Help needed to find a non-wedding dress wedding dress

I hope you lot can help me - I'm getting married for the second time this summer and don't really know what to wear. We're going to have a relaxed informal wedding party a few days after we get married in a registry office so I'm not looking for a proper wedding dress but I'd like to wear something special.

I'm early 50s, 5 foot 5, and size 12 - my middle is much bigger than it used to be so am a bit confused about what suits me these days. I'm hoping to lose a bit of weight by the summer but probably best to avoid things with a skinny/fitted waist. My legs are ok.

I'd like something that I feel comfortable in, that makes me feel like it's a special day and is ok for my age without being frumpy! I'll post a few pictures of things I like but I'm not sure if they'd be ok. Some of them are more money than I want to spend. Budget ideally no more than £300.

Yes, great idea to add a lace jacket @GettingMarriedAgain - the dress and jacket together are roughly your original budget (and you get 10% off your first purchase) which is an added bonus!

Also, you can email the designer to ask specific questions about fit etc. which is helpful.

Remember that there are places where you can hire designer dresses now.

This may give the quality you want at an affordable price.

After trying a few things on, I've had a complete change of heart and have gone back to my jumpsuit idea. I found this one which is a lot cheaper than the one I'd seen originally and surprisingly it looks ok on:

I need some help to accessorise it though as I'm clueless. I'm thinking it would be nice to add some colour.

What sort of shoes would go with it? I don't mind a bit of a heel but I want to be comfortable and we're having a garden party so I don't want to be stuck to the grass by tiny stilettos.

Also it might get a bit chilly in the evening so I'll need some sort of jacket to put over it. I'm thinking something a bit colourful like a kimono jacket. Maybe like the one in the attached picture. Though I guess that might not be very warm.

ChristmasCalamity thank you - I'll look at wedges, though I'm not very good at walking in the strappy one. The kimono is nice isn't it? Not expensive either as it's from New Look.

I ended up buying a white (well cream) jumpsuit from ASOS which I think looks nice. Was only £50 too.
