As per the title really, love a good cleansing balm so wondered which ones you really rate and recommend.
Have so far tried:
Elemis - lovely but a bit spendy. (Not against spendy recommendations btw)
Body shop chamomile- liked this a lot
Emma Hardie Moringa - meh, it was okay but I don't think it's worth the price point
Clinique - used to like this but I SWEAR they've changed the formula.

Intrigued by the M&S pure rose one but not tried it as yet.

Grateful for any recommendations or HG products!

I’ve been using Eve Lom for over 20 years, doing alternate days with cheaper balms….

Recently I discovered that Primark do a £3 cleansing balm and it’s really really good!

Mommybunny · 30/01/2022 19:02

I love the M&S balm. There was a period last year when I couldn’t get it at M&S and I figured they must have discontinued it, so started searching for alternatives - first I tried Clinique Take the Day Off and then I got a Drunk Elephant balm cleanser from Space NK and they were both … fine … but both left chunks in my fingers and didn’t fully dissolve. I never had that with the M&S balm and I found it annoying. Then I went back to M&S and they not only had the rose balm but it was 20% off so I stocked up. It leaves my skin soft and calm. Lovely.

Liz Earle. Lasts ages.

waitingforsun · 30/01/2022 19:33

Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balmis lovely

Flockameanie · 30/01/2022 19:50

I love the Body Shop one. Doesn’t make my eyes sting.

Tried the Q + A grapefruit one (you can buy at Holland and Barrett) as an alternative cos there’s no Body Shop near me. It’s ok - leaves a bit of a residue, which the BS one doesn’t (and is one of the reasons I like it) but it didn’t break me out, which cleansers often do.

The lush ultrabland and plantbland are really good and last forever.

Rosynose · 30/01/2022 19:56

*ultraplant!

I'm another fan of the M&S one. I agree it doesn't smell of rose at all but it does a great job! I initially bought it hoping for rose...

happyrainydays · 30/01/2022 21:23

The aldi one is fab. It's on the middle aisle this week, I saw it today. 6.99. Smells amazing too. It comes in a box with a Muslim cloth. I always stock up when it's in store.

Zinnia · 30/01/2022 21:45

Love the M&S one, but no it's not rosey at all, more like lemon. It does however do the job brilliantly and has converted me from Liz Earle.

JFM27 · 30/01/2022 21:55

Marks and Spencer Pure Rose balm is fab.far better than Elemis at half the price, i use their night cream day cream and Face pack.Thats it its brillant,my beaurican of 20 years says my skin better than when she first knew me.

Petrarkanian · 30/01/2022 21:58

Lyonsleaf beauty balm. Can't recommend it more. Removes all makeup and is really moisturising.

Ladybirdbookworm · 30/01/2022 22:00

I bought the Primark one yesterday and so far I’m impressed.
£3 for 50ml

HerRoyalHappiness · 30/01/2022 22:01

The elemis is definitely my favourite. I keep coming back to it.

I also like the inkey list oat cleansing balm but jot as much as I like the elemis.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 30/01/2022 22:03

Another vote for the M&S Rose and lemon one. I'm on my second jar and it's lovely and reasonably priced.

Marks and Spencer cleanse balm ( not the rose one)

I know you mentioned it but I love the Clinique Take the Day Off. It's expensive but works quite well, imo. Gets rid of everything. I've heard about the Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and just got the Aldi dupe so I'll wait and see.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 30/01/2022 22:35

Thanks for all the suggestions... Have decided to try the M&S one next. :)

Ponds cold cream is amazing

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 30/01/2022 22:45

I’ve used Johnson’s baby lotion for years! Gets everything off including waterproof mascara, smells lovely and leaves my skin really clean. Use it with microfibre flannels, wet or dry, which I get at Primark. I’ve used more expensive cleansers over the years that I’ve been gifted or have treated myself to, but always come back to the baby lotion.

I’ve just started using this and I really like it so far!

NoToLandfill · 30/01/2022 23:18

Aldi Aldi Aldi Laura cleansing balm!

Way better than the elemis one. Aldi takes mascara off too and is more melty.

I got the Aldi one in the lacura advent calendar. First thing I bought full size. It's in the shops this week. Well I bought 2 as no idea when it's coming back in stock. Does come with a double sided facecloth too.

Absolute best buy imo

I bought one from Amazon in lockdown, as a previous Eve Lom fan and on my last dregs, I've just bought the third tub because it's so good, JunoSkin cleansing balm. I'll try and link...

I've recently started using the Neal's yard rose balm, it's brilliant as a cleanser, or you can use it as a mask then take it off with a hot muslin, I also use it on my lips, dry elbows, DS recently had some wind chap on his face. I'm a bit obsessed with it. It's £40 usually but recently got it in their sale for £28 and it feels like I use it and use it and the pot doesn't go down

To be fair I used this when the rose one went out of stock for ages as mentioned by a PP, and it is also very good, but still prefer the the "rose" (not actually rose) one.
