Best high waisted leggings?

You know the proper high waisted ones that make you feel all "secure" and tucked in? Suitable for being a mum at home and wearing out and about as well.

If you've found this page in search of tights that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best tights useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Lululemon are incomparable, Sweaty Betty second best option and currently 50% off.

Sainsburys TU Luxury leggings are very good - thick, wide waist band, thick material that doesn't show your knickers & only £10 per pair.

Mogtheblackcat · 17/03/2022 19:52

Snag also excellent.

FunnyTalks · 17/03/2022 20:03

I'd have said sweaty Betty but actually the high waisted good move leggings from M&S do function better in my opinion. SB look slightly more flattering but the M&S ones have a much higher waist (and drawstring) which makes them more comfortable and better at staying up.

Queenieke from Amazon and they have side pockets.

I was going to suggest these too. I'm wearing a pair right now in the black cherry colour and they're just so comfortable. They also don't budge when you're on a spin bike - so many others roll down and become annoying.

Laurella mama - getting great reviews, very reasonable price and supporting a young mum designer

Sweaty Betty and Spanx for dressing up.

itsnotmeitsu · 18/03/2022 00:17

On holiday in Paris last year I went into the Gap store. Our Gap store at home had gone, so thought I'd have a look. Came out with their high rise universal jeggings and I love them. Once I was home I ordered another pair of what I thought was the same online, but they're called 'leggings'. Whatever, they're just the same. They look like skinny jeans and are very comfortable. Also, I've paid far more for skinny jeans made out of the same materials than the Gap ones cost.

itsnotmeitsu · 18/03/2022 00:21

Looking back on the thread responses it seems you're looking for 'leggings' leggings, so ignore my suggestion Smile

Are the Sweaty Betty ones sporty fabric or everyday soft fabric please?

yorkshireteaspoonie · 18/03/2022 08:45

Mint velvet for a 'everyday' fabric choice. They come in three different lengths

SKIMS all the way. Amazing

cwanne · 18/03/2022 11:18

I second mint velvet leggings Smile

nearlyspringyay · 18/03/2022 11:49

Fabletics. Sign up for the two for £24 and then cancel. They are the best leggings I've ever had.

Felicity42 · 18/03/2022 11:52

I got a great pair of high-waisted leggings in Tesco. Soft, stretchy good quality fabric.

Somewhere in between I think. Like soft fabric, not shiny athletic fabric like Tikiboos, but it wicks sweat. I don't wear leggings for everyday so maybe a poor judge but I can't see that they would look at all out of place if worn for non sporty purposes.
Carbis · 18/03/2022 14:40

Sweaty Betty high waisted power leggings are amazing at holding in my mum tum but are still really comfy. They are in the sale the moment in a few colours but sadly not in black.

The M&S ones roll down on me.

WalkingOnSonshine · 18/03/2022 14:44

Second Queenieke, they are amazing and have replaced my Sweaty Betty ones.

FunnyTalks · 19/03/2022 08:09

I got a beautiful pair of SB powers in the sale. The most flattering leggings I've tried but they don't stay up on me. I often add drawstring to leggings but these have a weird thick bonded panel at the top - which looks fab - but I can't work out how to add a string with no double layer of fabric to put it in. I have caught myself wondering if braces would work....
