Is Avon any good?

Got a brochure through the door today.

The idea of having beauty products delivered through the door appeals as spending ages browsing the counters doesn't really work with a young baby!

Is any of it any good?

It's great and always has been. Lots of research and development gone on for at least 50 years and no paying huge publicity machines or shop space means more money goes into that R&D. They were one of the first companies to start producing retinol based skincare, exfoliating acid products etc. Years before they became buzzwords.
Regarding the MLM thing- Avon have always had reps. And always been transparent about the T&C.
What's good now, although obviously not for the reps, is that you can just buy directly online. Though it's a fond memory of my childhood when the Avon lady came round with the new catalogue.
I agree about the Glimmerstix. I have about 10.

Glimmer stick, Avocado hand cream, lipsticks are good.
Things I thought not so good ultimate mascara- made my eyes itch, gingerbread Xmas range - revolting smell, far away and beyond perfume - gave it away as too heavy & sickly for me.

The long stay eyeliners are fantastic, one of the few brands that i can wear on my sensitive eyes along with the eye primer

ufucoffee · 08/01/2022 20:01

I love their long lasting eyeliner and face primer. I buy it from a colleague at work who has never tried to recruit any of us and has been selling it for years so it may be an mlm for some but I like buying it from her.

You're best just using boots online or something tbh
KiloWhat · 09/01/2022 07:35

It does depend on the rep though as some just won't give up after you buy one thing from them. Others genuinely don't care if you never buy from them again. I'd buy online just incase your rep is one of those that keeps pestering

GoodnightGrandma · 09/01/2022 07:36

I bought some make up and wasn’t impressed. Didn’t buy anything again.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 09/01/2022 07:51

Avon used to have a money back guarantee, if you didnt like a product.
Not sure if they still do, but worth giving things a try, if so.

littlebilliie · 09/01/2022 07:55

I've just bought some makeup from them it's seems lovely

These days there are loads of online retailers like culture beauty, feel unique etc that offer a better range and delivers free.

Avon nothing to write home about imo and probably a lot less popular than it used to be

Avon was a direct selling company and each “Avon Lady” had their own patch. A few years ago Avon became MLM and it became possible to recruit, the more the better for Avon but not for the reps. Now it’s a totally saturated market (same for Body Shop at Home) and very difficult to make money. There can be pressure from uplines to make self purchases to boost their figures. This is why there is so much Avon stuff all over ebay and FB Marketplace. MLM equals exploitation. Avon isn’t the same as it was.
LivingDeadGirlUK · 09/01/2022 15:15

Boots, Superdrug, look fantastic, beauty bay, Amazon even supermarkets are all ways to buy online that don't support MLM.

As PP say there is loads of Avon going cheap on Ebay, stock being off loaded by ex reps to try and claw back some money!
