Do any of you recommend it? If not is there another similar company you prefer? Do you tend to keep at least one thing from every box?

I'm just about to return to work after maternity leave and looking to refresh my wardrobe. With the change to hybrid working and the office becoming more relaxed over the past few years, I don't actually need much formal work wear but I would like some smarter casual outfits that I can wear to the office and also at the weekend.

Agree re the jeans- I have two pairs - love them!

Nishkin · 12/02/2022 09:45

Also I have two items- a dress and a top which I would not have looked at twice in the shop which I absolutely love.

SilverOtter · 12/02/2022 09:59

I've had 5 boxes so far and have kept items from all of them. The last box I kept everything.

Some things have been hit and miss (I don't like their own brand jeans as they haven't washed very well for me, the materials gone all weird and saggyConfused). I've had some lovely things though. On the whole, I love stitch fix. I had to defer my January box because I'm currently skint, but can't wait for it to come in March!

If anyone wants to try stitch fix, this code gives us both £15 offSmile

My second box arrived yesterday - first box I kept everything & keeping everything from this one too. I only selected a couple of things from the preview & then put comments what I really wanted - said I'd like culottes but I reiterated my height to make sure they didn't swamp me - the style notes that came with yesterday's box was great for suggestions to dress them down or up, and where I'd rejected a leather jacket in the preview (only cos it was pricey) but said I'd like it later in the year the stylist referenced that and said she'd put it in a later box. I did ask to keep the same stylist. It's an easy way for me to shop and I get things I wouldn't normally pick

I had great success with my first two boxes. My favourite pair of jeans are from my furst ‘fix’. I never would’ve looked at Mango for jeans, but I’ve discovered through Stitchfix that their slim jeans are perfectly cut for my figure and height. Also had some lovely knitwear from brands I’d never heard of.

But after that, despite my detailed feedback, I had 3 really shite fixes with ill fitting, boring choices and gave up.

Shame, as I was really excited about it at first.

SilverOtter · 12/02/2022 12:59

These were both from my last box and I love them both but particularly the pink skirt, which is by Sugarhill Brighton. It's not something I would've picked out and was a brand unknown to me before, but I've worn it loads.

The green dress is by Whistles and very flattering too.

Do you pay for the items when they are dispatched to you and then get a refund on any returns? Can I ask what the general value of a box is?

My first box was £170ish and this one just over £200 - they tell you you get 7 days to decide & then return/ checkout and pay, but you can move the date by a few days if you need to
Cleopatra2022 · 12/02/2022 22:13

I got my first box today and was a bit underwhelmed. £85 jeans that were exactly the same as £30 H&M ones. A see through viscose blouse also for £85! I kept a cotton Breton but only so I felt like I didn’t lose the £10. I could get similar in H&M for less.
I also found they didn’t keep to any of my requests about not liking short tops and wanting things a bit different. It was all very boring.

BrianWankum · 13/02/2022 10:34

I had a few boxes - the first ones felt like they were actually aimed at me and I kept one or two things from each, but then it deteriorated - I got a box with tops which were sizes 8 and 16 (I'm a 12), and the selections seemed to be just whatever they had, rather than aimed at me. I would leave feedback and comment on the preview, write messages etc. After a couple of these I wrote to them that I thought the last boxes had been poor quality and very boring clothes, that they were all under the budget I'd set, and that I was happy to spend up to that budget for good quality interesting items. And then the next box I got was just full of crap, so I cancelled.

Thread is nice to look through, and I have bought a couple of things, but again I feel it is more "what they're trying to get rid of" rather than what would work for you (beyond very generic categories of work/casual/etc).

SilverOtter · 07/03/2022 12:16

I just got my sixth box this morning, and I'm really disappointed! Had been looking forward to it as well😔

The wide leg black trousers were appalling quality. Nasty cheap, synthetic fabric with a hideous elasticated waist. Might have paid £9 for them if I was desperate, but £90?!?!

The red sweater was actually really nice, but when I put it on it just didn't look as good on me as I'd anticipated.

The cream sweater was ok, but a ridiculous price for what it was, and cream is not a very practical colour for me😂

The long skirt I kept is very pretty and comfy, and goes nicely with some other things in my wardrobe.

The necklace is pretty too and I needed some new jewellery.

I'm really hoping the next box will be back up to the standard I'm used to. If anyone feels like giving Stitch Fix a go, this link gives us both £15 off https://www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/x277dzhwyh?sod=m&som=c

I've had 3 fixes, first 2 boxes I took all items, the last box I took 2 items. I like it because it makes me try things I would normally breeze past and not consider, and have had a few successes.
I think some items are over priced, but ultimately worth it as have saved me the time of trying to find something myself.
I find the sizing pretty accurate.
I have rejected items in the preview, and then when i get the box and check out online to see what is in the box before opening it, I see items and think 'oh no' but then am pleasantly surprised when i see the item in the flesh.
I am very clear on not wanting jewellry, shoes, coats or jeans in the fix and the resulting boxes have reflected that.
It's a bit of a fun for 10 quid, and a result if I decide to keep any items.

Wnkingawalrus · 07/03/2022 14:56

The first few boxes I kept most things but didn’t keep anything from the last couple and haven’t had a new box for about 4 or 5 months now.

I’ve found a lot of the quality to be pretty questionable. Lots of small holes/tears in seems appearing now and nothing is more than a year old.

Also be careful that any branded stuff isn’t available cheaper elsewhere. I always check if I get something like Whistles or Hobbs and the items are often available on sale elsewhere. Felt pretty ripped off when this happened to be honest.

CatchingStars · 10/04/2022 08:40

@clary

I am not amazed tbh. I have had two boxes, keep two tops from the first box, and just a skirt from the second - and that was mainly BC it was worth it with the £10 off.

The quality is not great IMO. My second box did have a gorgeous Whistles blazer, but when I searched online, I was able to buy it from Whistles postage free with a 20% discount so I did that.

I want smartish work clothes but they often don't fit. I am a size 14 (put on weight hence other stuff dies not fit) but the clothes are often too big or too small. I'd love a jumpsuit as I tried one on which looked great (but the neckline was too plunging) but the two they have sent me have been awful.

Have you specified jumpsuits with rounded necklines? I'm very specific about things like that and so far they've taken that on board.
toomanytwinkies · 10/04/2022 08:47

I only used to get their in house brands like Mauvette, I think once I got a shirt from Thought which was lovely and a blazer from Warehouse but apart from that, all mauvette - and although the jeans were nice a lot of the styles and patterns of the Mauvette clothes are just a bit off. Something on it would make it look about 40 years too old for me.

I dropped my age on my profile by 10 years and it helped a little but not enough to stay.

lomoloko · 10/04/2022 08:53

I tried Lookiero. I specifically explained my measurements, my career and current dating situation (I've got a senior role in tech and go straight from work to nice restaurants a lot) and also that I felt skinnies and a biker jacket was a dated look and didn't want those. They sent me:

skinny jeans, two types
tacky"biker" slogan t shirt
a gigantic Oxford collar shirt, I could have housed a family of four in it
a plus size cardigan

...I sent them back.
