I'm looking for a dress to wear to a wedding next month. Very unhappy with my body at the minute since having a baby 3 months ago. I ordered this and it looked much nicer online. Is it very frumpy/grannyish? I think it might be. I am 27 and a size 12 at the minute if it helps. I've spent hours looking but can't find anything I like, I hate online shopping as it is! I don't have a large budget due to mat leave, roughly £30 for a dress. I definitely don't want anything that shows my stomach, I was looking for a wrap midi dress with a tie belt (to help hide my stomach area) but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Any suggestions would be great!

YOU. LOOK. AMAZING. Love that colour on your.

groovergirl · 12/01/2022 06:57

You look gorgeous! Gold, bronze or silver shoes would zing up the sombre green for the festive occasion. You could try high-heeled Mary Janes or perhaps courts with Louis heels. I'd avoid black, unless the weather is dire and you go with a black tights and boots combo. Make sure you can dance in whatever shoes you choose. 😊

I actually prefer the colour in the photos of you rather than the Internet pic. It looks lovely on you.

Nomoreporridge872 · 12/01/2022 07:12

I normally hate black shoes but I actually think they would go with this dress

FurryAntiWaxer · 12/01/2022 07:16

I prefer the actual colour of the dress. It matches your hair perfectly. The shape of the dress looks great too. You've nailed it.

EmergencyPoncho · 12/01/2022 07:21

You look really lovely!

sashh · 12/01/2022 07:28

I think black knee high boots or fuchsia pink heels and bag.

I'd consider dumping the dress belt and using a different one to match shoes / boots. The belt on the model looks like it has been lined with something to make it stiff, you want that stiffness to show of those gorgeous curves.

EmergencyPoncho · 12/01/2022 07:37

I don't have a big problem with the shoes, but I'd maybe go for a brighter gold pair. A bright gold bag and hair accessory would lift it too.

Loosegrowndiamond · 12/01/2022 07:40

@youtown

It looks lovely! I don't think it's frumpy at all although I would change the shoes, it's the shoes that make it grumpy IMO

Dress looks amazing on you though

This looks awesome!
WinchGirl · 12/01/2022 07:50

Beautiful dress and you look fab in it too. Agree with the other posters just needs a different pair of shoes to complete the look. Your hair deserves Star Star Star Star Star though.

DSGR · 12/01/2022 08:17

I clicked on your dress and have just ordered it! Stunning.
I agree that bright gold would work for shoes etc. you look amazing

Palavah · 12/01/2022 10:43

The shoes look grand to me. They are gold! When you add in accessories - do you have or could you borrow a gold bag and/or headband?

doubleshotcappuccino · 12/01/2022 14:14

Looks lovely ! And another big fan of your hair .. I think maybe go for a higher shoe but maybe a wedge and or thick heel that you can wear again.. I liked a blockier show when I had little ones that I had to carry around

Xx1d1xX · 13/01/2022 00:40

I think it's a lovely dress but agree the shoes don't go and aren't giving it the height I think it needs to show off it's shape. Also try to tighten the belt more to pull it in at the waist to get better shape as looks a bit loose on you at the moment around that area. I loved something similar to this in colour that's on Pretty Little Thing website. I will attach a picture of it and think the type of shoes the woman is wearing with it would suit your dress best as well. If you decide you're not happy with it, there are a lot of wrap type dresses on Pretty Little Thing and they are all reasonably priced. I have been surprised how good quality the items I have purchased have been too if that helps.

Enjoy the wedding when it comes.

I love it on you !

Taoneusa · 13/01/2022 10:25

You really do look lovely. For myself, I like the gold shoes you have on, they look romantic and stylish without any try - hard vibe.

Your uncertainty Is a side effect of just having had a baby and your body looking different than how it was before. But please rest assured by the responses in this thread. You look absolutely lovely. Smile

Fatherliamdeliverance · 13/01/2022 10:30

I think it looks really stylish and great with your colouring. Don't over accessorise but I would go for a metallic bag and earrings.

this would look lovely with your hair colour.

I agree with others that the shoes are not doing that dress or you justice (despite being a lovely pair of sandals on their own!).

I thinks sometimes small heels with dress lengths like this it makes you look a bit frumpy. so I think either totally flat but glam or something higher heeled is what's needed.

As I say, really like the dress but agree with this
