Can YOU smell Molecule 01?

Not everyone can smell it. Can YOU smell it? What do you think of it?

Yes! I love it. I've used up an entire bottle and I need to repurchase.

I can't smell it on my own skin but I can smell it on others and on my clothes. It's a peppery, woody, amazing scent. One of my very favourites.

I can smell it on other people and always think it smells the same, as in I know what they're wearing.
I smell it on me when I first put it on; I spray it on my tummy and the small of my back and love the first waft rising out from under my clothes. Then I stop being able to smell it on myself.
The same people at work always mention it, so I know it's noticeable, but not sure if they're the only ones able to smell it or the only ones in the habit of complementing me.
I can usually smell it on clothing if I put something on which has had a spritz during a previous wear.
I think much of the wooo surrounding this fragrance it emperor's new clothes, but it is one of my absolute favourites.

I can smell it on others (and can pick out iso-e super in other fragrances like D & G Light Blue) but when wearing it myself it seems to disappear then reappear.

I smelt it so strongly on a friend. Thought it was sandalwood.

Are Escentric 01 and Molecule 01 different? I was given the Escentric but it's just "meh".

I've had 2 bottles of 01 and had so many people asking what it is. I can't smell it! However I can smell 03.

I can’t smell 01 and no one has ever said anything about it, but when I wear 02 I literally have people lingering near me trying to get a whiff!! It’s powerful stuff but just in a very clean sort of way, almost where you are not wearing scent, you are just clean and fresh.

It's definitely not, but it's true not everyone can smell it initially, and can have periods of nose blindness to it.

Are Escentric 01 and Molecule 01 different? I was given the Escentric but it's just "meh".

Yes, the Escentric is different. It's blended with different notes. Molecule is the Iso E Super alone.

Yes, it’s the perfume that gives me the most comps from strangers

This reminds me of the "Hungry Heart" episode of Frasier, where Roz invests in a new pheromone-based perfume called Mantastic, that has no discernible smell.

It definitely is mostly marketing.

I mean, yes, this particular brand is based on selling a single chemical note as a perfume (not just this particular one, iso-e super, but also the other ‘molecules’ in the line - Ambroxan and I think cashmeran?)…so from that perspective it is ‘marketing’.

But it’s not an emperor’s new clothes thing. ISO-e super is genuinely a note some people are anosmic to. Similar to musk.

I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve seen the evidence, I was chased around a supermarket and a museum by someone desperate to know what it was, so many other comments too. I’m actually quite amazed at the reaction it always gets.

Just smells like alcohol, maybe vodka! I'm not impressed with it.

I've never heard of this but I wonder if it would work for me. I hate perfume, I can't wear it as it gives me a headache so a perfume that I can't really smell sounds great! However, I have a hyper sense of smell (annoys DH a LOT) so I would probably be able to smell it. It may not give me a headache though...

i can't smell it on myself but my good friend wears it & it smells absolutely INCREDIBLE on her.

My colleague is the same, and she actually asked what I was wearing as it smelled nice and wasn't giving her a headache!

Yes I love it and get compliments so other people must be able to smell it too. Can’t smell asparagus wee though, I’ve always found that mystifying!

I can smell it on myself but not strongly and maybe more on some days than others. Sometimes it just smells like alcohol too. My friend though, absolutely loved it on me. It’s strange!

@pawpaws2022 that's encouraging, I may give it a try. Do I need the real thing or will the ebay dupe work? I've seen concentrate and eau de parfume, I wonder if the concentrate is better for me, mixed with a carrier oil.
