Is this a nice coat?

I’m 38. Slim legs, round around the tummy, big chest.

I want a change of style. Can’t wear jeans anymore. Would this look nice with midi dresses/biker boots?

Is it smart or casual? Looking for something smartish/cas

If it’s ugly, please find me a coat I can buy tomorrow in a shop..need it desperately for Monday. 🤦‍♀️

I really don’t like coats like that. Can you try a teddy coat? Sainsbury’s have some nice ones 😊

Aphantasia · 27/11/2021 17:22

Hmmm not a fan I’m afraid, I think it’s a bit shapeless

Findingthelight1 · 27/11/2021 17:23

It's ok, but I think you can do better, OP. For me it's the lack of shape in it. I think with midi dresses and boots you might look a bit drowned?

Helpstopthepain · 27/11/2021 17:24

It’s a bit Del Boy

KittyKattyFosterMummy · 27/11/2021 17:26

I think if you are a bit "round around the tummy", I think the coat would be very unflattering and just make you look rounder.

Hepzibar · 27/11/2021 17:28

Watching this, I'm struggling to find a coat. They are all either puffer or shapeless. I just can't understand why every coat in every shop is a variation on puffer. Hideous.
They'll be giving them away come January

beatrixpotterspencil · 27/11/2021 17:36

@Helpstopthepain

It’s a bit Del Boy
r u saying there's something wrong with looking like del boy? You'd be a plonker to pass this up Grin

OP, not a fan, but only you knows if it is ugly or not. I see incredibly awful stuff touted as great on here all the time, we are all too different (and that's good!).

Regarding coats though, i would not trust the regular high street for anything in terms of warmth. It is an area where i would spend, if possible.

BleuJay · 27/11/2021 17:36

It’s hideous and would not suit your shape at all.

BleuJay · 27/11/2021 17:40

A cocoon shape might suit your apple shape but you’ll have to try on to find the right length.

Duxiejhrhrvjz · 27/11/2021 17:40

Previous poster that suggested Sainsbury’s is bang on. I saw a lot of nice ones there yesterday.

withiceplease · 27/11/2021 17:52

It's not a good shape. I've tried it on. Def not for dresses any longer than mini. And I think with anything other than slim/skinny jeans, it would make outfit very bulky

OhPeeQueue · 27/11/2021 18:12

Thanks for being truthful 🤣

I already have a cocoon shape coat but it’s 3 years old and I can’t find anything that isn’t puffer or like a duvet.

Dunno what I’m going to do…

It looks cool on the models but on the average person it would be like an old fashioned car coat (yes Del boy.)

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 27/11/2021 18:24

There's a lovely black coat in Sainsbury's for £45, black with belt waist and fur collar

OhPeeQueue · 27/11/2021 19:22

Gonna check sainsburys now.

gunnersgold · 27/11/2021 19:28

Look in next , I work there and we have loads of lovely coats . What do you like ?

KirstenBlest · 27/11/2021 19:34

No. It looks cheap

TartanPyjamas · 27/11/2021 19:37

I ordered the green one through Next earlier today, I really like the way the collar stands and it looks warm. That said I have the opposite body type to you and I'm not sure it will suit me. Happy to report back when it arrives!

gunnersgold · 27/11/2021 19:39

Green one is MUCH better !

CouldThisReallyBe · 27/11/2021 19:41

Not a fan. In my opinion it's not a style that goes well with a dress.

DrWankincense · 27/11/2021 19:41

Immediate thought was the same as @Helpstopthepain.

Verbena17 · 27/11/2021 19:50

A thigh-length coat over midi skirt/dress will look good.
Or a same length midi coat to skirt/dress.
