Talk to me about long puffer coats

I need a new one and no idea where to start looking.

It needs to be knee length, decent quality, not black, chic, minimalist style. Not too shape-fitting (no belts) but not massively oversized either.

Give me your recommendations!

[quote toastfiend]I have this one and I absolutely LOVE it! Possibly a bit long for you, though, if you're set on knee length, but it does have a double zip so you don't get that 'legs tied together' shuffle effect going on. It's super warm, lightweight and not too puffy.

Got this from warehouse and I love it although I just saw you have a few navy already.

Thanks all. Some great suggestions

I love the cos one but am concerned by the down if the outside isn't properly waterproof... I like rains but worries it will swamp me and i like te superdry but just can't get my head around wearing superdry as a 40 yo?!

@ritalinda if it helps at all, I know the Cos one can go in the washing machine so I think it would be OK if it got wet (I've worn mine on a wet day and it's kept me warm and dry, but I wouldn't wear it in a downpour!) Not trying to push you towards it, though!

I have the Superdry Everest long line coat and love it. I'm a bit younger than you, but definitely in the "sensible mum" phase of life, and the Superdry coat is very practical for windy school runs. It has the double zip too as PP mentioned, important to avoid the awkward shuffle! The branding is pretty subtle - the one I have has a badge in the same colour on the arm, so it's not too obvious where it's from. I also like that it's not an oversized fit, not snug but more slim fitting than the duvet coats, and it's a decent length on me (5'7")

I also really like the Cos one linked above and the Next Emma Willis ones, but feel like the very oversized duvet coat style might be a passing trend.

I have the Superdry one and I’m 40!

I adore it. I cannot recommend it enough. It’s so warm!

Mine doesn’t have the fur. I tried the Next one on and thought it was awful compared to this one. The Superdry coat also has the best pockets.

anothername007 · 17/02/2022 21:19

Make sure the zip opens up from the bottom once it's done up otherwise you walk funny uphill. Looooove minE from Zara.

Latara · 18/02/2022 13:15

My best mate is 46 she always wears Superdry.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 18/02/2022 15:52

I have the bright blue Julie from Didriksons. Was pricey but so warm and worth every penny.

ISmellBurnings · 18/02/2022 17:11

I didn’t think ‘young people’ wore Superdry anymore. So it’s fine at 40. 😂

De88 · 18/02/2022 17:12

Another vote for Superdry, I have the Everest one too and love it so much. I'm 5"1 so obvs a lot longer than it is on the model but looks fab!

😂 you're probably right there. I was thinking of my sister but I've just realised she's 35 and not in fact 19 like in my head 🤣

My DD is 19yo so I did ask her before I bought the coat , it's a nice , neat commuter coat for standing at the bus stop or tube platform.

DD won't wear down/feather ( ethics) and would sooner eat her own spleen that wear an M&S coat (because that;s what I wear and I'm painfully un-hip)

ISmellBurnings · 18/02/2022 22:33

You clearly need to join the Superdry club OP. Grin

This was the one I got for DD , £100 but I got a 15% off

cheekyasfish · 20/02/2022 08:47

Have a look on Next website

There are some great beige, khaki green ones

ritalinda · 21/02/2022 15:34

Update! I tried on the superdry studio puffer today but didn't like it! Too long for me and too puffy. Didn't like the awkward poppers to do up either. They didn't have the Everest (?) unfortunately today

I bought 2 from next last winter approx 60.Great coats and have worn well.

covetingthepreciousthings · 21/02/2022 16:29

If you want substantial and waterproof, I would go for a Didriksons.
