I am buying a Didriksons Erika parka. I am aware that this is school mum territory and not a catwalk piece. But would like to maximize the style factor as much as poss! (if that is at all poss)

But do I go for the Rioja Red or the Deep Green? I've lost the ability to make the small decisions in life, please help Mumsnet!

I have dark hair, pale skin and I have "deep autumn" colouring. TIA

By the way, the red is a more muted burgundy in real life than the picture here.

I’d go for the black if you really need to buy it.

SerendipitySunshine · 08/01/2022 09:58

I'd go for the red. I have it in dark blue and it's a brilliant coat.

Plutonium7000 · 08/01/2022 10:04

Argh, now don't start throwing black into the mix! I do like the black too.
Thanks for the responses!

And I do need to buy it, spend half my life trekking round in the rain.

I'd go for the red. I have a dark chestnut brown coat and love the warm colour of it compared to my other recent black and charcoal grey coats.

dudsville · 08/01/2022 10:09

Don't get black, everyone has it, it's so depressing! Either of these will be nice, or the blue, or basically any colour!

LongestBedtimeStoryEver · 08/01/2022 10:12

I do like the red, but as it’s £25 more and I also like the green, I’d probably get that!

WalkingOnSonshine · 08/01/2022 10:12

The red/burgundy.

Bit more unusual & more flattering than black with your skin tone. Also goes well with denim, navy and black trousers so won’t look weird.

I have a burnt red colour coat & always get compliments for it being unusual & not just the typical practical coat colours.

ShanghaiDiva · 08/01/2022 10:13

Red or blue.

crossstitchingnana · 08/01/2022 10:15

I like the green.

Ninkanink · 08/01/2022 10:16

I’d usually say the khaki because it is lovely too and one of my favourite colours. But in this case I’m going to say burgundy because it’s a lovely and very versatile colour which will add a nice bit of interest to your outfits.

LavenderRosemary · 08/01/2022 10:18

I like the red.

OldWivesTale · 08/01/2022 10:30

Either is nice. Not black. I'd go for khaki but the red is nice too.

Lykia · 08/01/2022 11:56

The red one is lovely.

slightlysnippy · 08/01/2022 12:16

I'd choose the blue, think the burgundy looks a bit mumsy. Although if your going to wear it every day and a colour would cheer your day up, go for the burgundy.

Diggersaursarethebest · 08/01/2022 12:19

Red

StarlightLady · 08/01/2022 12:31

Red, red, red. And red 😀.

Plutonium7000 · 08/01/2022 12:56

Thank you everyone!! I do like the red in the pictures but as I said, I real life it is more of a muted pinky red than a deep maroon (sadly). So @slightlysnippy I know exactly what you mean!

I'll let you know what I decide as I know you'll all be on the edge of your seats until you find out.

I’d get the green as it’s a neutral colour. Burgandy reminds me of school uniforms and I avoid it.

But… in order to be helpful with your colour choice, you will have to say what colours you usually wear? If you wear tan boots, the red won’t particularly suit them. If you wear dark brown boots, the red will look good. If you wear lots of light neutral colours, the green will look great.

Ninkanink · 08/01/2022 13:02

If you don’t love the red don’t buy it. You won’t use it, or at least you won’t enjoy using it. The khaki is a great colour too.

Freebus · 08/01/2022 13:21

I'd go green

Plutonium7000 · 08/01/2022 13:35

@Dancingonmoonlight I usually wear warm, dark colours - red, orange, dark green, chocolate brown, dark teal, leopard print. Black or navy trousers with beige trainers or dark brown/camel/black boots.

Red is a bit Hayley from coronation street.
