Christmas London wedding

Help! I’m on the hunt for dress to attend a Christmas wedding in London. Dress code is evening wear I think. Men in black tie. Do you think any of these are appropriate? Or any brands I should look at. Am 41, 5.7 slimish ( size 10/12).

The first one, the red, is fabulous. I kind of like the Dina? The backless one, but if you have something over it you make look a bit heapy until it is removed as I suspect it looks better uncovered.
If I wore long, I would look at you v enviously if you strode past in the red dress!

Red (traditionally with old wives tales) means you slept with the groom. However the red is the best one and more than suitable for a London wedding

Seems like the red is a clear favourite then. I will keep looking to though.

The red one. I like the other red one too.

That I've just shown is pale and summery and a bit insipid.

Needle and thread the Maciver one and the red one. All work well. They’d be fine for cool London black tie which is quite different in style from rural / provincial black tie

They've got the red one in black, do you think that is more suitable? With gold accessories maybe?

Whereabouts do you live OP? I am in London and there is a shop neare which hires out beautiful, different evening gowns which might be righr for this event. Totally agree that if you're a slim 5 ft 7 you should be able to find something quite easily to rent which is flattering and saves you lots of cash for something you will probably wear once or twice.

Do you have a preference on dress length (anything cocktail or long would be fine) or sleeve length (I would melt in long sleeves so avoid those!) or colour?

I love the first red one, the Zadig & Voltaire red and the MacIver sparkly one. I think they'd all be lovely with the right styling for a 'cool' wedding. The Z&V one might need a bit of sparkle somewhere elsewhere to look more evening.

I like both the red ones, second red my favourite.

I really like the one where you’ve said is no one liking this but it’s a bit too close to bridal colours

The first two are stunning. I think I’d go for the black with the bows, it’s perfect for a winter wedding, I think!

I don’t like too short, too bright or anything that shows my décolletage! So nothing strappy.

The red one is stunning !

I would be delighted if a guest showed up at my wedding in the black velvet with bows.* Not really keen on any of the others - they lack gravitas.

*I’m not planning a wedding …
