What's your thoughts

Headache & allergy inducing.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 19/02/2022 10:36

Revolting over scented, over coloured messy tat. I can’t step foot in a lush store because of the over powering smell, but I wouldn’t buy it anyway because of Lush’s views on women and safeguarding children.

jeaux90 · 19/02/2022 10:38

I don't buy from them since they started encouraging chest binding.

bonfireheart · 19/02/2022 10:38

Their coconut shampoo bar is good. But their anti-police and anti-women nonsense annoys me too much.

Youngatheart00 · 19/02/2022 10:39

I quite like their products but I don’t buy regularly and I find their staff quite forceful

Peachtoiletpaper · 19/02/2022 10:43

I don't agree with some of their politics, the excessive use of colourings and glitter (happy to be told the glitter now is biodegradable). Some of their non-novelty stuff is really quite good though, American cream conditioner is the best I've used at any price point also ultra bland cleanser and some of the hair masks. Not been there in a while though, I have parosmia and can't handle the smell.

YouSetTheTone · 19/02/2022 10:52

Overscented and underwhelming.

Luckily I refuse to buy their products anyway given their stance on women’s rights and child safeguarding.

BreakingUpWithMyPhone · 19/02/2022 10:54

Some nice products, over-pushy staff, fundamentally disagree with their politics.

SedentaryCat · 19/02/2022 10:58

Expensive and over-scented. I started boycotting them when they ran the anti-police campaign and haven't been in there since. Their anti-women stance hasn't helped their cause either.

Also agree with PP about the forceful staff - they once used my 6 year old DD as a way of forcing making a sale. 'ooh look at all this glitter, isn't it lovely', etc, etc.

ChurchlightJane · 19/02/2022 11:01

I used to buy such a lot of my regular skin and hair care from Lush and have worn their perfumes for years. I would also add something from Lush to all family birthdays and Christmas presents.

I will never shop there again though because of their police/women/safeguarding views and actions. I know someone who worked in there too and her experience of them as employers was not good.

I do miss Kerbside Violets, Twilight spray and Karma soap though. Bloody marvellous all of them.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/02/2022 11:33

Don't know, have to walk by the shop quickly and preferably on the other side of the road to avoid the stench. Plus their multiple deeply unethical behaviours would make me disinclined to try them anyway.

callingon · 19/02/2022 11:45

Still love the bath products! They seem to have slim lined their stock a lot though since lockdown - I’m sad about the bath melts. I know MM hates lush cos of the ‘anti police’ campaign, which was raising awareness of the scandal over undercover police marrying women etc. personally can’t get too bothered about that and seeing all the stuff that’s come out about the MET recently I’m surprised people still take such a hardline stance on it.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/02/2022 11:51

No, that's not what I object to. Hmm

BreakingUpWithMyPhone · 19/02/2022 12:05

I dislike Lush because of all of their politics that I'm aware of, I'm not just basing this on a single thing.

They were also scored relatively poorly re environmental aspects by Ethical consumer.

teawamutu · 19/02/2022 12:44

Used to adore them.

Now find them overpriced. And then there's the misogyny and child endangerment, so it's a no from me.

TheChosenTwo · 19/02/2022 13:16

I love the sleepy bubble bar and cream.
I’ve liked loads from there in the past but they are my current favourites.

Emo76 · 19/02/2022 13:28

I used to love a couple of their products, body scrub bar and a face mask, but they just won't let you browse in the shops so I avoid them now as I don't enjoy being interrupted every five seconds.

amylou8 · 19/02/2022 13:36

Some of their stuff is nice. I can't stand their bath bombs and highly scented products. Their staff scare me. I don't like their politics.

HermioneWeasley · 19/02/2022 13:41

Used to like their stuff, but I won’t spend money with organisations that hate women

Exactly.
Bellex · 19/02/2022 13:59

I briefly worked there and the pressure on staff to harass customers drove me crazy. Management screaming at you for not working hard enough because you weren’t ramming products down customers necks. Pressure to do ridiculous numbers of in store demos, management trying to force you to do massages on customers arm to sell the massage bars.

The management were also so bitchy and clicky. I worked at River Island Victoria secret as well and they both promoted better cultures

Fairislefandango · 19/02/2022 14:21

I like their products and used to buy them, but I don't any more because I'm disgusted by their politics and the way they force their staff to be appallingly pushy with customers. I also think they are overpriced.

wendywoopywoo222 · 19/02/2022 14:27

I like a lot of their products but love the rose jam shower gel.

DedalusBloom · 19/02/2022 15:46

I love Lord of Misrule shower stuff because I love Patchouli, but I don't buy from there any more because of some of their campaigns.

I'm old enough to remember when they started as Cosmetics To Go back in the 90s - you had to order from a brochure and it seemed so fun and different at the time. Although I did have to write to them and point out that Honey as an ingredient in their toothpaste was a fucking stupid idea...Hmm

FlossMoss · 19/02/2022 16:14

I don't like the way they are all over you if you go in. It's really patronising.

And the chest binder issue was outrageous.
