Running- Are sweaty Betty leggings worth the ££

Just that really. And so they have a drawstring waist? So they stay up? Are they comfy? I’d get plenty of wear out of the right pair of leggings but don’t want to waste £80 if they’re not quite right.

I would say they are worth the money. I have a few pairs, they are flattering and stay up well. They don't have a drawstring as such but one of those sort of inside elastics that you can pull in. They also have great pockets!

gunnersgold · 09/02/2022 20:28

Yes! I wish I'd have paid the money years ago! I wore mine all day today and they didn't move all day! So comfy and thick enough to not show any lumps ! Wait for the discount codes though

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 09/02/2022 20:29

Wait for the sale if you can OP but yes, definitely worth it, love mine. I've a few very bright pairs and they cheer me up on a drizzly grey day run Grin

Babysunshine2020 · 09/02/2022 20:30

I have a few pairs and they are amazing. I also run and they stay in place perfectly compared to others. Just check the reviews on their website before ordering and be mindful that their sizing is a bit different. My normal size is S but for this leggings it’s XS

That's true I also often end up keeping mine on for the day (not advised with the compression ones though). Also great to wear for a decent hilly walk too.

I love SB but I can't get on with their leggings. They don't seem to fit me right and the material doesn't have much comfort or give in it for me. Some of their shiny running technical ones are very supportive but give me rashes as they rub terribly as they are tight in some places and baggy in others.

For running I love a LuLuLemon legging especially with the deep outside pockets in the thigh. Fab to keep your phone safe but with quick access, keys, credit card and all the other detritus I take with me (dog treats!) and pick up (I run on a beach so often pick up bits of washed up garbage). Fabric is supportive but comfy.

Straight to LL for me and were great in a Half marathon

christinarossetti19 · 09/02/2022 20:33

I think with running leggings, the expression 'buy cheap, pay twice' is true.

I've only got cheapo capri things - Sports Direct type things. The zips on the pockets break very quickly and the full length ones ride down quickly.

I usually wear shorts, so not a big deal, but if you're mainly going to wear leggings, then get the best that you can afford.

Mummsnett · 09/02/2022 20:34

I'm wearing mine right now, and although I like them, I love my Nike versions more and they were less than half the price. There's nothing unique that you can't get elsewhere. Buy a pair to try them, but definitely in the sale or on vinted. They're good quality and will last, but like I say, other brands do too, and for much less.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 09/02/2022 20:38

I love SB power leggings, but I found when I tried them for running and put my phone in the side pocket, they did slip down annoyingly, so haven't tried them again. I have a pair of the thermal power leggings, which have a pocket large enough for a phone at the back, and they have been great for running during the cold weather though.

randomsabreuse · 09/02/2022 20:45

SB powers are great. The standard powers have a drawstring, the high rise ones don't. If you're not that fussy on prints get them in the sale, mine were about £45 or 50 which is a bit more palatable price wise than £80. I got my high rise for around £40 but stretched to £55 for my normal ones because I really liked the design (dark red fern) so the extra £10 seemed worth it.

If you have chunky thighs they're absolutely the best leggings ever - so much more durable than any others I've tried - no idea how they make the inseam so durable - I've been wearing mine 3+ times a week for best part of a year (they dry nice and quick) and still not shredded, outliving many other running leggings at a variety of price points.

The Zero Gravity are much lighter, good for warmer weather runs if you don't feel like braving shorts but very much not squat proof and I'd not want to risk them on trail runs with spiky branches and fence crossings...

evilharpy · 09/02/2022 20:54

I have a couple of pairs of these ones and they are super comfortable and don't budge but I do think they show up the lumps and bumps!

PARunnerGirl · 09/02/2022 20:56

I think you’ll get mixed responses because I guess it depends on your shape and how they fit you. I don’t like their leggings. They definitely slip down on me because they aren’t shaped to come in as much as I need at the waist. They are also so see through when you bend over after a wash or two! 🙈

Nike and Lulu Lemon get too marks from me, but not SB unfortunately Sad

PARunnerGirl · 09/02/2022 20:58

It’s the Zero Gravity I’ve got by the way! I see from others posters that there might be better choices from SB. Might chance it!

AuntieStella · 09/02/2022 21:00

No. The build quality is simiiar to brands that are half the price.

Decathlon are unbeatable VFM, with different weight fabrics by season, different lengths, plenty of pockets and drawstrings.

My favourite brand is 2XU which is £££ but is performance compression gear.

I've got Nike on that the moment - they're fine, and I've recently had my first ones from New Balance and was really impressed with them

MintyIguana · 09/02/2022 21:03

I've been massively disappointed by sweaty Betty stuff. I it's really overpriced

DukeofEarlGrey · 09/02/2022 21:07

I love mine but am a big SB fan so to be fair haven't tried many others. But I like them for the fit, they are super comfortable and last ages. I also find the power leggings lovely and warm for Park Run. I am hourglass and the drawstring is great - they don't fall down like other bottoms do.

flossletsfloss · 09/02/2022 21:08

I love my SB leggings and I'm a very regular runner. I also think decathlon ones are good but not as comfy, attractive or thick enough. SB all the way for me.

Dailywalk · 09/02/2022 21:09

Thanks for all the responses. Annoyingly I’ve just measured myself and I’m between sizes on their site so I might just buy a pair and try for size.

Rainydays200 · 09/02/2022 21:42

I’ve found the power leggings to be great. I wear mine at least 2 x week and they have outlasted both next and M&S (who both do great sports leggings but mine have gone baggy or inner seams have come apart). So I’d say if you can buy in the sale then yes. For £80? Just depends on your budget

fellrunner85 · 09/02/2022 21:46

They're good but you can buy far better for a fraction of the price. I have a few pairs of Sweaty Betty I've bought in the sale, but tend to save them for yoga or walking. I'd rather run in my Nikes or Ronhills.

I'm a pretty serious runner though. If I was running shorter distances, and going more slowly, I might get on with SB more. They're made for hanging around in rather than proper sport, IMO.

BillyAndTheSillies · 09/02/2022 21:52

I like the full length power leggings but for running I prefer Lululemon fast and free, they just don't budge an inch and are slightly thicker.

Ponks · 09/02/2022 22:01

I like the SB power leggings but am not a long distance runner, they're fine for 5k certainly. And they are very flattering for the thunder thighed amongst us. There's always a 20% off code available.

However my favourite pair of running leggings is s technical pair from M&S a few years ago. They have some gems sometimes if you are lucky.

RachHen · 09/02/2022 22:03

No

I bought and 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tiddlywinkly · 09/02/2022 22:05

I'm a very active runner. Longer distances. Doing the Boston Marathon this year. I prefer the Power leggings to Zero Gravity. They are great.

PurpleDaisies · 09/02/2022 22:10

I absolutely love the power leggings. I wear them for all my gym classes and runs. If you sign up as an insider, you get a link to sales.

The all day leggings are super comfortable but I mainly wear them casually. They don’t have pockets which is no good for running for me.
