Cotton knickers with wide gussets in multipacks

Not a troll, honest. Just a peri-menopausal woman who uses sanitary pads and pantyliners, and can no longer find comfy inexpensive cotton knickers with wide gussets. Used to buy M and S or Sainsbury's multipacks; now find their gussets are shrinking. Hard to make out gusset size on websites. Any reccos?

These are lovely from H&M

twilightcafe · 23/02/2022 20:38

Are the Wirapa pants true to size?

averylongtimeago · 23/02/2022 20:43

It's not just the width of gusset, it's the length as well Angry.
Most dissatisfied with the last lot from Morrisons.

OrlaPeely · 23/02/2022 20:46

@hugoagogo do the h&m ones feel like cotton or feel synthetic? All over, not just the gusset! Thanks

CarrotCakeMuffins · 23/02/2022 20:47

I switched to John Lewis after finding tiny gussets in M&S pants. They are much better and no problems. Was very annoying. Why have they done this?

2020isnotbehaving · 23/02/2022 20:48

This drives me up the wall as well, it’s just mean and stingy. No woman has ever said oh my this gusset is to big! I don’t like that gapping feeling when you bend down, reverse wedgie indeed.

Maria1982 · 23/02/2022 20:49

Debenhams - still selling what’s left of their old stock online (I may have brought many multipacks when I heard they were going bust …). If you can find your size, for me they are the new M&S of cotton knicker multipacks

Thisismynewname123 · 23/02/2022 21:00

Not multipacks, but I always get Gap cotton knickers, when they have their 30% off promos (often). Good gusset size. I can't wear m&s knickers for the same reason

GettingStuffed · 23/02/2022 21:10

There was a thread on transfer stating the opposite.

hugoagogo · 23/02/2022 21:47

They feel mostly like what they are, mostly cotton.
Very secure and comfy.

Asda used to sell some really good quality cotton ones, they aren't so good now but are still OK.

Morrisons are awful. Narrow gussets and the back is lower than the front so your belly is nicely covered but they slide off your arse.

Tesco - poor quality and the joins in the elastic on the legs came apart, cotton fabric twisted in the wash so they went wonky.

The ones with the lace tops, any make (I think they are all the same but with different labels in) slid down on me and rolled over themselves, I found they slipped down inside my jeans. This includes John Lewis.

Have been looking at Wirapa for a while and finally ordered some.

A lot of the ones that call themselves full briefs are not waist high, which is belly button height, they often come to just above the hip bone which has become the new waist, probably also to save on fabric.

@twilightcafe

Are the Wirapa pants true to size?
Yes. Maybe slightly small. I'm a 10/12 and bought medium

@twilightcafe Are the Wirapa pants true to size?

I read the reviews and questions and people said they are true to size. I have received my order and the L is considerably bigger than the supermarket 14, I believe it is 14 - 16. I have only looked at one pair from the pack so far and measured against my usual ones.

Apparently some of them are intended to hold you in a bit. I think I need to size down a bit as they are more 16 then 14.

September29th · 24/02/2022 17:12

than 14

Maybe different styles vary ? I have the L and I am a generous size 12 at the moment. (12 in M&S) . They aren’t overly big, but the M would probably be ok too.

I agree - I want a longer gusset - anyone know of any suggestions - don't want it wide, just long!
September29th · 25/02/2022 20:26

Update on the Wirapa size L. Laid on top of my Asda ones the waist was bigger, so I was expecting them to be roomy.

They were not roomy at all and felt like a girdle. Weird. The fabric seems substantial and they are also fairly tight around the leg holes, as the fabric is thickish this feels less comfortable, and put me in mind of the old navy school knickers from years gone by. If you have slim thighs or a thigh gap they would probably fit better but I was quite put out as I have lost weight and all my not-so-old 'old' ones are loose around the leg, hence looking for new ones.

Maybe my weightloss means I need a larger size, hmmm.

The Wirapa I just bought have approx. long 4" gusset. I have seen previous posts on here where a longer gusset style was mentioned but may have been deleted by now. Not sure if search is working well at the moment but maybe worth a try.

Bluebell79 · 05/03/2022 14:49

Thanks to whoever suggested the Wirapa knickers from Amazon, love them got a large, am a size 14/16, nice thick cotton material, gusset wide enough for a pad, edges/seams are soft no annoying rough elastic on the legs. Off to order more and will get my teen some too as she was complaining pads not fitting well in her normal knickers.

doghuggin · 20/12/2024 17:49

Another vote for John Lewis. Was always a loyal M&S knicker-wearer but switched to sensible John Lewis knicks a few years ago and love them ❤️

Evan456 · 20/12/2024 19:14

bonmarche excellent knickers

Ukrainebaby23 · 21/12/2024 12:35

I thinks it's down to money. But I highly recommend period pants for lighter days ir trickly bladders. Worth investing.
