I’ve found the most remarkable hair mask!

My search for good hair products has been literally lifelong. I’ve only ever found a small handful of products that seem to make a notable difference to my hair, and the one that blew my mind was promptly discontinued 😩

Anyway, all that preamble is just to demonstrate that when I say remarkable, I mean it. The mask is the Bleach reincarnation mask; I saw it recommended on Reddit and since it’s sold in Boots and not expensive I took a punt. It’s AMAZING. It made my hair insanely soft and shiny, but the main reason I love it is because it added weight to my hair. I’ve got a lot of hair, but it’s quite fine, so it’s always been a bit floaty. This mask has given it real weight and bounce- it felt like I’d had a fresh haircut and I couldn’t stop swishing it.

I did sit with it in my hair for over an hour (I’d intended just using for ten mins or so but my husband joined me in the bath so we ended up sitting chatting for ages) which may have been why the results were so good; I’ll try it for less time next time and see if it’s as effective.

I just wanted to share as a good conditioner has eluded me for so long. They sell huge jars on the website for £15 (I’ve just ordered 2) but the tube is only £7 in boots so might be worth a punt!

Also, if anyone can suggest a shampoo I’d be grateful! Since I’m getting all my results from the mask I’m really looking for a treatment shampoo for growth etc. but would love recommendations.

Bleach masks are great if your hair is dry.
Wellaplex no 3 once a week is also good. For me better than the Olaplex no8 hair mask.

I swim daily and my hair is coloured so it is constantly needing attention. I like Wella enrich conditioner as well- I buy big bottles of it.

@JaneJeffer where is it on offer?? I can’t see it cheap anywhere!

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2022 15:18

@Ginevere Boots - but I'm in Ireland where there's €3 off at the moment!

Ah ok, fair enough! Hope you get on with it!

@RoseSays before and after picture! The before is just a selfie I took a month or so ago, I’ve replicated the angle today. I left it in for about three minutes, wasn’t as effective as when I left it on for ages. It’s still as soft and shiny, but not as weighted and bouncy. Still 100 times better than my normal conditioner, but definitely seems using it as a mask is the way forward!

(Reposted as I left my wedding photo in the background of the other one 🙈)

I really do think a lot just depends on your hair. I have very fine, bleached hair. I love Reincarnation and use it often. Another product I have found good is the Redken Anti-snap Treatment which you leave in after washing. I tried Kerastase, but found it did nothing for my hair. Strangely, the best shampoo and conditioner I have found for me is the L'Oréal Elvive Fibrology thickening shampoo and conditioner which is pretty cheap and can be bought from most supermarkets.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 28/01/2022 16:40

Does it have silicones in it?

I get the results you're talking about from Michael Van Clarke's LifeSaver, which has no silicones in it.

Ginevere · 28/01/2022 18:14

@Coniferhedge yes that’s true. I’ve tried so many recommendations over the years and not found anything that blew my mind.

@BatshitCrazyWoman not sure tbh! Doesn’t say silicones in the ingredients as far as I can see. Lifesaver sounds good but it’s 4 times the price!

I have tried this - it was rubbish.

Philip Kingsley is the only thing that makes a difference to my hair. And you can get mahoosive bottles from QVC rn.

DukeofEarlGrey · 28/01/2022 19:25

You have lovely hair in both pics OP!

ClariceQuiff · 28/01/2022 19:27

Your hair is a beautiful colour, OP.

PickAndChooseMe · 29/01/2022 12:26

@BatshitCrazyWoman Yes it does contain silicone.

I should have looked at the ingredients before buying it. The mask has protein in it which is what caused the dryness and brittleness.

Youcansaythatagainandagain · 29/01/2022 13:38

I bought it and sadly it hasn’t made any difference.
I left it on for an hour and my hair feels softer but looks the same frizzy mess as always.

ClariceQuiff · 29/01/2022 15:52

Bought mine in Boots today - looking forward to trying it.

Spent 10 minutes peering at the shampoo and conditioner aisles trying to spot it before it occurred to me to look in the dye section.

caprimoon · 29/01/2022 16:03

@Ginevere apologies if you've already been asked / answered this but what does it smell of if anything?

M0rT · 29/01/2022 16:10

I can recommend the palmers shampoo (silicone/paraben free) and leave in conditioner spray. I have frizzy curly hair and only have to wash twice a week, it's not as thick as it once was so may be a sign of dryness.
Leaves my hair soft and not as frizzy, even the 12 week blow dry didn't completely remove the frizz so I've given up on that now.

faustina · 29/01/2022 16:50

Like @Coniferhedge says, I don't think there's a conditioner that works for everyone. I have tried so many things which other people rave about, and they're just rubbish on my hair. There are a few which do, and I rotate them, and I'll be adding the reincarnation masque to them now - haven't got the time to use it every time I wash my hair though. I use Philip Kingsley weightless for that

BatshitCrazyWoman · 30/01/2022 07:49

My hair hates silicone, and make it dry and frizzy, so it's a no from me. Hask do lovely, cheaper, hair masks with no silicone.

Ginevere · 30/01/2022 09:11

@DukeofEarlGrey @ClariceQuiff thank you! I do like the colour and generally like my hair, but it’s very floaty/flyaway and hard to control usually!

@caprimoon very mild ‘product’ smell but no strong or distinctive scent

@faustina no very true, I always go on recommendations and don’t always get the same results as hair type is so important! Just wanted to recommend though as it worked so well for me.

Uptoongirl · 30/01/2022 12:37

Currently sitting with this on my hair (usually do a deep conditioner on a sunday), looking forward to seeing the results. Looking over the posts seems a lots of the people who didn't rate this did rate Philip kingsley, which I believe is more moisturising whereas I think this is more protein based.

ClariceQuiff · 30/01/2022 14:04

I'm hennaing mine as we speak, which always dries it out, so the plan is to wash and condition as normal after the henna comes out, then leave it a couple of days to 'settle' before trying the mask.

Uptoongirl · 30/01/2022 20:02

Hair dried - looks good, no frizz and feels soft. No shine though. Considering it's half the price of my usual Olaplex deep conditioner I like it. Will see how it holds up to my next wash but I'm quite pleased with it!

Beautiful3 · 31/01/2022 11:42

It's arrived!!! Will use it next wash day and update! How long do you leave it on for? @Ginevere.

Ginevere · 31/01/2022 20:08

@Uptoongirl a success overall then? Glad to hear it!

@Beautiful3 mine arrived too!! I’ve got it on right now, going for half an hour today to see how I get on with a shorter time. I can’t be sure how long I used it for last time but it was between and hour and 90 mins for sure!
