Do any of you recommend it? If not is there another similar company you prefer? Do you tend to keep at least one thing from every box?

I'm just about to return to work after maternity leave and looking to refresh my wardrobe. With the change to hybrid working and the office becoming more relaxed over the past few years, I don't actually need much formal work wear but I would like some smarter casual outfits that I can wear to the office and also at the weekend.

I have had a few boxes and usually keep a couple of things. I have kept a real mix of trousers, tops, one jumper, some smart and some casual.

I absolutely hate shopping but need office smart/casual as well as weekend wear and I am really enjoying getting a couple of new bits every month. It works for me!

everycowandagain · 10/02/2022 17:30

Should also say, most of mine have been items I can wear to the office or at the weekend. And as someone who is clueless about fashion I really like the cards you get for every item with 2 suggested outfit ideas.

RomainingCalm · 10/02/2022 17:38

I've had a couple of boxes. The first one I kept everything (the discount made it worthwhile) and the second I kept a couple of items. I was planning to have another for some new spring/summer clothes.

Worth a try imo. Try to be as detailed as you can about what you are looking for, colours, shapes, styles. I had the best results when I was specific about an occasion rather than just 'weekend casual'. And be honest about your sizes on your profile!

MrBoldwood · 10/02/2022 19:22

I’m a massive fan as it is a great way to add to my wardrobe - absolutely love it.

furmoo · 10/02/2022 19:25

Ooh, this is all really helpful, thank you!out of interest, how often do you get the boxes?

OP posts:
devildeepbluesea · 10/02/2022 19:29

First couple of boxes were great but it very quickly went downhill. All I got after 3 or 4 was loads of frumpy, acrylic monstrosities.

No, would not recommend.

MrsTophamHat · 10/02/2022 19:42

It can be alright but you've got to be quite firm about what you want.

Last time I did it I wrote in the box that I wanted jeans, only jeans, in a range of styles and washes to try something new. When i got the preview email, they were seding me tops, dresses, shoes... you name it. I replied saying that it didn't reflect my request at all and when the box arrived, it did contain 6 pairs of jeans.

lookinggood · 10/02/2022 19:43

They see desperate to give you clothes by mauvette - whoever the h£ll that is!

HelloCanYouHearMe · 11/02/2022 07:07

I had my first box last week. Colour wise it was a bit drab and some sizes were off but there were some nice things in there. I kept one item amd sent the rest back with a lot of feedback.

Ive tried Thread too, where your online shop is personalised based on size, style, colouring etc, so more choice here. I quite liked this approach and bought a few things

If anyone wants to try, some codes:

Pootles34 · 11/02/2022 07:11

I've had 5 fixes now, three brilliant two awful! I think it largely depends on the stock they have in, tbh.

Any current stitch fix customer can give you a code where you both get £15off, so do let ask for a code if you want one!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 11/02/2022 13:45

There are quite a few threads on here where people have shown the stuff they got, I find its either all great or all terrible. Similar to PP I asked for jeans and only got sent one pair that was 3 times the budget I set, I really don't know what they were thinking and tbh its put me off getting any more.

easterdaffsx · 11/02/2022 14:13

I've just had my first delivery .
I thought there would be more than five items but apart from that I'm keeping 2 lovely dresses so quite please really.

clary · 11/02/2022 14:21

I am not amazed tbh. I have had two boxes, keep two tops from the first box, and just a skirt from the second - and that was mainly BC it was worth it with the £10 off.

The quality is not great IMO. My second box did have a gorgeous Whistles blazer, but when I searched online, I was able to buy it from Whistles postage free with a 20% discount so I did that.

I want smartish work clothes but they often don't fit. I am a size 14 (put on weight hence other stuff dies not fit) but the clothes are often too big or too small. I'd love a jumpsuit as I tried one on which looked great (but the neckline was too plunging) but the two they have sent me have been awful.

Repetitivebeats · 11/02/2022 14:32

I've had one box and wasn't that impressed. I wanted to use it as a way to try things that I wouldn't normally pick out, as I tend to fall into a rut and wear the same style/colours all the time but ironically the only top I kept was very, very "me"
The main reason for not keeping the other bits was price, tbh. There was a nice skirt but it was just thin, unlined polyester and they wanted £35 for it! It's the kind of thing you could pick up in Primark for £10-£15. There was also a gorgeous, animal print sweatshirt with balloon sleeves but that was £75

I was supposed to get a box in Jan but I delayed it. I might try one more but the problem is that once I've spent the £10 I feel compelled to keep at least one item..total sunk cost fallacy situation!

GettingStuffed · 11/02/2022 21:03

I use thread too, they suggest outfits based on your criteria and if you buy through them they get a kickback.

Bananasareyellow · 11/02/2022 21:11

I also had one great box with just what I wanted and then one that was okayish but some of the stuff a bit cheap and synthetic and yes there was quite a bit of Mauvette! I like the concept though, especially post lockdown when I'd drifted into leggings and hoodies every day. Might take a look at Thread.

mynameisnotkate · 11/02/2022 21:17

I’ve had some success with it, but I’ve also kept a few things which I’ve liked but never would have picked out myself, and after a few months when I find them unworn at the back of the cupboard I realise there’s a reason I would have bought them! About half the things I’ve kept I’ve really liked, and the other half I probably shouldn’t have kept. I’m too good at persuading myself I like things!

Annoyedandirritated · 11/02/2022 21:21

I use them plus Lookerio!

Both send a lot of crap I find, but also the odd really nice item. Pretty shit quality a lot of times, but I don’t have time to go shopping and I like getting surprises and playing the game on the app, so it works for me 🤣

SkippettyDoDah · 11/02/2022 21:39

I got a few boxes. A couple were quite decent and it's great you can specify materials so I didn't get any polyester or acrylic crap. But then I got two or three boxes that were hideous and like a teen idea of what an ancient 40-year old should wear.

FennecShandDoesEverything · 11/02/2022 21:44

It's poor and very limited in terms of brands and styles.

If you've completely lost your way fashionwise and/or need to start again from scratch, it can be a good way to try new things and get a feel for what suits you, but it very quickly gets cheap, generic and samey.

tobee · 12/02/2022 04:00

Mauvette is Sitch Fix’s brand I believe. Their jeans that they sent me were excellent.

Oh thanks for the tip. I have signed up via your link.

MaryBeardsShoes · 12/02/2022 07:37

I have had a few boxes and some of my now favourite clothes have come from their. The mauvette jeans have been excellent. And like a PP said, I've had some lovely, flattering stuff that I'd never have picked out myself. Some duds as well of course!

carrotstix · 12/02/2022 09:36

So I've ordered my first box. Had my preview come through last night and everything was consistent with the info I'd put in my profile but I cant say I really liked much of it. I chose two items anyway and then the rest will be a surprise now, so we'll see!

Amelanchier · 12/02/2022 09:41

I tried a box and despite being short and dumpy not only did all 5 items fit (much better than when I order for myself online, 2 pairs of trousers!) but also I liked them enough to keep them all. I wont be subscribing because I don't need a lot more right now but I would use them again. Several items were 'Editor's choice' which I presume is own brand. I could probably get cheaper shopping myself but they saved me time and energy. Could have been more adventurous maybe, no item was utterly fabulous, but all useful and would work with my current wardrobe and needs. Here's a discount
