Is Avon any good?

Got a brochure through the door today.

The idea of having beauty products delivered through the door appeals as spending ages browsing the counters doesn't really work with a young baby!

Is any of it any good?

I ordered a few bits at Christmas for the first time, shower gel, hand/foot cream and really didn't think much of it to be honest! The scents just aren't very nice at all!

Opal8 · 06/01/2022 17:18

The face creams and shampoo are good imo
Some of the perfumes are by master perfumers for < £20!!
My children liked the bubble baths and shampoos when they were young

TameDucksAtChatsworth · 06/01/2022 19:12

After having spent a fortune on hand creams, I've found that their Total Care Firming is better than most!

It is horrible packaging though-looks like something you would find in a medical box.

isthismylifenow · 06/01/2022 19:21

Their glimmerstick eyeliner is the best I have found.

which perfumes do you recomment?

Doesn't matter sadly, as by buying it you are supporting an MLM

gelatodipistacchio · 06/01/2022 22:01

My grandmother sold this throughout my childhood! Their skin so soft line is legendary.

Tinks15 · 06/01/2022 22:29

Couple of people recently told me their make up is rubbish…I’ve never tried it.

JMAngel1 · 07/01/2022 06:42

Glimmersticks eye liners - really creamy but no budge - the plum and khaki are gorgeous.
Anew lip conditioner - really plumping.

grafittiartist · 07/01/2022 06:46

I love Avon- wish I had a rep.
The hand cream is excellent.

Bluntness100 · 07/01/2022 06:49

You can just order on line, you don’t need a rep.

Deathraystare · 07/01/2022 07:54

@isthismylifenow

I would agree with that. Their Glimmerstick eyeliners are the best! I buy them from Amazon though.

TrashyPanda · 07/01/2022 07:59

Face creams and serums - excellent
Mascaras - excellent

Door to door service, good choice and reasonable prices - I love Avon.

Strictlydusting · 07/01/2022 08:03

When I have used Avon products in the past I have chosen what I want in the brochure and then bought it much cheaper on eBay. There are always really good deals on Avon stuff there

savvy7 · 07/01/2022 09:07

Another vote for the Glimmerstick eye pencils - they are fantastic value and on a par with premium products

Can you believe they discontinued that blue one here in my country!

I could not. Why would you discontinue your most popular product....

Sigh

Hotyogahotchoc · 07/01/2022 13:50

I'd say it's ok but you could probably get better shower gels and make up in the supermarket for the most part.

Inthesameboatatmo · 08/01/2022 07:35

I think most of it is utter crap tbh. Saying that though I've repurchased their far away perfume since I was around 16 I'm early 40s now .

Snugglepumpkin · 08/01/2022 08:17

They do have some good things from time to time over the years, but unfortunately they then promptly discontinue them.

The Skin So Soft Dry Oil Spray (original one) is the best thing they do sell.
My mother is allergic to pretty much everything but can use it & when she does no flying things bite her.

We all use that stuff in the summer & stay bite free.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 08/01/2022 08:20

Their mascaras are pretty good, and reasonably priced.
I finally found one that lasted the day from Avon, and that's a miracle.

picklemewalnuts · 08/01/2022 08:25

The max effects primer. Mum loves it. Eyeliners are good.

Howshouldibehave · 08/01/2022 08:34

Nope-it’s an MLM scheme.

I did try that Skin so soft spray as they really touted it as an insect repellent. It’s awful stuff- horribly sticky, makes you smell like the bin and the gnats still bite every inch of you. I honestly wouldn’t bother.

RoseMartha · 08/01/2022 08:39

The hand cream is great
And my dc's like the body mists and the make up.
Also the reed diffusers are good.
