Longchamp Le Pliage

BellatrixOnABadDay · 04/03/2022 22:24

Thinking of getting a large Le Pliage but it's £££ for a nylon bag, so am wondering:

  • would it fit my laptop/small water bottle/notepad in for work?
-is it big enough to use as a weekend (or at least overnight) bag? -is it too big to also take out with just a few bits in for the kids? Would still want to take a separate small handbag for my stuff.

If it isn't suitable for all three, I don't think it will work, sadly. So would be grateful on thoughts...

And, for those that have had theirs for a while and have holes in the corners of your bag. Take it to Longchamp store, and they send it away to Paris for it to be sewn up and repaired. Free. Does take a few weeks for it come back. I had one for about 10 years until i retired it. Great workhorse bag, shopping trips, work, gym etc

I have one that I bought years ago and use (used!) it as hand luggage when flying. It still looks as good as it did when I bought it. DD has a little blue one that my mum gave her.

Thank you all- I'm going to wait for new credit card month and then order one!

I have a sick elderly DM
My pliage is ready packed with stuff so I can go to her quickly. Cashmere socks, sunglasses, hand gel, hand cream, hairbrush, phone charger, credit card, cash, folding umbrella, beanie hat, gloves, string bag, cereal bar, notepad, pen etc. I also keep my iPad and AirPods in there when I’m not using them.
In that way I can grab it and leave quickly if necessary.

LynetteScavo · 06/03/2022 08:15

I have several - if I'm going away overnight I take one full of overnight stuff, and another as my handbag.

I take one with me almost every time I leave the house.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/03/2022 08:19

I like to use a rucksack to go away for a few nights, but pack the Le Pliage so I've got a smart day bag big enough for map, kindle, guide book etc. I also made some little zipped pouches - one for handcream, sanitiser and lipbalm; one for phone charging thingie.

If I'm going shopping I like to use the Pliage plus a small crossbody with just phone and purse in.

BeaLola · 06/03/2022 10:02

Apart from the travel side one I bought mentioned upthread I have 2 rucksack ones (second as lovely colour in sale) and use them when out for the day - can fit phone, hand gel, hairbrush, purse, tickets, travel pass, make up, scarf, small water bottle and odds and ends - I usually end up with it on one shoulder rather than across back - very useful

I live nowhere near a store - is it possible to send them away yourself?
LynetteScavo · 06/03/2022 13:18

The single inside pocket also doesn’t fit an iPhone.

My newest one has two pockets, and the largest pocket fits an iPhone.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 06/03/2022 13:29

I have four - three long handled ones used for work, overnighters, beach etc and a large top handled one for weekends etc.
I think they are just the best all rounder ever.
Did not know about the repairs of the little holes in my oldest one. Will need to investigate that

RandomQuest · 06/03/2022 13:36

They work for everything! Laptop bag for work, diaper bag for the baby, carry on for the plane… It gets x10 more use than any other bag I own. They’ll do for one overnight like if you’re crashing at a friends and you arrive ready so you just need a wash bag and throw on clothes for the next morning but not a whole weekend.

justaweeone · 06/03/2022 14:52

I've got this one as an overnight/weekend bag
Love it

I have a couple (in different colours). I love them. I can fit loads in.
Would definitely fit in a laptop and everything I need on a daily basis.

I also have a weekend size one. It's lovely with an extendable zip bottom and a sturdy across the body strap.
I use it as a weekend away bag and also as hand luggage on long haul flights

That's the one I bought in Purpke Color just after Christmas - can't wait to go away to use it

Have never heard of Brand Alley - are they ok to buy from ?

DanceForMeColin · 06/03/2022 19:45

@BeaLola I’ve bought from them before (they just take end of line stuff I think). They can have a long delivery time but I’ve never not received the item and they have been as described.

countdowntonap · 06/03/2022 19:57

Yes I’ve brought from BrandAlley. I just got caught out once when I ordered something in December that wasn’t delivered until March. My fault, as when I went back to look it did say it wouldn’t be available until March but I’ve never seen that online before so didn’t think to check. Companies let BrandAlley know what stock they’ll be making available to them to sell off and sometimes you can order it months in advance.

popcorndiva · 09/03/2022 09:50

I bought both my pliages from Brandalley. I get a lot from there, mostly kids clothes and wooden toys.

sleepyhoglet · 09/03/2022 15:57

Stylish - love mine

TizerorFizz · 09/03/2022 16:16

I have the XL travel bag. There is also one with a shoulder strap which is a weekend bag too. Slightly more upright. I use them all the time and for my hand luggage too!

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 09/03/2022 17:08

Was thinking last night I could do with a couple of new ones in bright colours for summer. The Brand Alley sale had exactly what I needed - thankfully I saw this post before I went on to the Longchamps website! Thanks colin

amarante · 09/03/2022 20:20

Which liners have you bought? Thank you

NeedWineNow · 09/03/2022 20:21

I can't rate them highly enough. I've got two large ones with long handles and two of the smaller ones again with long handles. I use them regularly for shopping, work ( I put my laptop in) and travel. I find them real workhorse bags. Fabulous

NeedWineNow · 09/03/2022 20:22

Ooh forgot I've got the travel bag with the long strap as well😃
