Help desperately needed with shoes

HelenWick · 09/03/2022 10:22

I have arthritis and osteoporosis and wear very comfortable cushioned shoes - I have 6 pairs of Nike Airs I wear most of the time.
I need shoes to wear with dresses. I have several weddings etc coming up this spring/summer and have a dress similar to this (but I got it second hand) www.matchesfashion.com/products/1432908?country=GBR&srsltid=AWLEVJy5dUSDwyDKNQSHrQSSKQRNYwm9j7lIAaL-1fnE52U0mILjkWWGyNU
Any ideas for very comfortable shoes for feet that are always very sore and cold?
Many thanks

That is a fantastic dress and you will be belle of the ball.

White trainers.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/03/2022 10:32

Maybe silver trainers ?
Or flat chunky lace ups, if your feet would get too cold in flat sandals.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 09/03/2022 10:34

What size are you? Wide fitting? Half size?

redambergreengo · 09/03/2022 10:39

There are some fantastic websites if you search for orthopaedic shoes.

HelenWick · 09/03/2022 10:52

I am a 4, a 37
You really think I can wear trainers?
Really?
This is life changing

@SirVixofVixHall any recommendations for comfy lace ups?
You're right, sandals are too painful and for some bizarre reason random strangers love to stand on my feet 😬

@Shehasadiamondinthesky regular 4, regular fit. Bony cold little feet 😂

Have you tried fitflops? I have 3 pairs of the same trainers I wear everywhere but I pull out my fit flops in summer.

balzamico · 09/03/2022 10:58

Uggs make sandals and shoes that my friend reports to be very comfortable

Joyfulflowers · 09/03/2022 11:02

Have a look at Fitflops - these ballet pumps may fit the bill. They also have various other styles and colours that could work.

Love your dress

Supersimkin2 · 09/03/2022 11:05

Slide on a pair of no show socks 🧦 (tk maxx) and a sheepskin insole for warmth. Nike air max are the most supportive trainers.

Gagagardener · 09/03/2022 11:16

I have large sore arthritic feet and cannot wear heels. Also swollen ankles, so seldom wear dresses, so am very envious of your purchase. I now buy all my footwear from Hotter (online, often getting extra to try on). Look at their website. Yes, I think trainers wd look good. They will also be much better on grass/lawns than slender heels. Go for it: funky, not trad glam

suburbanwinter · 09/03/2022 13:21

Absolutely gorgeous dress! You can definitely wear with white trainers - it will look super cool and fashion forward. And most importantly you will be comfortable.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/03/2022 14:23

I find fitflops very comfortable, Clarks also do some lace up brogues that are padded inside. I find Angulus very comfortable too for my wide, deep feet (high instep) when i buy the wider fitting, and if you want to splash out, Chie Mihara.
Buying half a size up, or a wider fitting, and then putting thermal insoles in might help keep your feet warm and more comfortable.

notawittyname1954 · 09/03/2022 15:09

I think a metallic trainer would look good with that dress too

these are cushioned

londonmummy1966 · 09/03/2022 15:31

Given the dress is Pleats Please I think that a pair of brogues might work with it - that architect chic aesthetic. There are quite a lot of pink ones around at the moment.

THe last ones are a dance shoe so should be pretty soft and malleable.

notawittyname1954 · 09/03/2022 15:37

@londonmummy1966 those embassy ones are gorgeous. there's these too embassylondon.co.uk/products/the-artist-light-blue-multi

Mimijamroll · 09/03/2022 15:41

I would wear wedge heel sandals. I've had comfortable sandals from fitflop, moda in pelle, reiker . The moda in pelle ones were the the smartest / most suitable for dressing up.

I quite like the loafers and the deck shoes and I think they would work with your dress.

Brogues could look good too.

Bunce1 · 09/03/2022 15:55

White or silver brogues would look great.

Or box fresh white on white Nike air 90s

londonmummy1966 · 09/03/2022 16:02

@notawittyname1954 - I think I might have lost my heart to the wolf and badger ones....

waltzingparrot · 09/03/2022 16:59

Have you got a Pavers near you? They sell loads of really cushioned, comfortable shoes.
