Wasting money on shite ones that have the consistency of sudocrem (I'm looking at you Revolution)

I want a medium coverage that isn't going to go flaky or cakey!!

Am going shops tomorrow so what should I try?

OP posts:
MintyGreenDream · 07/03/2022 19:50

Armani luminous touch

MintyGreenDream · 07/03/2022 19:50

Armani luminous silk sorry not touch

ENoeuf · 07/03/2022 19:52

Oooh I know the answer to this question! Having tried Mac Bobbi Brown Clinique Clarins No7 etc etc my friend showed up wearing a Body Shop Cc cream and it’s fantastic.

I like the vegan Gosh.

BusterGonad · 07/03/2022 19:55

I would stear clear of Estee Lauder double wear if you don't like heavy foundation, it takes some practice and can be thick. I think a good all rounder is something like Clinique even better foundation. It's a light to medium finish, neither matt or dewy, glides on with ease and leaves a very natural finish. I've got the original and the glowy one. I like them both but if you are oily you might want to give the glow one a miss. I also like Lancome teint idole. It's heavier and long wear but nothing like Estee Lauder Double Wear. It leaves a satin finish and it's medium cover that's build able.

I have urban decay naked it’s nice and light doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything. However prepping your skin is important, exfoliating once or twice weekly, serum and moisturiser daily and a nice night cream keep your skin smooth and make foundations look better, they don’t cake or stick to dry patches. I find sticks drying but depends on your skin type which foundations will really work well with your skin. I have Chanel foundation for nights out etc which is lovely but ££ you don’t need much either.

LolaSparkle · 07/03/2022 19:57

I'm currently using Il Makiage and I really like it! Great colour match, not Cakey and has really good coverage :)

BusterGonad · 07/03/2022 19:58

@BOOTS52

I wear Lancome Teint Idole Ultra wear 010 and have clear pale skin with some redness that use concealer that cover is up but am going to go a shade down in colour. I started to drink lots more water and skin not so dry now. I buy cheaper make up eyeliner, lipstick etc but tried lots of other foundations and either like water or too thick and gloopy. Ask for a sample at lancome counters and they should give you a few different shades. This lasts me forever so worth it.
I'm 050 Ivory beige. I'm pale with cool pink undertones. It's the perfect match for me.
Dinnertime22 · 07/03/2022 19:59

Clinique

BOOTS52 · 07/03/2022 20:11

Thanks Buster I used to use their Tinted Moisturizer than suited me perfectly as thicker than most tinted moisturizers that are like water and gave great coverage and did not dry the skin but then they stopped making it. Will definitely go shade lighter but do love it as lasts forever on skin and not shiny and feels lightweight. xx

Nars sheer glow.

I use this with moisturiser and primer. It’s lovely.

PAFMO · 07/03/2022 20:21

N7 Hydraluminous

I recently tried the new Estée Lauder sheer Doublewear and frankly, it's shite. Also splashed out on Chantecaille Future Skin which I've always wanted to try. Not a patch on hydraluminous

Pob13 · 07/03/2022 20:45

Has anyone ever been to a beauty counter and had them find the right shade, etc? Do they actually know what they are doing?

Time40 · 07/03/2022 21:15

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse.

But it sounds as if your skin could be dry, OP. You possibly need a better moisturiser. Clarins Beauty Flash is brilliant for wearing under foundation; it makes it look better and last longer. Sadly, it is expensive.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 07/03/2022 21:18

No 7 hydraluminous isn’t a good coverage. It’s also really greasy. I have dry skin and it’s greasy feeling. I don’t get the love. Maybe I’m applying it incorrectly.

Sapphireskies · 07/03/2022 21:36

Estée Lauder double wear, and primark do a good dupe of it.

CoreyTaylorisHot · 07/03/2022 21:40

@ENoeuf I wear that most days! Love it! If I'm going 'out out' I wear body shop foundation ☺️

Hailsafe · 07/03/2022 21:53

@HeadingForHome

Does the No.7 stay put though? I’ve found the only foundation that doesn’t come off on clothing/masks etc is Estee Lauder Double wear.

Hailsafe · 07/03/2022 21:53

Never in my life. Almost always too dark.
ENoeuf · 07/03/2022 21:59

@CoreyTaylorisHot it’s the only time I get complimented by strangers. So weird.

ohthejoysoftoddler · 07/03/2022 22:12

Armani luminous silk and chantacaille future skin are my faves. And I've bought a lot of different foundations on my search

Delatron · 07/03/2022 22:23

Armani luminous silk is my all time favourite. I wouldn’t buy any other foundation.

Though I find as I’m older I just wear a nice primer now such as the Laura Mercier radiance one.

Jamboree01 · 07/03/2022 22:24

There is a lighter version of EL double wear which is nice but hard to get hold of. Or you can mix a little bit of moisturiser with the original (as advised by the lady at the counter).

My advice is to avoid Tilbury! Biggest letdown yet for me
