the Alexas?

Would disagree that all of Mulberry is passé although their new softies are too try hard and very cheap looking

Sexnotgender · 20/03/2022 20:00

@PinkGinBigGrin
Neonoe in marine rouge empreinte.

Lovely choices! Too ladylike for me 😂 for a daily bag I’d probably get the pochette métis.

Get yourself on the resale pages on Facebook if you aren’t already. I recommend the WOC lounge and a little luxury for ladies and gentlemen.

Yep, so rude. That one mulberry bag they drag around 🙄 vile.

CaMePlaitPas · 20/03/2022 20:04

It is a bit passé but they'll come back eventually. If you like it buy one, life is too short Grin They don't look frumpy if that's what passé is code for btw.

😂😂 all bags are functional! Otherwise it’s somewhat missing the point?! OP - the Roxanne isn’t to my taste but if you love it then go for it! Life is far too short to only buy things that other people tell you that you should be buying. Fwiw @dumdumduuuummmmm my SIL is a bag aficionado and has many expensive classics in her stable alongside…would you believe, a mulberry. So 🤷‍♀️
PinkGinBigGrin · 20/03/2022 20:06

That is beautiful Sexnotgender - you may have changed my mind!

And OP, I agree with others that if you love the mulberry you should get it - they are a classic definitely.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 20/03/2022 20:06

Yeah, I think that style of bag with lots of little buckles is quite dated. But if you've always wanted one, does it really matter?

Sexnotgender · 20/03/2022 20:19

Thanks @PinkGinBigGrin it was my 40th birthday present to myself 😊

RogueV · 20/03/2022 20:20

Oh my that LV bag 😍

Lurking9to5 · 20/03/2022 20:35

Yes, but, if you like it buy it.

Lurking9to5 · 20/03/2022 20:35

I'd go for the mulberry Iris tote right now if you're going to spend at Mulberry

ZenNudist · 20/03/2022 20:42

They are horrid. I remember that style being in. It's really not due a comeback yet.

UsernameInTheTown · 21/03/2022 08:11

Romances are gorgeous. Weight a tonne though as they are made from gorgeous thick leather.
Funny how it's always the people who can't afford Mulberry who bitch about the brand, with clearly no experience of it.

Seriously, what's your issue? Nothing wrong with buying a good quality bag that will last years. And as previously stated bags are functional that's their purpose.

I would suggest that using a bag for years is a very good idea.

Maireas · 21/03/2022 08:43

I've had a few Mulberrys, I've always found the quality good - but they are heavy! If you want it, go for it. Trends always pass and come round again.
