Can anyone wear a jumpsuit?

I love the look of jumpsuits. On any one else. I’ve tried a few on and I look like an angry toddler whose nappy is full.

I’m 5ft2 and size 18. So more Humpty sumptuous than Claudia Schiffer. Is there a jumpsuit trick out there I’m missing? Or do I just forget about them.

I’d love to wear this one at an upcoming wedding (I know I know, I’m well cheap) m.shein.co.uk/Plus-Swiss-Dot-Butterfly-Sleeve-Wide-Leg-Belted-Jumpsuit-p-2784203-cat-1927.html?scici=plussize~~ON_Banner,CN_ShopBySize,HZ_0,HI_0~~23_2~~itemPicking_00102949~~~~0 but suspect it just won’t look the way it does on the model…

@BlackAzalea

I'm wearing this to the office today fr.aboutyou.be/p/bench/tenue-d-interieur-5677076?fullscreen-mode=1 am wearing it with DMs, so I look a bit like a paratrooper Smile, but I don't care, it's so comfortable.
I can't find this on the UK site. Was ordering through the site you used straightforward?

I wore one to my daughters graduation a few years ago. I was amazed at how it seemed to skim over the bumps and really flatter me (size 18) I felt really good in it all day.

Then I saw the photos and realised I looked like Jaba the Hutt. Sad

@NiLunNiLautre I’m sure you didn’t look as bad as you think but I hear ya mate. We’ve all had days like that Sad

I'm a 16-18 5'9 hourglass shape and find that Lucy and yak and lipsy/next have some shapes that work on me

I would look diabolical in a jumpsuit.

Sickoffamilydrama · 10/03/2022 21:08

I love a jumpsuit I have a few and wear them all the time including when I'm tipsy not dragged them on the floor yet when I've been to the toilet!
I've noticed Wide leg versions seem to have a slightly more length in the body than slim leg versions.
I'm 5ft8 and a 16

I have the slackest bladder known to womankind I could never risk wearing one!

I used to be a size 18 and am currently size 16. I've tried on lots of jumpsuits over the years and always thought I looked very silly in them. Then I finally found one that worked for me when I was size 18 - it was black and had a sort of faux wrap top, but the thing that made the difference was that it was quite high waisted. I haven't got much of a waist, whatever size I am, and to the extent that I have a "narrowest point" at all it is higher than you might expect. It wasn't just me that thought this jumpsuit looked good on me, I got lots of compliments every time I wore it, including from my dad, who was over 80 at the time! Sadly, when I lost just a small amount of weight, this thing no longer worked for me at all because the top part really needed to be reasonably tight to avoid sagging open. I now have a different jumpsuit, from Primark of all places - it is a very different cut from the first one, more workmanlike and made of black denim, but again it is quite high-waisted and I think it suits me very well.

I think I've managed to keep both jumpsuits clean in normal toilets but I probably wouldn't wear one to a festival.

I love a jumpsuit. I would say though that I’ve learnt to pick ones in a decent quality fabric and I’ve finally admitted I can’t squeeze into a size 12. A 14 is much more flattering on my tummy.

Llareggub · 13/03/2022 18:23

I love jumpsuits and I have loads of them. I vary between a 14 and 18, depending on how much fun I’m having. I wear them the time, I’ve got sleeveless ones, smart ones, a denim one, lots of different colours. They all have one thing in common; a defined waist and an element of stretch.

I love my latest one. It’s a Levi’s boiler suit and perfect for spring.

Twattergy · 13/03/2022 18:33

It's all about the cut, so it's worth going to a big store to try on a few different styles to see what works and what doesn't. I look like a school boy in the boiler suit type ones (I'm petite) the olstyle that works for me is slightly cropped, wideish trouser with fitted top half. But I've only found one to date that works a few years ago from warehouse.

I think it's about body vs leg length. I'm another short-body-long-legs person & rarely find dresses to fit as the waist is always in the wrong place. Jumpsuits for some reason seem to fit - I've got a summer going-out one from Forgotten Tribes

CMOTDibbler · 13/03/2022 18:45

I had one in the 80's I loved until DM told me 'CMOT, the problem is your bum is in the wrong place' which it did look like - I have a high and round bum which can be tricky alongside a high waist.
My only real jumpsuit success is Somerset by Alice Temperley ones with wide legs and a shirred waist so the top blousons a bit
