Non wired bras

walkersareback · 18/03/2022 14:52

I have also worn under wired bras all my life - except when pregnant and breastfeeding- even my sports bras are wired.

Recently whichever bra I choose, the wires are so uncomfortable- bras that were previously comfortable.

Went to a yoga class and wore a non wired sports bras - over the head type. It was SO comfortable! At 54 I think my days of underwire bras may be over.

Can anybody recommend a bra without wires that is comfortable-or should I invest in a trip to Rigby and Peller or Bravissimo?

I have large boobs - 36E/F

Thank you

H&M do non wired t shirts bras which are great. I’m an E cup so they do a decent range of sizes. I always need to go up a band size but not a cup, size from my usual though.

Pyri · 18/03/2022 14:56

I had exactly the same issue and not sure I will ever go back to wired bras!

My absolute favourite is the M&S flexifit, it goes up to H cup and is so comfy

Good old Molke is good too but ugly

Thank you - ladies - I will go and check them out. We have a massive h and m close by so will pop in.

M & S - will check out online

Royce do non-wired bras, either direct or on bravissimo.

Alfr · 18/03/2022 15:10

Another fan of the M&S FLexifit. I'm a 38H, and they are the most comfy bras I have ever worn!

Livinthedream84 · 18/03/2022 21:36

Triumph best ever but not sexy lol

RampantIvy · 18/03/2022 21:41

What dress size are you?

I've got these from Asda, adjustable straps (wider than they look in the pic) and deep 3 hook & eye clasp at the back. Really comfortable and good support, you'd probably need to buy in store though as the sizing is S, M, L etc. I'm a 36DD and bought the L.

@walkersareback I hope you didn't think I was being rude to ask you that. I wondered whether it might mean that you are wearing the wrong sized bra, hence the question.

Have you been measured and fitted recently by a proper bra fitter (not M & S)?

GreenTuftyFlowers · 19/03/2022 17:18

M&S Flexifit crop tops are AMAZING. Eliminate bulges and double up as a proper 'layer' so doesn't matter if they show under v necked jumpers etc.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/03/2022 17:20

John Lewis do quite a few- there is their Willow bra and a similar one in navy, cream and black. Padded and a bit of uplift.

Don't worry I'm not offended. Not been measured in many years - maybe a trip to Bravissimo/Rigby & Peller is needed.

Just saw these in m and a today - they do look comfy - as does the cami top.

Do you not find though that you end up with a uniboob? I have worn Triumph minimizers for years but would love some comfy pull on types now I don't have to dress for the office. I have never found a non wired bra that I don't spill out of when I am gardening. The crop top types just roll up under the boobs. Size 18 38e so reading this thread with interest.

Gave wired bras up a few years back. I wear yoga bras at home but for work days I have fantasie Jacqueline unwired ones. Once you know you size, eBay have them at reasonable prices.

Nosetickle · 19/03/2022 18:20

Another vote for the m&s flexifit here!

iCouldSleepForAYear · 19/03/2022 21:23

I got one of these today, and it's spendy but incredibly comfy.

Also this bralette, comfy and surprisingly supportive:

GeneLovesJezebel · 19/03/2022 21:27

I gave up wired bras several years ago. I get mine (DD cup) from M&S.
I’ve also started wearing the thin cropped top/bras from M&S in bed.

walkersareback · 02/04/2022 10:46

Update - I bought a few flexifit ones from m and s but they just squash my boobs together and I look like Les Dawson!

Will investigate the other brands mentioned.

Sugar candy bralettes are nice too. They have hooks, but no wires and it still looks like you have two boobs.

Rina66 · 02/04/2022 15:14

I have to say most of the ones I've tried do give a sort of mono boob, I think anything over a C cup needs serious support that non underwired bras just don't give. Anyone remember cross your heart bras????? Maybe they're the answer!

Blimecory · 02/04/2022 15:18

Can be worth looking at post-surgery bras in places like M and S.

Bananaman123 · 02/04/2022 18:24

I wear m and s flex if it 42h around the house and dog walk etc and they are brilliant.

Bananaman123 · 02/04/2022 18:24

Duh you just said you tried them, sorry.
