Soft warm socks

I'm fed up of my feet either being cold (in normal socks) or stiff, itchy and uncomfortable (in hiking type socks). I want some super soft, warm, comfy socks - thin enough to wear comfortably with boots - that stay soft after many washes.

Recommend me your socks!

Try bamboo socks. Very cosy & warm & they stay super soft. I love the Sock Shop’s own brand version. I have knee high & ankle socks from them & they still look new with no fading.

I bought some merino wool socks from John Lewis which have been great - i got two charcoal and two black pairs, and they have been saving my feet. They also have a roll top rather than a ribbed seam so good if, like me, you have chunky calves.

Heat Holder socks are the warmest out of my various ones. Aside from Seasalt women’s cabin socks, which are incredibly cosy as they are lined with a warm fabric. Sadly though, once washed, the lining has moved and they are never the same.

Second both the Heat Holders and the Seasalt cabin socks - their fluffies socks are also good and a bit thinner. I find Seasalt's socks come up a bit small though so try the men's if you're over a size 6.

These are nice! I’ve got a few pairs.
I’ve had some nice cashmere socks from tkmaxx over the years too.
I need a good percentage of wool in socks otherwise my feet freeze! I wear a pair of cotton socks underneath too.

Bamboo socks from BAM are very warm and cosy. My only complaint is that they come in a range of bright colours - which I like - but I would also like to have them in black or navy. Nice quality though

I have just ordered some bamboo socks from Amazon (Elle brand) and have high expectations thanks to this thread.

(Wool makes me itchy so that's not an option.)

Tesco have some really warm cosy fleece lined thermal socks which are fab.

I'm wearing some chenille socks from Primark, £2.50 for two pairs. Very snuggly

Update : bamboo socks arrived (from the Sock Shop, who even knew that was still a brand?) and are very soft and comfy, but not quite thick enough to wear with my winter boots. So think I might get some of the M&S ones too

I have started wearing 2 pairs of socks for the winter.
I wear some thickish trainer socks with trespass thermal crew socks on top.
It is really helping with perenially cold feet.

I get chilblains (medication caused) and my GP recommended silk socks. So if you have the dosh.......

Wash on 40 and tumble dry (don’t kill me) and if anything get softer
Sizing is annoying, I forget but I’m a solid 51/2 and got the smaller ones
