Le Pliage - short or long handles?

BeaLola · 27/12/2021 12:48

Okay the most boring thread probably !

However I'm after one of the Le Pliage bags for work / essentials for travel and can't decide between the long handles so I could also carry over my shoulder or the short handles and wondered if anyone who has one based on experience has any thoughts ? TIA

Definitely get the long handles. I've got this bag in navy and one of the best things is now comfy it is on the shoulders, you can have your hands free as it never seems to slip or fall off.

MadameFantabulosa · 27/12/2021 12:57

Long

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 27/12/2021 12:58

Long handles - presuming you're looking at the M or L sized bag. The long handles are not actually all that long anyway so unless you're unusually short (I'm 5'2")you can still use them like short handles without the bag being down by the floor. (I have two in M size, both with long handles.)

AppleFairy · 27/12/2021 12:58

Long

Fluffywabbits · 27/12/2021 13:09

Definitely long! Very comfortable over the shoulder, even when filled to the brim and as pp says, can still be carried by hand as the handles aren't so long to make this uncomfortable. I love my large le plage - hope you enjoy too!

Lucia574 · 27/12/2021 16:38

Long! They’re not so long you can’t hold them
I’m your hand if you want.

Nutsohazelnuts · 27/12/2021 16:43

Long

Longdistance · 27/12/2021 16:45

Long every time. Easier to sling over your shoulder.

Suprima · 27/12/2021 16:45

Long for work- but if I was getting one for weekend purse-keys-phone, I think the short handles look neater.

Inthesameboatatmo · 27/12/2021 17:01

Long handles

AmethystMoonShine · 27/12/2021 19:23

Long. I have one short handled one and use it far less than my long handled ones.

DustySpringboard · 27/12/2021 19:41

Yup, as everyone says, go for long

What colour are you going for? Medium or large?

Mine is the hardest working bag I own, had for about 10 years, still going strong

DSGR · 27/12/2021 19:55

Long, I use mine loads, they are great

ABitOfAShitShow · 27/12/2021 20:15

Absolutely this. Mine (neo) go on my shoulders but look equally ‘normal’ if carried in my hand.
violetbunny · 27/12/2021 20:16

Definitely long, especially if you're buying it for travel as there are time when you'll want your hands free.

BeaLola · 28/12/2021 02:09

Wow - thank you - and especially for the neatly unanimous response

  • long it is - recolour - haven't decided - I have a purple backpack and used to have a green one - all I can say is it won't be be navy or black

How about the khaki colour, I'm a very boring black and navy person though. I'm probably not the best person to answer about the colour lol

Hop27 · 28/12/2021 07:58

I'm voting Neo instead, with short handles. Also has the cross body strap. Looks sharper for work if your corporate!

amarante · 28/12/2021 08:36

Hi - where do you see the medium size with long handles? Can't find them ....,

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 28/12/2021 08:39

Reading this thread has sent me down a rabbit hole of Le Pliage bags. I have had a medium blue short handled bag for years and it’s one of those things in my life that is so useful that I barely notice I have it (does that make sense).

Now thanks to this thread I’ve had my head turned by the LGP range which are in the sale. It would be sensible to buy one now for when my other one finally wears out… wouldn’t it?

Onlyrainbows · 28/12/2021 08:41

Long always long

TizerorFizz · 28/12/2021 08:43

I have two of their travel bags and they don’t come with long handles! The “handbag” ones do but they are not very big. Having said that I use a suitcase and pop the Le Pliage on top. The handles go around the extended case handle. They also make a tall travel bag with a shoulder strap and this is very comfortable. It’s wider than the standard handles. So for what you want OP, I would look around a bit more.

Fridafever · 28/12/2021 08:47

I’m quite tempted by this -

Fridafever · 28/12/2021 08:50

I have a sort of knock off Radley one that I bought in a sale for about £40 years ago and it is very useful, makes an excellent beach bag and day out bag - I put kids wellies in it and all sorts. I’m a bit bored of the colour but it’s apparently completely indestructible so not sure I can justify getting something so similar.
