Me+Em?

I’ve been after a pair of wool (or wool blend) relaxed trousers for ages and have finally spotted these ones from Me+Em:

www.meandem.com/italian-speckle-relaxed-straight-leg-trouser-navy

It’s a brand I’ve heard of but haven’t bought from them before. Quite pricey but I’m happy to spend this for the right fit/style.

Is it a brand that’s worth the money? What’s the fit like? How are they for returns etc.

I’m hoping I can wear these casually with trainers/slouchy jumper but also dress them up with heeled boots and a blouse (or something. Am not at all stylish!).

Many thanks.

I'd say it's good quality, and a reputable company yes, but I'd also only buy in the sale.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 20/01/2022 15:38

Just returned a hugely expensive (for me!) shirt as I just couldn’t justify the price tag for the quality of it. Really disappointed - lusted after it all year and bought it in the sale but still way too expensive to consider keeping.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 20/01/2022 15:40

Those trousers are lovely. I’ve bought a few nice things from there but only in the sale, I can’t afford it otherwise.

Verite1 · 20/01/2022 15:40

Have lots. Very expensive but good quality. Although price seems to differ widely on clothes. I always look out for sales. My fave dress last summer was from them - I wore it constantly - worth every penny. It gives size advice on the site (eg size down). However, it definitely runs big. I often size down in their clothes.

QueenMabby · 20/01/2022 19:02

Thank you. I’ve had an eye on these trousers for three months but no sale price as yet. I also resent laying full price for something so expensive but I really can’t find anything else similar for cheaper.

I have two heavy jersey work dresses from them, they have been washed and washed and still look good.

HopelesslyOptimistic · 20/01/2022 19:12

Fab quality, material, fit, design. Yes very pricey though, so choose your pieces carefully. I've invested in their wide leg trousers (stripe down side) because they are my staple that I dress up and down. Price per wear pennies. They have great discounted sales, but, size 12/14 go very quickly. I would say they are similar to M&S sizing.

Ponks · 20/01/2022 21:25

I have a couple of pairs of trousers, they are great quality and very flattering cut. Sign up for emails and you might get a discount particularly in your birthday month.

I have a few dresses and great jeans. Pricey but decent quality. Really dislike their tops, I find them too short and quite often, wildly overpriced given the fabric.

Thank you. This will help! May purchase and will report back!

@ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul which shirt was it? I’ve ordered a couple in the sale to dress up jeans and a cardie (am breastfeeding so need boob access but I’m bored of my nursing tops!) but not arrived yet so hoping not to be too disappointed. I’ve also never bought from the brand before although I always though their stuff looked stylish.

Abra1d1 · 21/01/2022 09:11

I love their trousers. My most useful pair are a pair of wide-legged palazzo/joggers with a stripe down the side in a jersey material. Despite the casual label, they are very elegant and go with almost everything.

I've also picked up a few of their fine-knit jumpers preloved and these are also very versatile.

My income is drastically down at the moment otherwise I'd be buying more from them.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 21/01/2022 09:12

@CaptainWentworth I returned the
Fine Stripe Cotton Broderie Blouse - it was ok, but only ok, and I just couldn’t square it with the price. I thought it was very, very flimsy. I have never bought from them before so maybe I was just unlucky.

CaptainWentworth · 21/01/2022 09:16

Oh no, that’s one of the ones I had high hopes for- never mind, hopefully one of the others will be nice. I love the look of their jumpers too but telling myself I don’t need another one right now.

Thisbastardcomputer · 21/01/2022 09:18

I bought some of the palazzo pants, the quality is great but they were a good 6 inches too long, I'm 5' 6"

AtillatheHun · 21/01/2022 09:23

Ha! Bastard, I’d just come to ask whether anyone under 5’6 has successfully bought anything from them. The trouble is that none of the designs are shorten-able as have cuffs / turn ups/ tiers / etc

Lanique · 21/01/2022 09:45

My favourite brand, but I can only justify buying at sale price. If I won the lotto I'd shop with them all the time.

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/01/2022 11:07

They tend to be far too long for me. Those trousers are long on the model and she's 5'9'

Mercurial123 · 21/01/2022 12:07

They love selling polyester clothing at inflated prices. Jigsaw usually sell something similar with a higher wool content.

I hate overpriced polyester too. These ones are wool and I looked there because my usual places (Jigsaw, Hobbs etc) were only selling polyester/viscose and I couldn’t find a wool pair!

@CaptainWentworth - will be interested to see what you think when it arrives. Maybe I am just too price sensitive and it was too expensive.

LizziesTwin · 21/01/2022 13:45

I have some of their trousers & had them taken up. I asked the dry cleaners to take up the zip as well but I don’t wear them with the zip undone so wouldn’t bother again.

Mercurial123 · 21/01/2022 14:41

QueenMabby fair enough but they are quite high in polyester and acrylic.

45% Wool, 32% Polyester, 16% Acrylic, 5% Silk, 2% Elastane

You’re right! I totally had these in my head as all wool. Well then. I can happily not buy them then! I may have to wait now until this coming autumn for what I want - last of the winter stock is being sold off and it won’t be long until it’s all spring weights and cropped lengths!
