What do you think of this Louis Vuitton?

I love it I think - even though Louis Vuitton can sometimes be overbearing I like the style of this as it seems vintage and therefore a bit less chav?! I haven't bought a Louis Vuitton I'm a while but I really like this. It's very small so hoping it won't look weird?

Thoughts?

The Botteg, every time.

Wagsandclaws · 05/01/2022 21:30

Sorry Bottega.

Flyinggeese1234 · 05/01/2022 21:31

For me, with bags, proportions come into okay a lot with how I feel about them. With the small LV there’s too much strap for the bag. Makes me feel funny! Like the current trend for vey wide canvas straps with small cross body bags. Looks all wrong.

If the strap was (much) less of a feature of the design I’d like it a lot.

Flyinggeese1234 · 05/01/2022 21:31

So many typos!

Flyinggeese1234 · 05/01/2022 21:34

The Bottega is gorgeous! No contest, that one.

Totalwasteofpaper · 05/01/2022 21:35

Prefer the LV one
The shape is great!

Luckingfovely · 05/01/2022 21:43

The Bottega, all day long.

Classy, elegance, understatement
vs
Another bag in a sea of mass-market knock-offs with an over-used, shouty, naff logo pattern

MarshaBradyo · 05/01/2022 21:45

I would most likely usually prefer Bottega but I’m not keen on that one

CitizenCandyKane · 05/01/2022 21:47

I would never buy an LV bag. Not once have I looked at one, no matter how well dressed etc someone is, and thought it was genuine. It always looks fake because of the assosciations...ie:market stall in Turkey etc.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 05/01/2022 21:53

I like the small LV one, it’s fun looking. I like bags like this, I think it takes confidence to have a tiny expensive bag that isn’t the most practical compared to the safe classic type of bag. Don’t overthink it, if you like it and can afford then buy it.

saturning · 05/01/2022 22:01

I really love it, super cute.

I would not assume it's a fake.If it was a neverfull or another longstanding or very popular style, even then, Id not assume it was fake but that's because I'm familiar with the brand.

Please dont let other opinions on here influence you - well do let them but only a little bit, sometimes objectivity can help.

Mumsnet style and beauty is not what I'd call a fountain of knowledge for high end/ high value items and some (or many) people are horrified a handbag could cost more than £200. In fact, quite a few times I have not known a brand or product there have been threads about and I am a seasoned shopper!!

If you think you'd enjoy owning it, using it and it would work with your personal style - BUY IT.

KMfirsttimemum · 05/01/2022 22:05

LV all day I love it!

saturning · 05/01/2022 22:07

The LV one is my favourite and the one i was referring to in my previous post but I can see the BV as very appealing too. The LV boit bag is definitely a statement!

Gee, thanks. But luckily it is a fount of knowledge about grammar and the correct use of words.

I completely agree. It’s a lovely little bag if it wasn’t in that ubiquitous fake looking LV print.
saturning · 06/01/2022 08:14

i knew someone would pull me up on my comment - cool, no probs Smile

luckily for me, it's a casual forum, not an academic paper i've submitted or a work document.

anotherbrewplease · 06/01/2022 08:20

It is truly hideous - and the larger one is even more hideous!!

Cannot fathom why people like it?

I much prefer the Bottega but I like the LV size even though in theory I'd never use it (much prefer bigger bags) unless maybe at special events. can't stand logos either which would put me off it.

The only LV logo bag (not sure which one I have) is an authentic one from I think 1970s with a logo, which my nana had - she had a penchant for the odd designer logo. I rarely use it, got it authenticated just in case it was a fake, but it sits gathering dust in the attic!
saturning · 06/01/2022 11:16

Iamthewombat You say I made assumptions - cant you see that made assumptions about me Grin. Why are you making this personal? Why do you care so much?

saturning · 06/01/2022 11:18

you are also suggesting that market stalls are not valid - i find that a very sweeping assumption too.

saturning · 06/01/2022 11:23

Iamthewombat just also wanted to add "...seasoned shopper .." was in relation to not knowing everything about all products and having never heard of some brands despite being a huge consumer etc. Please look at the entire context and wording of my post before picking out bits and commenting.

Honestly, this is nonsense, i made anonymous comments on an informal thread where anyone can post. Hopefully everything doesn't get you this stressed!

AuldFox · 06/01/2022 11:23

I way prefer the Bottega. I don’t like heavily monogrammed bags of any sort.

saturning · 06/01/2022 11:26

Gonnagetgoing I have a 1992 vintage bucket bag, not quite as vintage as yours but it's very sweet and quirky. Are you going to ever use it?
