Has anyone got a dyson air wrap ?

Has anyone got one ? Is it worth the money? I have naturally curly hair and I prefer it smooth and swishy . I've been debating it for a long time and now they are out of stock everywhere !

Best thing I've ever bought, saved me a fortune in blow dries.

BowlofRamen · 06/02/2022 14:27

I've had one for a year and I'm still getting to grips with it tbh.

It definitely dried out my already bleach fried hair, but I actually now use it on a lower heat setting when using the barrel brush, which actually gives more volume, because it doesn't smooth down the cuticles quite so much with less heat, so I prefer that. I blast it on high heat with the regular dryer attachment for a few minutes first until it's practically dry. It was definitely the barrel brush on high heat that was ruining my hair. Even after just a couple of weeks on lower heat, I can feel my hair is much less dry.

I agree the curlers are quite underwhelming.

I should say my hair type is long, normal to thick, very wavy,/frizzy/slightly coarse. From beginning to end, takes about 30 minutes.

any of you who are disappointed with your airwraps fancy selling to me?? I'd love to buy but can't justify full price for a new one!

gunnersgold · 30/06/2022 12:49

I might consider it .. mine has been out the box for 10 mins before i repacked it ! Are they still tricky to get hold of ?

We got DD9 one for her birthday. Her hair is thick and curly too and it looks amazing with the air wrap.
I love mine but I have naturally straight hair so need the volume it gives me.

bumbelinabumsquash · 30/06/2022 14:43

not tricky... just expensive! i borrowed my friend's this weekend though, and fell in love... just can't justify full price!!

NoToLandfill · 30/06/2022 14:49

Yes and yes!

NoToLandfill · 30/06/2022 14:49

Boots Website has them

NoToLandfill · 30/06/2022 17:15

I don't understand why there are 2 similar brushes. Round brush, hairdryer bit and 2 barrels. But why 2 brushes? Odd.

The barrels are AMAZING. And it makes the coolest sci-fi whoomp noise each time you turn it off. I have amazing hair now. Yes it is horrifically expensive and apparently they nicked the airwrap technology. But bloody hell it's amazing.

Isabelle70 · 30/06/2022 21:34

I got mine from QVC with 60 days return period if I don't like it and also pay over 3 months. So far it's been 6 weeks and it's not going back !
I sold an unused spiny brush thing and a GHD hot brush so the cost wasn't so bad :)

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 30/06/2022 21:41

How expensive are they?

Isabelle70 · 01/07/2022 13:34

@TwinkleToesStrikesAgain I think they are about £450

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 01/07/2022 14:03

@Isabelle70 that's what I thought but then someone up thread mentioned that their 9 year had one? I think that's more than I've spent on haircuts in the last 8 years..... I suspect it's not the thing for me (I'll stick to winding down the window in the car to dry my hair)

Havehope21 · 21/11/2022 06:57

@Whitechocraspberrycheesecake - hi there. I know this is an older thread but I was thinking about getting one and wondered if you could explain what you do in stages for straight hair please?

Coffeepot72 · 21/11/2022 08:21

And can the Dyson style a straight bob with a touch of volume?

ColeensBoot · 21/11/2022 11:26

Yes it is ridiculously expensive.
But I means I can do a lovely curly hair do myself. And not have to go to a hairdresser. Which I never do, so I always had shit hair.
It's only worth it if you have the money. Else normal massive barrel tongs are a longer lasting but more hair damaging solution. £20 or £475 though
