Me+Em fans

I bought some Me+Em joggers following recommendations on another thread. They were £57 in the sale. Half price. For me, this is very expensive for a pair of casual joggers. I'm thinking TK MAXX prices for similar items would be a fraction.
Can anyone vouch for the quality?
I'm toying with sending them back as feel I can't justify the price. At the same time, if they last for years and years they might be worth it, but will they last? My £45 Boden ones did not last a year before getting holes in them.
Thanks

I found Me+Em to be very overpriced for the quality. Best joggers Ive bought recently were M&Co, about £15 on sale.

newyorkbreakfast · 16/03/2022 12:04

Thank you. I agree: can't see how on earth they could be worth £57 let alone £115 new. My son's Nike bottoms he has had for years and they were nothing like the price.

I’m a fan but think they’re massively overpriced, also the styles are becoming a bit samey
Some of the prices are bonkers

XingMing · 16/03/2022 16:11

I have been a fan, but the last year or so there's not been anything that's really appealed. They are too fond of frilly trims and puffed sleeves right now.

Mercurial123 · 16/03/2022 16:18

I'd only buy in the sale. They are really overpriced as much of their clothing is polyester or a polyester mix. Not sure why they get so much love. There's much better quality out there.

Agree, far too many frills! Also their marketing’s annoying me a bit. I found their Sunday morning blog from their founder really smug Blush
BreakfastOfWaffles · 16/03/2022 16:30

I have their palazzo pants. They are nice, but as PP have said, you can get the same niceness for less elsewhere.

newyorkbreakfast · 16/03/2022 20:45

It must be top notch PR. I've returned my parcel and my conscience is far happier! Off to M&S now...

I just got a cashmere jersey from there which i was doubtful about but the quality and colour are superb.

NatriumChloride · 16/03/2022 20:51

Agree, some very frilly, outdated designs, lots of polyester. Not sure why the hype exists. Glad you returned. I’ve become a huge M&S fan recently - they are doing so many things right.

Pigtailsandall · 16/03/2022 21:36

I've got a few basic things, all in the sale and nothing frilly, and I do like them. So far quality seems good.

OP, I got lovely heavyweight joggers from Uniqlo for £20 which I'm wearing nearly daily

errrr - frills are very on trend at the moment
Ponks · 16/03/2022 22:18

I have a couple of pairs of trousers (bought in offer/ in sale) and while they were still expensive, they are very well cut and flattering, so make me feel good. I'm happy to pay a bit more to feel good.

newyorkbreakfast · 16/03/2022 22:38

@pigtail I will look out for those joggers! Ordered some M&S ones so I'll try them first.
Besides outrageous price, I found the Me+Em joggers too long. I'm normally a 12 and the 10 was still too big. And the sweatshirt top I ordered didn't sit right with the waist of the joggers. I thought their whole USP was about everything matching, and pieces sitting perfectly with eachother and how they spend hours working on the perfect sizing. Seriously? I don't have a weird body shape and they definitely didn't work together. Maybe you've got to be over 5'5". Over and out!

I love the look of me & em, but it’s just too expensive and I don’t think it’s worth that price tag. I always wonder who shops there to be honest.

RayonSunrise · 17/03/2022 08:31

There's some nice things at Me+Em, but I agree they've started losing the plot a bit on value. Their designs are nice but a lot of pieces are so similar to other, less expensive brands they would have to offer better finishing, or better fabrics, to justify the cost. Instead they seem to be going for, "Our target market just thinks £275 for a polyester skirt is normal and they won't ask too many questions."

Stoic123 · 17/03/2022 08:34

I do like the look of some things but I went into the Marylebone shop last year and the employees were so unfriendly that I've decided not to spend any more money with them - in person or online.

I found this when I went into the shop a couple of weeks ago (was meant to be going to the sample sale but it was extremely badly organised and they'd sold out by the time we got halfway down the queue). So rude, unhelpful and unfriendly. I'm not paying £250 for a jumpsuit in a shop where the assistants are totally dismissive and refuse to tell me where to find it, then act like I've demanded they walk across hot coals when I find it and politely request a different size - it's not my problem they only put the size 6s and 8s on display.

I wasn't blown away by the quality, either, and I think M&S has got some pretty great dupes at a fraction of the cost and without sacrificing quality.

I do have some Me+Em eBay (bargain!) purchases that I love, but I won't be buying directly from the shop in future.

toastfiend · 18/03/2022 16:02

This was in the Chelsea store, so maybe it's the same in all their shops. 🤷‍♀️

I don't know why but there often seems to be a correlation between the more expensive the items the ruder the shop assistants. It's really odd.

Journeynotdestination · 18/03/2022 19:41

I’ll definitely give them hem a miss. I hate snotty staff. Pathetic.

DameCelia · 18/03/2022 19:46

I tried the shop, the staff were so rude I nearly wrote and complained (but didn't due to laziness).
If you're going to be rude about the customers in another language it's usually wise to be certain those customers can't understand you.

PinkTonic · 18/03/2022 20:02

I’ve got 3 pairs of trousers, quite a few sweaters and several tops from them and I love them. Great quality, washed multiple times and all looks like new. I also have several of the Boden wide leg jersey trousers which have been washed at least weekly for coming up 2 years as they are my go to WFH bottoms and they are also absolutely fine. I wash all my clothes on a cool delicates cycle.

Goodness. What did they say?

Ooh, which ones are these, @PinkTonic? Can you send a link, please? (To the Boden trousers, that is.)
Verite1 · 24/03/2022 23:13

Ive been in both Marylebone store and the Mayfair store and staff have always been lovely and friendly. I even got a free glass of Prosecco last time as the queue for changing room was too long. I do love their clothes and I have a dress from last summer that I wore so much I bought it again in a different colour. I do think a lot of their clothes are overpriced though (particularly their £450 dresses!) However the stores always seem busy and lots of designs sell out very quickly so there does seem to be a large market for them. The queue for their sample sale 2 weeks ago was mad!
