What do you think of this Louis Vuitton?

I love it I think - even though Louis Vuitton can sometimes be overbearing I like the style of this as it seems vintage and therefore a bit less chav?! I haven't bought a Louis Vuitton I'm a while but I really like this. It's very small so hoping it won't look weird?

Thoughts?

@saturning

you are also suggesting that market stalls are not valid - i find that a very sweeping assumption too.
There’s nothing wrong with market stalls. I’ve bought lovely things from them, just not cheap copies of very expensive bags.
saturning · 06/01/2022 11:48

My point exactly.^^ I've bought magic gloves, ex-store clothes from M and S etc

So, what precisely is the point you’re trying to make?
Iamthewombat · 06/01/2022 12:02

@saturning

Iamthewombat You say I made assumptions - cant you see that made assumptions about me Grin. Why are you making this personal? Why do you care so much?
One for my bingo card. Whenever somebody tries the “why do you care so much?” gambit, it’s a sure sign that they are losing the argument.

Here is why I challenged you: it’s because I’ve never seen an over-inflated ego I haven’t wanted to puncture.

As if you were ever going to admit that I am right: “ yes, I am a blowhard who tried a crushing put down but failed, not least because I can’t use common expressions properly”.

Can you see how pompous it is to weigh into a thread saying, “yes, well those know-nothings are clueless about fake designer bags. I, the expert on, and fountain (sic) of knowledge about, Louis Vuitton bags, would never be fooled by a fake because I am familiar with the brand”?

No, of course you can’t. Now stop embarrassing yourself.

TickleMyFanny · 06/01/2022 12:03

I've got this exact one - it's lovely and very practical

really like it. the vachetta will darken with use. the LV canvas is brilliant quality and really holds it's value. Agree it's come full circle, very desirable again.

Onlyrainbows · 06/01/2022 12:08

How about a camera bag? That size fits most things! I have a Gucci one and it's great

I am storing that for future use Grin Grin Grin

@saturning

I really love it, super cute.

I would not assume it's a fake.If it was a neverfull or another longstanding or very popular style, even then, Id not assume it was fake but that's because I'm familiar with the brand.

Please dont let other opinions on here influence you - well do let them but only a little bit, sometimes objectivity can help.

Mumsnet style and beauty is not what I'd call a fountain of knowledge for high end/ high value items and some (or many) people are horrified a handbag could cost more than £200. In fact, quite a few times I have not known a brand or product there have been threads about and I am a seasoned shopper!!

If you think you'd enjoy owning it, using it and it would work with your personal style - BUY IT.

You are familiar with the brand ? Are you one of the specialists employed by LV to counteract the fake trade ?
Gonnagetgoing · 06/01/2022 14:22

@saturning

Gonnagetgoing I have a 1992 vintage bucket bag, not quite as vintage as yours but it's very sweet and quirky. Are you going to ever use it?
@saturning - I have used it a couple of times in the past when I had a friend who also had LV logo bags and we would go out together - it's a smaller bag - I think a shoulder bag with quite a distinctive strap and clasp - it's just not my style at all.
saturning · 06/01/2022 14:38

IamGusFring Eh? Relax. Where on earth has that come from? Bit of a stretch from what I actually wrote.

Let's stop derailing this thread with trying to score points or correcting one another- I'm including myself in that statement.

sansucre · 06/01/2022 17:12

I'm not usually a fan of logos or Louis Vuitton but the LV is so much more special than the Bottega bag. They're also two very different bags, so not really comparable either. The LV bag will wear much better than the Bottega, and hold its value.

In other words, “I want to keep banging on about my precious bags to feel superior, but I want you all to forget about the silly remarks I made earlier. Anyone who won’t accept that I am an expert in luxury goods, unlike the rest of you, with no supporting evidence, is a BIG MEANIE!”

IvorCutler · 07/01/2022 20:23

Can’t remember if I’ve already commented. I like the bag but I saw this today and think it’s nicer (and similarish). No idea how much it costs!

It’s €890. Bargain in comparison 😂

Anjo2011 · 07/01/2022 20:26

Great shape but looks like it will be tricky to get into and use practically. I like a bag in an look into even if it’s a smallish bag.

ChampagneLassie · 07/01/2022 20:30

I think it depends when you'd use it. I think this is a perfect bag for running errands/day trips/commuting (with a proper big bag for other stuff if needed). I've got a 10 year old neverful that I chuck on a bike/let get dirty/inadvertently spill stuff in and it cleans up and still looks great.

Oldraver · 07/01/2022 20:44

Horrible. I don't like branding all over an item at all

GofE · 22/09/2022 09:09

Ooh, lots of mixed reviews on here. I love a handbag, and a bit of an LV addict. Don't see many fakes, but, none of my business if I do (and yep - can mostly tell), or what other people potentially think about mine. Wondering if you bought it in the end :-)

GettingStuffed · 22/09/2022 12:22

Tacky as hell it shouts look at me I can afford to buy Louis Vuitton

You could say that about anything .. Carrying a Waitrose bag instead of Aldi.

If something makes a person happy and doesn't hurt anyone else, i'm all for it :-)

Stichintime · 03/01/2022 22:53

I'm amazed that LV still makes any sales with their monogram stuff. It always look naff and cheep, how ever many thousands have been spent on it.

and this, no attention to detail

DreamingOfSoftWhiteSand · 22/09/2022 15:32

Very, very nice. I have a few LV pieces but I agree today's prices seem way higher than they used to be (even counting inflation, etc). Will you be able to fit all your stuff in the little one though? I carry so much stuff with me that little bags are out of the question unfortunately.

CousinGregg · 22/09/2022 16:27

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the retro style.

The fakes are annoying but they are mostly Neverfull’s that you can see are fake 100miles away if you own a real one.
