Talk to me about long puffer coats

I need a new one and no idea where to start looking.

It needs to be knee length, decent quality, not black, chic, minimalist style. Not too shape-fitting (no belts) but not massively oversized either.

Give me your recommendations!

Lands End. Got a lovely navy one recently, super warm, stylish.

Movingonup22 · 12/02/2022 15:32

Uniglo

ritalinda · 12/02/2022 15:56

Thanks both. I should say I don't want an Uniqlo one. I like the shop but I want something more expensive and substantial.

Will look at lands end (even though it reminds me of my parents!).

Has anyone tried Rains?

I have this one and I absolutely LOVE it! Possibly a bit long for you, though, if you're set on knee length, but it does have a double zip so you don't get that 'legs tied together' shuffle effect going on. It's super warm, lightweight and not too puffy.

I had a great one from Ralph Lauren - so warm!

Fittleswade · 12/02/2022 20:54

Moncler. They can't be bettered.

asparalite · 12/02/2022 21:01

Puzzled why you think Uniqlo coats no good, I've two, really couldn't fault them, light feeling yet very warm, good quality, look fine!

Imabouttoexplode · 12/02/2022 21:01

So many to choose from, it's hard to know where to start. Love the Holland Cooper ones and Sweaty Betty.

Annoyingly I got one from Uniqlo last year that was 3/4 length and I love the long shawl collar ones from this year but can't justify buying another. It's the warmest coat I've ever had and was quite reasonable considering. I've got a Barbour one too but I don't like it as much. Don't discount Uniqlo!

nanbread · 12/02/2022 21:06

I would avoid khaki, everyone round here seems to have a long khaki puffer...

Arket has some nice ones and I recommend Cos too

That is lovely but what's with the braces 😀

Hb12 · 12/02/2022 21:09

I bought a lovely black knee length Lands End one from eBay for £20. It's toasty

ritalinda · 12/02/2022 21:11

Maybe I'll look again at Uniqlo. I don't want black or khaki, I'd quite like grey since most of my coats are navy!

Movingonup22 · 12/02/2022 21:16

Uniqlo sways impressed and its cheap!

goMe46 · 12/02/2022 23:41

Look in Charity shops in an affluent area..

There was a post on here before Christmas about long puffer coats (might be worth a search for ?)

I bought my DD a mid thigh length from Superdy (Fuji)
The long coat was really long (she's 5'7" and very slim)

No feather/down ( filling is recycled bottles ) very cosy
Subtle branding on the sleeve .
Zip pockets for phone / travel card

I did check that Superdry was a brand she'd wear ( she used to go for the huge logo tops years ago )

She has the black one but there's other colours

beguilingeyes · 13/02/2022 13:07

I bought this DKNY coat from TK Maxx recently and I really love it. It's smart, very warm and really vibrant colour. It also comes with a bag that it packs into.

I bought the Rains long puffer a few weeks ago - was Hmm at the price but I'm really pleased with it. It's verywarm but breathable so less sweaty than any other waterproof coat I've ever worn. The unisex sizing means they come up big.

Lunificent · 13/02/2022 19:00

Any that fit/look good on short people?

Latara · 13/02/2022 19:04

I've got a nice black one by Miss Pap worth £100 down to £25 in the Debenhams sale.

Deep pockets, warm furry lining, hood, very trendy, looks good with everything.
I'm a size 14/16 but only needed a size 12.

I'm 5'4" and I was worried that the coat would be too long but it's just above my knee.

Thoosa · 13/02/2022 19:06

Monsoon have some nice, pillowy-looking ones ATM. I can’t wear puffas anymore due to crutches and wheelchair, but I was tempted by these ones.
