Jeans

I know this has been done to death but I am struggling with jeans.

My favourite old Zara jeans look dated. I've got some Whistles barrel leg jeans I got on eBay but they honestly do nothing for me. I have some H&M high waist vintage ones in grey which are great but in blue they just don't fit (wierd inconsistent sizing).

I just want some mid blue, non distressed modern looking jeans. Please for the love of god can someone just tell me what to buy?

Me too. Following!

Mercurial123 · 18/03/2022 07:57

I've been wearing Toteme straight legs for the last 12 months.

Loopytiles · 18/03/2022 08:00

Budget?

sunshineforest · 18/03/2022 08:47

Could go up to £100 for the absolute perfect jeans. Or maybe even a bit more. But would prefer to spend less

One should wear the style of jeans that are most flattering to one's' body, really.
With knowledge that no-one looks good in true skinny ( tight at ankle) and most look fine with slim( loose at the ankle) and barrel leg is universally unflattering.

I'm loving the m and s cigarette jeans at the moment.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/03/2022 11:23

Unlike pp I actually find the barrel leg very flattering, but I think it depends on your shape - I have a small waist and big bum. My other go-to is Levi’s 501 crops, which are a straight fit, and come in loads of colours, in a nice heavy denim. They do a non-cropped version too.

Gonnagetgoing · 18/03/2022 11:35

I'd go to a few shops and try on styles. E.g. a boutique, Zara or larger Sainsburys, M&S. We can't tell you what to buy.

I recently went into a local boutique where they had lots of styles (balloon etc) but the one style I wanted which flattered me was mom jeans - either high waisted or otherwise.

I picked up some skinnies in Sainsburys too but they're going back because though they're fairly flattering I prefer mom jeans now.

Next slim and shape. High rise, keep their shape really well (no constantly hitching them up). I have the slim straight and the bootcut and love both.

Oh and don’t be afraid to go a size up if needed, they come up small.

I got a pair of bootcut jeans at Asda a few weeks ago, they've never been off my legs, lol. I've had so many nice comments too, I'm amazed at them, only £20. I have loads of jeans, from cheap to expensive but I go to these Asda ones as a default.

evilharpy · 18/03/2022 12:08

I've heard very good things about from & Other Stories. Haven't actually tried them though.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 18/03/2022 12:10

M&S have very good jeans - mom, boyfriend or balloon leg.

buckleten · 18/03/2022 12:13

I second M&S, they have a huge choice of cuts and colour, at a good price.

Carbis · 18/03/2022 14:44

Another vote for M&S jeans. I have a load of premium brand jeans that never get worn, I always go back to M&S. That may be because the cut suits my pear shape!

Imtoooldforallthis · 18/03/2022 15:10

I cant seem to do the link but I've just bought the Next mid blue lift and slim bootcut jeans. They are super flattering even on my short apple shaped figure.

HiGunny · 18/03/2022 22:33

I just bought a pair of mid blue mom jeans from Next and I absolutely love them! I thought I'd never part from my skinnies but these really suit me. They're 100% cotton as well and a really thick denim so I'm hoping they wear well.

WandaThePanda · 19/03/2022 09:14

Can’t go far wrong with 501s

Fedupsotired · 19/03/2022 09:23

I'm struggling, I keep buying mum jeans but they look shit on me so I'm sticking to skinnies at the moment. I have some Levi 721s which are not quite as skinny and look good with trainers

LaCerbiatta · 19/03/2022 09:26

I really struggle with jeans. Have to be slim ish and low waist and thick material, not the 'soft' type. Mom jeans look horrendous, same for barrel, anything baggy and anything high waisted.

Was in M&S the other day and tried all the ones they had. ALL were shockingly unflattering! My best ones are g-star, iceberg and rag and bone (these last 2 from tkmax). Also Levis 712, which are really hard to find. And Massimo Dutti I can almost buy without trying.

All this to say that for some people jeans are not easy and what suits one person may not suit another.

absolutelynotfabulous · 19/03/2022 09:36

I'm also struggling. I can understand why skinnies have been popular for so long - especially the ones with stretch - you just stick them on and way to go.

I'm trying to wean myself off them in the name of fashion but I can't seem to find a style that's easy to get right. My favourite shape is the Hush Agnes (straight, not skinny) but I'm too fat to get into them comfortably at the moment. I've bought some Hollys from Peacocks which are OK but quite a baggy fit on me which makes it more difficult to find tops to match.

I've got a pair of balloon leg ASOS ones which were flattering and dirt cheap but inevitably no longer availalble.

High waists just swallow me up.

I've got s pair of Levi 501s which I like but I'm too fat for those too atm

Why is it so hard?

TwoBlondes · 19/03/2022 09:38

I find M and S make my stomach look enormous and have too much elastane. I ordered a load of different styles from Zara and ended up keeping four pairs!
