Pros and Cons of getting a fringe

I have had many hairstyles. Pixies, Long and straight, mid length bob. I change it up a lot. Naturally a dark brown with a lot of red - so takes an age to lighten up.

Currently sporting an almost platinum chin length bob - no fringe. Fancying getting a fringe cut in for a change.

for reference I am early 50s, dress quite casually, wear minimal make up..

I've always had a fringe, mainly to try and hide my huge forehead. My hairdresser will trim it for free, in between full haircuts, but I usually do it myself. I take sharp scissors and hold them vertically, then snip upwards, it's much easier than trying to get an even horizontal line, doesn't work with a full blunt-cut fringe though.

I'm 61 had a fringe all my life, my hair is fine but lots of it, I have straight longish hair and trim my own fringe every 3 weeks, I also, since lock down trim all my own hair, i have a few shorter front layers like jennifer aniston,when I trim these I watch a few hairdressers tutorials on YouTube.

I have a sort of side fringe going on and i am 49. Use to have a middle parting with no fringe but fancied a change. I hope you can see the photo.

My next hair appointment isn't until 22nd December but I have been going back and forth about getting a fringe again. I'm now inspired - I'm going to go for it!

When I have a fringe I grow it out. When it's grown out I get the fringe back. i have done this all my adult life.

I don't think it is because one suits above the other, it's just a change, but hell it takes bloody ages to grow it out and I now have shoulder length hair with no fringe and am thinking of doing it again.

No actually I am not. I have asked family and they all said 'No mum don't'.

I don't think you need a fringe. I like all your layers. You have quite a small forehead. I'm not sure a fringe would add anything.

I get a fringe occasionally and the sensation of it touching my face drives me insane.

I grew out my fringe for the first time ever! It’s so much easier to look after and even in a wind you can tuck it behind your ears and it still looks ok. Result!

just a thought for those contemplating, why not get one of those fake ones to try first?
