Hi everyone,
I am thinking of buying a camel coloured coat. What is your opinion on a camel coat?

Classic and the colour goes well with everything. Have you found one you like,,

DukeofEarlGrey · 29/01/2022 19:52

I have three Grin

IheartJKRowling · 29/01/2022 19:56

I'm wearing my Mum's cashmere camel wrap coat from the 70's. They never date and are a wardrobe classic. I also have three and wouldn't part with any of them.

CaMePlaitPas · 29/01/2022 20:06

You can prize my camel coat out of my cold dead hands. I love camel coats.

KimikosNightmare · 29/01/2022 20:09

I bought my first ever camel coat at the end of last year. It's the camel version of a black Max Mara coat bought in 2019.

I love it. It makes me feel rich and elegant. The black version did too, but camel one is more so.

sometimespeopletakethepiss · 29/01/2022 20:14

Love them

Sexnotgender · 29/01/2022 20:17

Love them. Needs to be good quality though.

SarahBasil · 29/01/2022 20:26

Depends on your colouring imo.

Missingthesea · 29/01/2022 20:37

"Depends on your colouring imo."

Yes. I took my adult daughters with me when i shopped for a coat, tried a camel one on, thought it was lovely but they said it made me look the same colour all over 😕

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 29/01/2022 21:58

If the colour suits you , it does me as an autumn, then go for it in style also that suits you.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 29/01/2022 22:01

I love them and have tried on some fab cashmere ones but the colour does nothing for me, whereas black or navy look great with my colouring.

Supersimkin2 · 29/01/2022 22:43

Hmmm: I think they’ve just been fashionable and so we’ll go off them sooner rather than later.

I’ve had three in the past 5 years and while I’ll still wear the Sandro double-faced camel wool, new coats this year have been dark blue. Very dark blue.

But I’d go Max Mara in the sale or Jaeger if I wanted another camel coat - brilliant quality and really good range of shades.

RampantIvy · 29/01/2022 23:01

@SarahBasil

Depends on your colouring imo.
As a jewel winter beige colours do not suit me at all. I don't understand why camel coats are so popular in mumsnet.
DillDanding · 29/01/2022 23:03

I have one from Whistles. I wear it a lot and it’s very versatile. I alway get compliments when I wear it too.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/01/2022 23:05

They look great on other people but they look shit on me (pale skin, light brown hair).

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/01/2022 23:46

I tried loads of camel coats this winter. Eventually bought this which isn’t exactly camel but it’s good neutral colour and suits my colouring

DramaAlpaca · 29/01/2022 23:50

As a colour I don't like camel. It doesn't suit me at all and I'd never wear it.

ItsRainingTacos · 30/01/2022 00:11

I love how it looks on other people but the colour doesn't suit me or the clothes I have in my wardrobe. I bought a belted wrap one from John Lewis in the sales and wore it for a few months but didn't feel as elegant as most people look in camel colour coats. They look best with cream and light colour clothes where as most of mine are black, navy or grey.

ThackeryBinks · 30/01/2022 00:11

Always wanted a really nice one!

Benvolio · 30/01/2022 00:30

Yes, depending on your colouring. Anything camel would make me look ill, but my friend, radiant.

DukeofEarlGrey · 30/01/2022 00:54

Agree they work better on certain colouring. One reason I love them is that I’m a redhead and look good in camel but awful in other usual outerwear colours like black.

I disagree that they are going out of fashion though. A camel coat is a timeless classic so well worth it if it suits you OP.

MrsClatterbuck · 30/01/2022 01:08

Going through my wardrobe to get rid of some clothes. I have a camel coat bought in the mid nineties from M & S. it's wool with some silk. Still fits me but haven't worn it for some time but I'm really reluctant to get rid. I have too many coats so it's a bit of a quandary. I probably don't need to buy any coats for the next 20 years.

Bussinbussin · 30/01/2022 01:17

I am between camel coats, on the hunt for the perfect one for my next (southern hemisphere) winter.

I'm olive skinned with warm blonde/brown hair and golden brown eyes so they really suit me, I look like a lush caramel dessert in one Grin

MidnightMeltdown · 30/01/2022 01:19

I really dislike camel, but that's probably mainly because it doesn't suit me! I have olive skin and dark brown hair and it washes me out. Some people can wear it, but I think that it's a difficult colour to pull off. Not flattering on many people.

Appalonia · 30/01/2022 01:21

I have 2. They are classic, stylish and go with everything and will last for many years. It's something that will never go out of style, IMO.
