Pretty nightwear for first weekend away together

Arrivederla · 06/02/2022 09:38

So, going away with (fairly) new man. He has stayed over before but this will be the first time we have stayed in a hotel and had a "romantic" trip, iyswim. Wink

I want to buy a pretty nightie/chemise type thing, but struggling to find anything. Everything I find is either ridiculously revealing, cheap shiny fabric or ultra frumpy. Not terribly keen on spaghetti straps as I don't find them very comfortable, but definitely no sleeves!

Anyone got any ideas? I am middle-aged, size12/14 about 5'7" blonde, pale colouring... all help welcomed!

Bonsoir and White Company might be worth a look. Petit Bateau have lots, but with shoestring straps - might be more comfortable as they are cotton?

Do you know One Hundred Stars? Rather lovely gowns and kimonos…perfect for wafting around in.

@StarlightLady

Well, I haven't really worn anything but I have generally been able to stay under the bed clothes/get dressed very quickly! Plus I usually boot him out early in the morning. It's going to be different in a hotel I think 🤔

This is now sounding a bit 1950s!

StarlightLady · 07/02/2022 13:50

If you usually haven’t worn anything, I would carry on as usual. The worst thing about being in an hotel with someone new, isn’t about being seen naked; l’m relaxed about that. It’s the whole bathroom/loo thing in the morning.

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful suggestions. Ive ordered a couple from Pour Moi and I'll report back if they are any good. Smile

Then it’s not for you.

Buying planning nice things to wear is one if the exciting parts of early dating IMO and I’d be like the OP too.

Buy a lovely big white oversized man's shirt instead...much more sexy and can be worn outdoors too.
But not a cheap one
Masai or Ganni or Arket

isthismylifenow · 18/02/2022 19:24

Have you had your weekend away yet OP?

I just wanted to add on I have some lovely nigbt wear from Jockey. Are they comfy and to me are a nicer fabric thst the shiny satin imo.

AchillesPoirot · 18/02/2022 19:33

I was going to say Chanel no5

Do people still buy 'pretty nightwear'?

Yes!

People still and will always buy what they like. Whether it's for a man, themselves, self confidence, whatever. Your money, your choice.

OP, hope you had a lovely time. First time away with now DH I bought a new midnight blue silk number but never actually got to wear it.
Some lovely suggestions on here.

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/02/2022 10:08

@Justkeeppedaling

Fancy nighties for a weekend away is my point. And that women really still do this!Shock
I have to say I WAS thinking this. Surely you’ll just be getting your kit off?! So fancy undies I get, it’s just nightware I am a bit thrown by.

This is not to say it’s not lovely OP!

GreenClock · 19/02/2022 10:11

@MermaidEyes

If you don't find anything you like, don't bother taking anything and just chuck on one of his shirts or t shirts over knickers - never met a man who didn't find that an incredible turn on 😉
So true!
fleurpots · 19/02/2022 10:29

Jesus people are acting like he's demanded she do this!

I take it these people have also never made their partner their favourite dinner, bought them their favourite food at the shop, etc

NeverChange · 19/02/2022 13:51

Some of the comments on this are the best!!!!

Heaven forbid that a women may wish to look after herself, feel sexy and confident and dress well both outwardly and underneath!!!

I can't imagine wearing granny pants or a faded white bra that is well past it's best days. I would feel like a sloth!

I will wear nice underwear and nightwear til the day I die, whether a man sees it or not!!!

Have a fabulous, sexy, confident weekend OP!!!

Just to quickly update if anyone is interested.
We went away and had a lovely time (in spite of a fairly drastic change of venue caused by Storm Eunice!) I didn't manage to find anything quite right to wear, but it didn't really matter as the lacy cami and knickers I went for didn't stay on for more than a few minutes Blush. Apologies for tmi!

I might continue to keep an eye open for something nice (going away again in a month) but not too worried now. If anyone else is looking for something along the same lines, I would suggest maybe thinking about a "robe" type thing instead for first thing in the morning.

Thanks very much to everyone for all the helpful comments; gave me plenty to think about and a lot of laughs! Smile

Lovely that you had a lovely time OP. Always great to feel comfortable as it could otherwise spoil the mood for you.
