Massive spot on forehead... bridesmaid in 3 days... tips?

I often get cystic acne (but not on my forehead Angry !!) so I have salicylic acid, niacinamide (sp?) and those little patches you can put on overnight. What’s my best plan? Obviously lots of concealer on the day but trying to get it down first.

Definitely DO NOT try to squeeze it. Easier to cover an unsqueezed spot.

I've used ibuprofen gel on spots before now to reduce swelling? Not sure if that's good or bad advice though!

Ice pack? Keep it wrapped in a cloth - don't burn your skin with the ice. Could also help a lot with swelling.

Body shop tea tree oil is a miracle worker

Mario Badescu drying lotion.

Hydrocolloid patches

ShowMeTheSugar · 12/01/2022 19:09

Salicylic acid during the day and the overnight patches. 3 days of that should do the trick

yellowtotebag · 12/01/2022 19:11

Lots of tea tree oil for me too!

I second this, I used it before my wedding.

Also, I'm even saying this as a sporner, don't squeeze it, it will look worse.

Go to a dermatologist and get a cortisone injection if you want a quick fix.

EntreMummy · 12/01/2022 19:15

I know you may think this will sound barmy - but bear with me as I have years of experience dealing with cystic acne!

Over night - put a thick layer of sudocrem (yes, the same stuff that you put on babies bums for nappy changes)
This stuff is amazing for reducing redness and swelling. By morning it will have made a difference I promise.

During the day, add Savlon to the spot - this is brilliant stuff at also reducing.

Finally - I recommend you try Mandelic Acid from The Ordinary. This is miracle stuff for me. It prevents and reduces cystic acne (and also smooths out wrinkles!!) this is night time use only.

To be honest I have found the niacinamide and salicylic can actually make a cystic spot once appeared, take longer to disappear - as they tend to “harden” it rather than either draw it out or reduce it.

Best of luck.

Will any of these specialist products arrive in time though? The OP said the wedding is in 3 days.

SilverHairedCat · 12/01/2022 19:42

None of the advice is specialist stuff - most is available in any supermarket and The Ordinary is in larger Boots.

Question about cortisone injections - would hydrocortisone cream do any good or is it totally different?

Sort0f · 12/01/2022 19:57

Spot of salt you’ve acid on for fifteen minutes, then a clay mask. Then a ice pack- large ice cube in a plastic bag and hold it against the spot until the ice melts.
Spot patches overnight.
Repeat everyday until the wedding.

Usually helps me to minimise the amount of refined sugar I have at for a few days too if I get a bad one.

Good luck and enjoy the wedding.

Windex

Sort0f · 12/01/2022 20:04

Salicylic acid not salt you’ve acid, sorry!

Gunpowder · 12/01/2022 20:07

Agree with sudocrem every night. Makes a huge difference

SueGrayInvestigates · 12/01/2022 22:02

Thanks everyone. I don’t have all of these but I do have Sudocrem and a clay mask, though it’s a bit old I think.

Second the cortisone injection. Drastic but will deffo work

TheVanguardSix · 12/01/2022 23:06

toothpaste!

VolvicHenry · 12/01/2022 23:09

I'm going against the grain here, but I would pop it. Then liberally apply TCP on it immediately afterwards.

TheVanguardSix · 12/01/2022 23:10

Also...

Crush an aspirin and mix it with a bit of warm water.
Sleep with it on as a spot treatment.

GoGoGretaDoll · 12/01/2022 23:13

If it's right in the centre of your forehead it's the spot of living well, according to Chinese face-mapping. So no booze between now and the wedding, tonnes of water, no sugar. Soz. I usually get one in-between Christmas and NY which is how I know...

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2022 08:01

Cortisone injection with a dermatologist.

batmanladybird · 13/01/2022 09:13
