Longchamp Le Pliage

Thinking of getting a large Le Pliage but it's £££ for a nylon bag, so am wondering:

  • would it fit my laptop/small water bottle/notepad in for work?
-is it big enough to use as a weekend (or at least overnight) bag? -is it too big to also take out with just a few bits in for the kids? Would still want to take a separate small handbag for my stuff.

If it isn't suitable for all three, I don't think it will work, sadly. So would be grateful on thoughts...

I love mine. I wouldn’t think it was suitable for an overnight bag though, but maybe I take too much stuff!

Brand Alley have them on sale today, much cheaper than the normal prices.

DSGR · 04/03/2022 22:27

I have two and adore them, they last years. It will fit number 1 and 3 on your list hit you might struggle to fit everything in it for a night away unless you pack really lightly. I have the Le Pliage expandable travel bag for that.. still going strong after many years.
I think they’re great and worth the money

Grasping · 04/03/2022 22:28

It’s my Mary Poppins bag
I use mine daily and carry all my shit in there.

Overnight is questionable. Depends

As PP have said, I get my laptop, water bottle and all the other rubbish I need for a day in the office easily in it. Would not use it for a weekend bag though, would not be enough.

They are great quality though and last years, you can also pick them up cheaper at outlets if there is one near you.

BellatrixOnABadDay · 04/03/2022 22:32

Thank you all- hmm even if not big enough for an overnight bag I'm still tempted!

Is it robust enough for a laptop to go in it- i'd worry about it getting damaged?

My laptop is in a thin case, nothing special just the one it came with and I've never been worried about it.

I normally put everything in and then put my laptop in last along the side.

DSGR · 04/03/2022 22:39

Yes I’ve carried mine in a laptop many times

DSGR · 04/03/2022 22:39

I mean a laptop in it!

Grasping · 04/03/2022 22:43

You do know you can get them repaired don’t you?

Grasping · 04/03/2022 22:44

I have used mine as an overnight bag but only if I’m staying somewhere and coming straight home in the morning

bellsbuss · 04/03/2022 22:45

I love mine, I use it for days out , holidays etc.

BeaLola · 05/03/2022 01:02

I managed an overnight in London last weekend with mine - just. Took a good deal of planning.
BabarEnFamille · 05/03/2022 17:23

I was skeptical about how much I’d use it but bought a black Neo last year and use it for work, out with the kids and have used it for overnighters too - absolutely love it and feels so much smarter

AnnaDelvorkina · 05/03/2022 17:56

My sister and I both use them as overnight bags and have done for years.

Clymene · 05/03/2022 17:58

I use mine as an overnight bag.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 05/03/2022 22:27

I use mine as a work bag, very robust and hard wearing. I use a handbag liner for more structure and organisation. I've gone to other bags but keep going back to it. Mine is about 2 years old and no wear to it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/03/2022 22:31

Okay as an overnight bag for one night, providing you don't need to pack any shoes.

Yes to laptop and water bottle for work.

Yes to some bits for kids.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 05/03/2022 22:33

There's a specific luggage pilage bag and two smaller ones. The bigger of the smaller ones would fit a smallish laptop. Measurements will be on their website presumably or John Lewis sell them.

popcorndiva · 05/03/2022 22:34

My large pliage I used as my hospital bag when I was having DD so definitely will fit a laptop

CecilyTheWake · 05/03/2022 22:42

Le Pliages are great, but it’s like a trendy nylon carrier bag. Everything will congregate in the bottom of it and you will never be able to find your keys.

I have two, but they are only usable as an everyday bag because I bought a felt divider which sits inside. They are otherwise usable as gym bags or small weekend bags where you don’t need to keep finding stuff.

The single inside pocket also doesn’t fit an iPhone.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/03/2022 22:56

Mine is the new camel one. It's got two inside bits, one of which fits a phone.

WhatsitWiggle · 05/03/2022 23:02

Definitely big enough for a work bag, but you will never manage to find the small things as they migrate to the bottom. I have a handbag liner for this reason. My laptop goes in a sleeve, and the phones also sit in this, for extra protection. At the end of the day, it's a large nylon bag - mine was a gift, and whilst I've tried and ditched lots of other bags, this one gets used regularly.

CointreauVersial · 05/03/2022 23:17

There are several different sizes. I have one handbag size (shoulder straps) and one overnight size (shorter straps). Great bags, classic and smart.

WhatsitWiggle · 05/03/2022 23:21

Oh, forgot to add - I take this on my days to London for work, carrying laptop, purse, 2 mobile phones, keys, business cards, lipstick, mints, pen, small note pad, metal water bottle and pair of heels/trainers and it's heavy but not full, there's space for more.
