Dithering about a Dyson

The supersonic hairdryer.
Is it worth the money? I've got short hair and I can't decide if I'm being seduced by the hype. Also considering the GHD Helios which is half the price. Any opinions? Thanks.

I wasn't impressed with the Dyson after using it for a week. The buttons are on the outside making it hard to change settings and I hate the sound it makes. I love my Parlux ,I imagine the GHD is the same quality.

Seb342 · 13/02/2022 11:57

I've got a dyson and wouldn't be without it now. It cuts down my drying time by a lot and it's lighter and quieter than most hairdryers. I suppose it depends on how much you use it if you'd get your money's worth but for me personally I definitely have.

Couldn’t agree more. My hairs health has also improved since I ditched the ghd products and moved to dyson
MrsHippopotamus · 13/02/2022 12:04

I love mine. I do find it a bit noisier than my last hairdryer though (ghd aura) but it’s so much lighter.
I’ve had it a few months now and my hair condition has definitely improved and it dries a lot smoother.
Is it worth the price tag? Probably not tbh, but I’m still glad to have one.

Unmumsymofo · 13/02/2022 12:05

I wouldn’t buy any dyson product again unless I was comfortable openly supporting slavery!!

Did you type this on your iPhone while wearing clothes from primark?
OldSpeclkledHen · 13/02/2022 12:27

Love mine, best Xmas present from DM

Unmumsymofo · 13/02/2022 14:29

Nope, although I take your point none of us are beyond any reproach. Though I’m my case it’s not though a lack of willing. If I have brought any product associated with modern slavery it’s because I am unaware.

I find it boggling that people knowing companies are unethical, will still buy from them! And in the case of dyson the poverty argument doesn’t work like it does with primark…so what was your point?

Justkeeprollingalong · 13/02/2022 14:52

Thanks everyone. It seems that those of you who have one do like it. If I buy direct from Dyson for an extra 30 quid you get a 35 day free return policy if you don't like it. I might try that.

What poverty argument?
OP just wanted to know if the product was worth buying 🤷‍♀️

PuppyMonkey · 13/02/2022 15:00

I got mine from QVC, they often have deals on and I think you can usually try it for 60 days and return if you don't like - plus you can pay in interest free instalments so it's not quite so Shock pricewise.

I really like mine, I don't understand the pp who has difficulties with the buttons on the outside tbh. Confused

Ilikewinter · 13/02/2022 15:06

I had one and returned it. I've got fine shoulder length straight hair, I found it too powerfull and it just blew my hair into a knotted mess. If i used the attachments then it took far longer to dry my hair than using my old hairdryer.
Ultimately I decided the cost just wasn't worth it for me.
I was gutted though, i had the dark blue one and it was lovely!

FreyaGl · 13/02/2022 15:09

I have the hairdryer and straighteners. The dryer is definitely worth it but I do need to use it with an attachment or it just blows my hair all over the place.

NarcissistsEyebrows · 13/02/2022 15:15

I quite agree

And not on an iPhone as I don't own one. And haven't shopped in Primark for over 20 years.

Smug...maybe

James Dyson supporter? Never.

NarcissistsEyebrows · 13/02/2022 15:15

I was trying to quote in my above message, but failed.

Bit less smug now Wink

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/02/2022 18:13

I've got the supersonic and I love it. It's the only Dyson product I would replace - I had the straighteners and they were rubbish. The hairdryer is quieter than my old one and dries my hair a lot quicker.

Justkeeprollingalong · 13/02/2022 18:22

@PinkSparklyPussyCat another positive vote. Seems like I'm going to have to go for it 😊

Flambola · 13/02/2022 19:35

I love mine. I have long, thick curly hair and it’s cut my drying time down in half!

TrueBuys · 13/02/2022 19:51

I love mine OP. I got it from John Lewis who had a (slight) offer at the time I think. If it broke I'd replace with another the same.

Decaffe · 13/02/2022 20:25

Can anyone recommend a good stand for the hairdryer?

Ilovetheseboots · 13/02/2022 22:00

Sorry I have it and don’t rate it at all neither does my daughter, went back to my old hairdryer within 2 weeks, regret not sending back. Just didn’t find it blowed dried my hair any quicker or smoother found it made hair puffier, but there are so many positive reviews it must depend on your hair and what hairdryer you use previously. I do however love their straighteners. Definitely by direct or QVC so you can send back if need be, hopefully you won’t have to Smile

I've got the dyson stand. Definitely recommend as it keeps everything including the 3 main attachments in one place. I don't have any of the newer attachments though.
FawnFrenchieMum · 13/02/2022 22:17

Have you looked at the shark hairdryer? I love mine. They also have an offer on this weekend, get a £50 voucher to spend on shark or ninja in future.

Justkeeprollingalong · 13/02/2022 23:07

@FawnFrenchieMum that looks a possibility too 🤦🏻‍♀️
